    I want to say that you are my primary source from here on out. I just purchased a 2006 Red mustang from my neighbor, she wanted it gone for 2500. (automatic) Purchased a coupled days ago, 25th I am looking to throw a new radiator/coolant (Its been sitting 3 years, has rust inside coolant) At first I was looking to flip this car, but Im having a hard time seeing as its grown on me. If I can properly fix it up to become my daily driver I may just keep it! Though heres a problem im having maybe you know right off the back? When shifting, As its just like yours, --Park, to reverse, to neutral, to Drive, to 3, 2 ,1 going from Park, to reverse, to neutral, to Drive. - It acts as if its in neutral? Or even sometimes acts as if its in '3' (Identified by horrible shifting) I have to pull it down to '3', and push it up to 'Drive' To actually have the car go through its gears smoothly. (Buddy figured this one out) I researched and a lot of people say linkage cable, but wanted your personal opinion, maybe you went through this before or known someone who has.

  • @OctaneStreet

    Haha, I appreciate that but unfortunately I don't think I have the knowledge, nor have I covered enough here on the channel to be anyone's primary source! Also, I apologize for the late response. The problem you described is something I've experienced with my car as well. I haven't been able to identify the cause, and in my case it only happened often for a span of like a month, so I never really addressed it. Linkage cable seems like it might make sense, but i'd worry of a more serious issue that prevents the trans from being able to grab gears properly/slipping. Hopefully it's something simple like the cable, but unfortunately I don't have the answer. Hope you're able to figure it out, and if not then I hope it goes away on its own like mine did!

    @@OctaneStreet Thank you for your honest opinion. To update you, I contacted ford dealership and addressed the problem with the year and model You may want to look into it as well, They told me my mustang is highlighted under a recall, yours may be as well? They are RECALLING model year 2005-2008 Ford Mustang vehicles that are manufactured from August 1, 2004, to June 30, 2007, and 2005-2006 Ford GT vehicles manufactured February 11, 2005, to January 30, 2006. Sir, I have a question regarding driving an automatic transmission car on a 30-kilometer range uphill route. What is the best driving method to use? Should I use the OD (Overdrive) OFF function or gear 2, 1 or L gear? And to assist with engine braking, on downhill, should I use gear 2, 1, or L for the entire 30 kilometers to prevent damage to the transmission? Your answer and explanation would be greatly appreciated

I can turn the car back on but cant put it into gear without it stalling again. I’ve replaced the solenoid pack, wiring harness, fluid and filter and still no fix. Any help?

    Yikes that sucks. Yeah if it goes into overdrive so soon the engine rpm is too low at such low speed and it would stall out. Ive had to deal with stalling on my Corolla before but that was mainly due to a dirty throttle body that needed cleaning. Did you ever fix your problems with the car?

    It might not be the smartest thing to do often, but I do believe it was designed with instances of turning it on/off at speeds (like highway/freeway speeds) in mind. That being said it should be safe but continue your research to be sure.

    I have no light for the o/d feature and if When I drove 80kmh it would be slow to change gears but accelerate fast but rev low, people saying when it does this it’s on. But when I click the o/d button the revs go high but it looses acceleration. The mixed signals confuse me

  • @OctaneStreet

    @OctaneStreet

    Жыл бұрын

    With O/D on, the car will rev higher and accelerate harder. The gears will rev out longer therefore making the gear changes delayed so to say. If you're going highway speeds, and the revs are low (like ~2500rpm), the car does NOT have O/D off since this is achieved by your car being in its overdrive gears like 6th gear. It's probably just the light in your gauge cluster that's blown if the actual feature is still working. Hope that helps!

    It should be able to be toggled on/off with the press of the same button. It may also depend on your vehicle how the feature is meant to be toggled back on, try looking around on Google or your owner's manual if you drive something other than a Ford Mustang product. Worst case scenario, switching the car off and back on should have O/D back on by default.
