*Support What we do at KMTools.com
At Katz-Moses Tools we manufacture woodworkingtools, templates and jigs using a variety of materials. They all need to be broken down when they come off the truck for the various machines they are used on. Our current sawhorse setup was insufficient and frankly unsafe for my team. We designed one of the most versatile sawhorses we could think of. It has two types of rollers systems for easy unloading, infeed and outfeed support. Adjustable sawhorses from 30 inches to 50 ¼ inches for breaking down sheet goods into manageable parts. They use a unique hinge pin system that makes for easy adjustments and changing of the different top plates. There are plans available on our website. As always we keep this channel unsponsored and generate all our revenue at kmnttols.com. We have over 500 products that we use and love in our shops. If you haven’t been over to kmtools.com go check it out sometime. I guarantee you’ll love what we have over there.

    I have a pair of horses with open top boxes on top as the frame to support my various platforms, they have mitred cut ends on 2x4's, which fit inside the boxes where the ends extend past the box to create handles. The platforms are then adapted to my needs with rollers (as outfields); dowel pyramids (for painting); Stops at one end (for planning); Sandpaper and rubber matting surface on one pair. Sacrificial boards as a bench hook for sawing and one set as a mitre box. I got some of these ideas from pneumatic addicts site.

    Not a big fan of roller supports, most of the time I need a support that isn't so squirrely. Having built supports that have a slick surface, i.e., laminate (Formica type) you get easy movement without the ever present run-a-way you have with rollers. Plus, you get a surface that is flat so a clamp is easily affixed. Just another option.

    A beautiful piece of over thought engineering. Saw horses are supposed to be put together on site with scrap wood to meet the needs of the job. I've thrown away nearly ever sawhorse I ever built. You're thinking too hard about it brother. Amazing work though! If I had the space these would be on every job I'm on!

  • @PaganWizard
    @PaganWizard Жыл бұрын

    I built saw horses similar to these a few years ago, but they are nowhere even near as nice as these look, and I'm sure, perform as well. Another top piece you can make for these saw horses would be to, take another length of 2x4, dado one side as you did for the rollers, and then top it with 3 inch wide neoprene. You can get a 10 foot roll of it on Amazon for about $15, and it has adhesive on one side, so it's just peel and stick. This is GREAT for holding something that you do not want moving around. P.S. Where can I find the hitch pins you used in this project??

    These are huge and bulky. The classic saw horse built with 2x4s are so universal. I do not believe the style you have created will hold very much weight. Then it also appears top heavy. I built homes for over 20 years and have tried a lot of sawhorses. These would not be a good choice for that. Plus you really wouldn’t want to cut anything on these. So they are more aptly called OutFeed horses.

  • @katzmosestools

    @katzmosestools

    We’ll, I’ve manufactured and designed tools for 7 years and was a home/commercial builder for 12 years prior. These will hold 2 tons combined (easy) and when you remove the rollers top plate they function exactly like a sawhorse. So basically agree to disagree.

  • @HickLif3

    @HickLif3

    The heck you building that you would be breaking these by sheer weight? it would get so big that the extra saw horses would compensate for the weight. I do agree though that the basic I beam is probably more than enough for anyone and is easily modified in a pinch for a roller outfeed or whatever if needed. plus they're cheap and quick to make from 2-12' 2x4. set a cut stop at 36" and just bang it out

    @@katzmosestools I built home for over 20 years and have been in the construction industry for over 30. I worked for engineers and also do custom wood working. On one of my sites these would break due to the 3/4” sides. I can agree these would be ok in a shop format. You could set them in place and they will be ok. If you have to cut rafters and large heavy objects like insetting a steel flitch plate between some LVLs this would not be the application. Typically we would also use ours for scaffolding and I would not trust this design to hold people working. I do not see their load levels in a torque situation holding very well. No matter your experience in all else these are just not meant for serious work. It’s ok. Loads of people do need to have something like this. I would just use an outfeed table or stand. It would be cheaper to build or buy. My opinion!
