There is a line in the Beast Wars cartoon in which Beast Wars Megatron calls the Autobots and Decepticons "archaic energon guzzlers" which is very interesting after learning that a resource shortage is part of the set up in Beast Wars Uprising.

I seem to remember back in G1 the later years... that was one of the main reason for the Micro masters and Action Masters... The main cast lost their transforming ability and were MUCH smaller in order to become more 'energy efficient'. I also laugh at just popular Bumblebee somehow became when his original tech specs.. .the only thing he had going for him was he was fuel efficient :P So yeah, I do kind of like that in the Beast Wars far far future, everyone is a lot smaller. Tied in nicely with the direction they were going in G1.

The reformatting from Autobots and Decepticons to Maximals and Predacons was specifically because the former were energy wasteful, so yes, it was the same meaning.

Huh. You know, the backstory here makes me realize, even in regular Beast Wars everyone on Cybertron would have all been the same smaller size as the main cast post-Great Upgrade. So even with vehicular forms, they'd be a bunch of Micromaster/Mini-con sized cars and jets and such. It's such an obvious fact that I feel kinda ridiculous for never even considering it before.

Wow, I remember seeing Beast Wars Uprising, but never took a good look at it. Thank you for letting everyone know of this interesting series. I definitely will take a second look if given the chance.

I love watching these episodes every Saturday, thanks so much man :)

Having FINALLY read through the entire saga for the first time, I can definitively say it is my favourite complete Transformers story ever. Sorenson and Bishop's "blender" approach to the franchise is the ultimate expression of what I love about Transformers in general. Such a rich history of lore, characters, and concepts, constantly being added to and built upon, just waiting for someone to throw it all together, pick and choose and re-imagine it to create something truly special. Beast Wars Uprising is that something special. I'm kinda glad nothing has been done with it since 2016 though. It's allowed to be a complete "thing" without other people feeling the need to messing with it. Unlike, say, Shattered Glass, what makes BWU so compelling isn't really the concept but the execution. The devil's in the detail and I feel like any writers other than Sorenson and Bishop wouldn't necessarily be able to deliver on what made it so great. I think if Hasbro were to latch onto the idea like they did for Shattered Glass, it might get kinda watered down. There's no way they'd commit to something this nakedly and radically political and so the concept would lose so much of what made it special.

Thanks for this. I've been a Transformers fan since the '90s, so I know just about everything there is to know about it. However, Beast Wars Uprising is one of the few continuities I know almost nothing about, despite my love of all things Beast Wars (as I said, TF fan since the '90s). I might go check it out further.

its odd that in beast wars uprising that the Autobots and Decepticons rely on the proto races (smaller cybertronians) to fight in the war yet it is confirmed by hot rod that normal sized cybertronians can become micromasters (which are basically the same size as maximals/predacons)

This was one of the most intriguing Basic videos. Sure I love all of the Basics, but most of the time I know most of the info, but this one not so much. I can't wait till the next one, I am wondering if you are going to bring up the Macross/Robotech connection, and the issues with Harmony Gold.

Back in 2010 when I first got a computer I was playing around with a paint app, than I needed to make a YT account, needed an image to use, and it was the first one that came up and was the right size. I didn't think to much about it, until a certain point that I just got so used to using it that now I don't have the heart to change it. Anyways, to answer your question, yes it is Azusa from K-on!, and yes she is one of my favorites from the series.

Why am I so late to this? This whole story sounds incredible. I love alternate timeline/universe stories so this is right up my alley. 👀

Somebody needs to repaint Beast Hunters Ratchet into Jawbreaker already.

I heard Mae Catt wanted to do a BW: Uprising version of Transmutate in Cyberverse which I would have liked to see. The fact she has the Transformer equivalent of autism is quite interesting and, while I doubt it could have been explored fully in Cyberverse's 10-minute time slot, could have been a good opportunity.

These are always such treats to watch, I can't wait for the (eventual) Wheeljack one

Not a big fan of the political influences of Uprising, but on the whole, I enjoyed it quite a bit. My favorite part would have to be the clever reuses of pre-existing toy designs, Galvatron chief among them.

The beast wars uprising is a great concept it should have an animated series it would really be a good way to bring beast wars back to the big screen. I also love how the reinvented transmutant and I love the toy for uprising Rampage using TFP Megatron toy and remolding it is really fitting for Rampage. I never read any Beast Wars uprising comics but the idea is amazing

MyHeadCanon: when Predacon Megatron destroyed Optimus Prime to stop the Maximals existence Blackarchnia retaliated by destroying the original Megatron to stop the Predacons existence. The Vector Prime Council used the Power of their Multversal Omega Lock to Split that event into a new timeline. This new timeline was the Beast Wars uprising timeline where the Autobots and decepticons were forced off earth with the united forces of humanity and went back to Cybertron and continue to use more and more energy until they were so low that they lost mobility and were frozen as statues. The Micromasters and Cassette bots were able to keep their mobility and created the Proto-Races, the Maximals and Predacons a next Generation of Smaller, more energy efficient Cybertronians who could function in these energy stared times. The Maximals and Predacons were used as proxy armies to continue the war in their place, But as the Centuries passed the fighting withered away and a new society took shape it on the ruined stagnant planet. The Autobots and Decepticons allied to become planet’s ruling oligarchs, the builders the Micromasters as their enforcers and The Maximals and Predacons as a Civilian underclass kept in line by the games. The Games were Barbaric gladiatorial bloodsports in which the Builders periodically forced them to compete. A resistance led by Cheetor to fight against the builders and this corrupt society Trivia The Beast Wars uprising timeline is an alternate timeline of my Converged Continuity The Beast Wars uprising timeline was made a separate timeline thanks to the Council of Vector Primes so the original timeline of Beast Wars is still preserved

I've wondered about this too but I think it has to do with them creating catchy names for the toys and not considering how it would make sense with the continuity. Same goes for the original names for the G1 factions: Autobots/Decepticons. They're ok for toys and even when the cartoon first came out, it was ok since it was meant for kids but once the franchise started developing a following with a deeper lore and an older fanbase, those names just sound too goofy too. Even the Bumblebee movie references this when Agent Burns mentions the name Decepticons as sounding too suspicious. And in an even funnier reference, watch Nostalgia Critic's review of the original G1 cartoon 3-part episode which points out that the Autobots were fighting another group called the Trustworthians before their conflict with the Decepticons so they didn't think they were evil at the time. 😆I like how in Japan, the Decepticons are called Destrons. That just sounds better to me.

Ohh, looking forward for next Saturday TF: The Basic about Jetfire.. This vid was handy "in nutshell" vid those that haven't get idea or haven't heard of BW: Uprising. 2022 addition: Few times had thought would BW: Uprising universe have potential for crossover fanfic, Builders spreading they corrupt rulings in to another realities.

Chris McFeely do you think you could do videos solely on Unicron and Primus respectively in the future? I think it would be an interesting set of videos.

Watching this video makes me wish someone would revive the beast wars concept as a new comic book and a cartoon.

They’re different though. The Gladiatorial fights Megatron fought in the pits of Kaon were considered illegal, but those who participated in them did so of their own free will. The Games of Beast Wars Uprising, on the other hand, were legal but the participants were forced to fight in them. All for the Builder’s amusement. It was very much like what the Quintessons used to do to Transformers in the G1 cartoon back when they ruled Cybertron.

Loved BW Uprising! Also, I know it's probably for ease of storytelling, but I feel everything in that universe is a bit...bigger, in relation to other universes. I mean, the Maximals and Predacons have been shown to be the same size as full sized bots from other continuities, so that kinda leads me to believe that the Builders in Uprising are TRUELY massive.

Louis Sun I know that, but when shown dimension hopping or interacting with being from other dimensions (ie, the monster Gobots) the protoraces and Micromasters are shown to be the same size, so unless there's some size changing between the dimensional travel, everything in the BWU universe is bigger in relation to other universes.

I think I need a figure of the Decepticon imperious delirious. That name is enough for me to want the figure.

In my dream I had that type of axe and I took on novamos and gave him a big scar on his eye with the axe so I had the thing broken by him smashed it in the beat the chasers area and ow he smashed my eye by a royal gauntlet so I opened a portal with soulas primes fouge staff and he got ranned over by firestar and inferno combined vehicle mode and novamos was pinned by firestar and i arrested him for murdering are creator giya and for attacking a both oddsquard and police officer ( the police is prowl and his partner barricade)
