    I can't buy a binder yet because my parents don't know I'm trans and I would have to buy it online and all that so ya but I'm moving out in a year when I graduate then I can come out and don't have to worry about getting kicked out and stuff because my parents are very transphobic. I'm scared still though and binding I just do with sports bras but it doesn't really help much 😒

My thoughts had been leading to this for a while but today I went shopping in the men's section and I felt really good in men's clothes (this probably isn't a good way of explaining it but whatever).

    I don't mind having breasts so I don't want to bind, I used to hide under a hoodie but I moved to a country where it's basically always summer so people can see my body now. I just want to be without a bra like any other guy but people think I'm female despite the short hair, men's clothes, and leg hair. I really hope we get to the point where it's okay for men to have breasts.

    GOD I HATE SUMMER. I want to wear shorts and light Tshirts but you can see my (ugly but functional and safe diy) binder through the tshirts, its 100+ degrees outside so I can't even wear a binder at all, and the only shorts I have are very very girly ones (really short, high waisted shorts)uggghhhh I can't wait until fall..

  • @logankearns557
    @logankearns5577 жыл бұрын

    I just cut the sleeves off of t-shirts to make my own vests/tank tops! Really easy if you turn them inside out and just cut along the outside of the seam :) Also those prickly sweats sound like you might get a heat rash? Once you have a heat rash, the salt in your sweat irritates it and you get the really awful prickly itchiness.

    ALWAYS CHECK THE WEATHER IF BINDING! Im genderfluid...in FLORIDA. I wear my binder to school on days I am more masculine than feminine. Normally when I wear it to school it is very hot. This one day (like a week ago), I wore my binder to school with a button up (Ive done it before but it was extra hot that day) and when I was on my way home I felt like fainting or throwing up or both. It was bad. I have a 30 min bus ride home. I ended up rolling up my sleeves and undoing the top 2 buttons on the shirt. I tried very hard to not die of heat.

    I find that polo shirts work reeeally well in hiding a binder and make you appear more flat & masculine. Uniqlo even has some in the light sporty fabric! My biggest summer problem are shorts tho, because I have NO leg hair and the squish of my thighs is just in my face all the time. When I feel really bad, I wear thin linnen pants, I got some light blue ones from Zara, they're nice.

    Hey Jamie, this is a strong request and asking for a lot, but can you do a video about T being safe for teenagers***? To my knowledge it is, but my mom won't let me wear binders or on testosterone because she think it will kill me or something :( you inspire me so much, thank you!

    Thomas Mooneyhan well medically T isnt safe for children t. They use it but its not FDA approved

  • @nancyboyish

    @nancyboyish

    7 жыл бұрын

    Thomas Mooneyhan i think it depends on what you mean by children, for actual kids until age 12 or so T isn't safe (bc children don't have high amounts of sex hormones anyway) but if you're an ftm teenager it's possible to get estrogen blockers and eventually go on testosterone. and yes, that's safe, but you'll probably need to see a therapist and basically get a "confirmation" that you're trans (not sure about that because the rules are different all over the world but yeah)

  • @thomasiswack4818

    Elias W. whoops sorry I meant teenagers, not children. Just like over twelve would be safe?

  • @nancyboyish

    @nancyboyish

    7 жыл бұрын

    Thomas Mooneyhan i mean i'm no specialist but 12 is about when cis guys start puberty so medically it should be safe. BUT usually if you're a trans guy your doctor would probably first put you on estrogen blockers to stop female puberty and you'd probably have to wait a few years bc they want to make sure you're "really trans" and that it's not a phase, but then you should technically be allowed to go on t. best thing would be to search for a local doctor or therapist who treats trans people and ask them about details!

  • @bryntendo

    @bryntendo

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes it'd be perfectly safe for a young teenager to take T, provided they are otherwise healthy (don't have heart problems or liver failure or something). However, it's often recommended that young teens wait a while to start testosterone because of the likelihood of it causing infertility if starting young, and the fact that starting T will cause you to stop growing. It's a super common myth that T makes you taller, especially if you take it during puberty, but it won't. You will stop growing. So it's best for young teens to go on hormone blockers for a while so that no pubescent/secondary sexual characteristic development happens either way, and then start T at around 14/15 after some talking, therapy, social transition, etc. By that point they should have gained about as much height and functional egg/ovarian development as they're going to (but no curvy hips, breasts, periods, and all that jazz!) But yeah, T won't hurt you, neither will binding if you do it correctly. If she's concerned about the health aspects, why not make an appointment to see a doctor... You know, someone who actually knows anything about health stuff, haha. She could ask about her concerns at the Dr could answer them, hopefully even refer you to a gender identity specialist who can help answer *all* of your mum's questions, as well as get you started on hormone blockers or even T (or both).

    My band took a field trip to Disney World in February, and being a person who had never been to Florida, I didn't know I needed tank tops and shorts there, so our first day I had my binder on under jeans and a dark T-shirt. So I was very happy when I found this really cool patterned tank top in one of the shops that had a near-perfect design for hiding a binder.

    Drew G. Choose a name you want. Having a unisex birth name helps while you're still transitioning and may want to travel or pick up meds or whatever, but ultimately you should choose a name that feels most comfortable for you. If that's your birth name then great, if not that's ok too

    Oh! Prickly sweats is caused by blocked up sweat ducts. For prickly sweats you should try keep your skin as cool and dry as possible. One way to help is using anti-perspirants. Try to avoid tight clothing, and whenever you can try to stay cool even if just for a second (it lowers your internal body heat causing less of the sweat in the end) and when you take a shower, keep the temperature on the cooler side because later in the day it may help.

    I don't know someone has probably said this before but prickly sweats can be helped (in my experience!) with some baby powder application before putting anything else on. Dry off after shower, powder all the bits that rub or get prickly (sometimes that's the whole body) and then proceed through day. I am a plus sized gal and lemme tell ya, helps all the sweaty bits in the summer

    patterned shirts and tank tops are really great for hiding any bumps your binder might not be up to flattening, or if you've got a small chest to begin with it may actually cover it without need for a binder in hot weather! And if you're small chested and go binderless but are worried about a bra line or don't want your nipples to show you can try pasties (or even bandaids tbh, the round ones work best if you're willing to part with the tiny hairs in the area)

    Another binder company that's worth looking at is flavnt. I've tried binders from underworks and gc2b but there is something about the flavnt ones that works really well. The inside lining can make you sweat but then the back bit covers less of your back. I rate my flavnt one equal to my gc2b one.

    the prickly sweat! i also deal with this a lot, but i hadn't pieced together that it correlated with when i started T. it's caused by two things, at least in my case. the first is something similar to what causes acne blocking the sweat glands and making them leak under the skin instead to cause irritation. the second thing is rougher skin combining with drying from the summer heat which leaves microscopic cracks that then sting and itch when they're irritated with sweat which is essentially salt water. i've managed to get it pretty well under control by exfoliating and using a non-comedogenic moisturizer on the areas where it's most prone. this has stopped it pretty much everywhere on my body, though i still haven't figured out how to combat the prickly sweat on the scalp area since i don't exactly want to put lotion in my hair. it also doesn't help that i bleach and dye my hair which just causes more irritation.

    I live directly above the equator and summer's average is 32 degrees (which is about 90 degrees Fahrenheit). Before I came out, I would wear a tight sports bra, an undershirt, and a vest on top of that. You could still see a bit of tit, and I died in the heat, so summer gradually became my worst season. Basically, binding saves lives.

    When you are wearing a binder in summer, try wearing a thin spaghetti strap tank top under it, adding baby powder, or something to help with sweat. thin tanks help with removing it too, the tank sticks to you and the binder doesn't
