Transalpine Redemptorist Final Profession
On August 15th 2010, the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady, Br. Martin Mary, F.SS.R. made his final vows in the Congregation of the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer on Papa Stronsay. His mother, father, sister and two brothers were also there for the occasion, and his father and brothers sung in the schola. This video is mostly made up of clips from the ceremony. In the evening we held our annual bonfire and BBQ, to which the residents of Stronsay are also invited, to celebrate the profession and the feast.

at the end they are chanting the "Te Deum"
calvinkkw I think that means, without presuming to know exactly... Because he swears obedience, if he was ordered by his Superior, or by the Bishop of Aberdeen, or the Pope to become a priest, or become a Bishop, he would do so. However he wouldn't seek these things for himself, and if he merely got the offer, he would reject it.
Dear Brother, I'm wondering if I misheard the vow, did he renounce all the ecclesiastic offices which may be offered to him? Does it mean that he would never be consecrated a bishop if the office was offered to him? God Bless.

calvinkkw If it was merely an offer, he must reject. The Pope, as Supreme Pontiff, can overturn this and still appoint him as bishop. Their situation is kind of like the Jesuits, too. Remember also that St. Alphonsus Mary de Liguori was bishop of Sant'Agata de' Goiti.

Matthew Tolentino is correct. The Pope or the Rector Major of the Congregation could oblige a member to accept, in which case he would have to. But until he was so obliged, he would have to refuse.
