This is the second recording I carry out based on selected quotes from the "Meditations" Book 3, by Marcus Aurelius. I also cared to find a soundtrack that helps the listener get into the mood of slowing down, taking a big breath, relaxing, and focusing our attention on the reflections that this magnificent work irradiates.

Marcus Aurelius (121-180), a Stoic philosopher, was part of the Nerva-Antonine dynasty and the last of the Five Good Emperors (you can read about his gratitude for his grandfather and close family members in Book 1). He was the son of Marcus Annius Verus and Domitia Calvilla, and was related to emperors Trajan and Hadrian. After Hadrian’s adoptive son passing away, Aelius Caesar, Marcus was adopted by Antoninus Pius, Hadrian’s new heir. His rule saw significant military conflict, including successful battles against the Parthian Empire and the Kingdom of Armenia. He is renowned for his philosophical work, Meditations, which symbolizes the Roman Empire’s Golden Age.
