Transfer-Dump Race: The Complete Run Truckin' For Kids 2011

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Mark Tarascou and his Pete 359 is seen participating in a transfer-dump competiton at the 2011 Truckin' For Kids Truck Show. Although there were a few glitches, it was still a good show.
For those not familiar with dump trucks like these, they are set up with a system that allows the driver to back the truck up while they are standing behind it to make attaching the towbar easier. The driver puts the truck in reverse gear and shuts the engine off. At the rear is a switch or a button that is used to engage the starter motor on the engine without starting the truck. Since the transmission is in reverse, as the starter motor turns the engine it also turns the driveline and backs the truck up. I'm not a trucker so I don't know what this system or technique is called, but that is how it works. Thanks for watching. Please rate and share this video with your friends. Shot on 9-25-11.
To see a good detailed video of a transfer-dump and its transfer system, watch this • Walk-Around Of An Auto...

Welcome to present time; over here (Sweden) we dump the two bunks FASTER than this guy do and it's on a regular job. Not in a competition! 1: Trailer is disconnected from the cab -no running around back and forth ; draw bar, electric cables and air hoses are disconnected with a press of a switch. 2: Once the truck is unloaded you go back and transfer the trailer bunk - all controlled from the cab, so no running up & down the cab here either. 3: When trailer bunk is unloaded, you transfer it to the trailer and lock it from cab. 4: Drive forward to make space for the draw bar, and again; press a switch and it will raise up to hook up level. 5: First time you need to leave cab; well... you got to connect air hoses and electric cables manually, but that's all. Sadly though.. no one has uploaded a good DETAILED video showing the unloading sequence of the truck setup. But you can watch this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4yNzLmSmrbge7g.html

The same setup as here, but with an additional transfer trailer behind the first one. Not sure what they're grossing. I was bummed I couldn't get any videos of them doing their thing with transferring those boxes. I went through both Nevada and Utah and they run a ton of different combos in those states that I never get to see in Arizona or California -- triples, super-B's, what looked like double 48-footers, 53's+a 28' pup, 5-axle tankers that must've been 12K gallons, plus more configurations. There was a Day that you got out of the truck, put it in Reverse, ran back and grabed the Drawbar and stuffed it in the hitch as you killed the Motor. We all did it but was dangerous. Good Job Mark!

Everyone making fun of this system doesn't even know why it was invented. It's so that you can take an entire load into tight space's, such as residential areas, or narrow roads. You can leave the trailer behind and only have to worry about the truck. Because there's some places that a trailer just won't fit.

Random Stuff In Oregon There is no better way to get materials into tight urban construction sites than this. Have seen countess larger trailers over the years crush cars, hit street lights, fire hydrants, trees on curbs, crush sidewalks all just trying to get to the jobs when these guys zip right around stuff without issues.

I think he's a proud driver/owner too. Some people just see abuse of equipment, and they're entitled to their opinion, but I don't see it that way. His truck or trucks are his livelihood and there is no way he would or could let things go unfixed. He's demontrating a skill that's usually done at a speed much slower than this. It took guts and pride to get out in front of the crowd and go hammer down and still get it done!
