@@vincentsaysno1510 - The irony is that the excuse for wanting to force transpeople into the bathrooms of their assigned gender, is that it'll prevent predators from pretending to be trans & entering bathrooms. Yet, what they don't realize is that predators don't plan their assaults. If they see a target going into a women's bathroom, he's not carrying around a wig & women's clothes to change into. By the time he's done dressing, the target is done with the bathroom. However, by expecting trans to enter bathrooms of their assigned gender, it means transmen (like Jamie, the transguy in this video) would have to use women's restrooms. And at that point, any predator can claim to have been born female and wouldn't need to dress as one in order to follow a women into a restroom and attack her. It's just crazy that these anti-trans people think they're enforced version is safer than just letting trans people use the restrooms they want.

"Actually, I am Christina, you used the wrong gender. You can clear your desk immediately." I doubt it would work like that. If someone calls a coworker by the wrong gender repeatedly and even though they were corrected many times and refuses to be respectful, that may get them fired.

i still can't believe the most popular argument regarding the transgender topic is the bathroom thing. If you (jamie) went into the women's toilet, the ladies there would call the police, because you are not a woman. it's that simple. If a man tried to sexually asaoult a little girl in the restroom, he would still be charged for it, even if he tried to use "i identifies as trans" as an excuse. Also, if this thing of separate bathroom worked, we wouldn't hear of abuses and stuff like that. if a man wants to rape someone, he will not care if he enters the women's toilet, he would still do it. there's no guardian checking your genitals at the door and allowing you to enter or not. I think most of this bs comes down to the lack of information. many people think that being trans is basically being a travestite. I have friends who never heard of taking hormones, they think that one day you are - for example - a man who "dresses as a woman and wears make up" and the next day you turn into a woman by having THE surgery (referring to bottom surgery). It's frustrating to hear all this anti trans arguments that would disappear if only people chose to educate themselves before speaking about something they know nothing about.

@@develiix8314 I understand where you're coming from, but diffenciating between "real man" and "trans man" it's not the best thing to do because it implies that trans men are not real men, which is not the case. I'm sure you mean no harm, we can all get confused at times, but consider using other terms while talking about the topic (like you did after by using "cis" and "trans"). With that in mind, i'm not entirely sure how sending trans people to the bathroom of the gender they were assigned at birth would make it easuer to harass people. 2:31 "Twenty years ago if a man hit a woman so hard he sent her to the hospital, he’d be in prison. Now, he can get paid for it.” 1. The person who you are referring to is a woman. Yes, she is a trans woman, but still a woman. Your statement is flat out wrong, period. 2. This statement is out of context. It was in a boxing match. People get sent to the hospital all the time in boxing matches. This time, the impact happened to be inflicted by a trans woman. This does not give you the right to berate the trans woman for her actions. She was participating in a boxing match, it was not an act of anger or a fight. You extracted the context to make your argument look better. This is essentially a form of lying. 3. You're exaggerating points that don’t make sense in the first place, so in the end the noises that are being uttered out of your mouth have zero logic or reason to them. Nothing that you're saying is backed up by science or facts, you're pulling it out of your own transphobic ass. Please think about the words you attempt to say before you say them and try to think: does this make any f*cking sense at all? If the answer is no, which in this case it would be, then maybe think about your point, even a little. It is blatantly obvious that you did not do this at all. Please attempt to use your brain. I know this will be difficult because it's quite obvious that yours is broken or possibly doesn't exist. I would like to suggest that you get some professional help to try and fix that problem.

"This is essentially a form of lying." You can remove "essentially," because it *is* a form of lying: it's called a lie of omission, wherein you omit (fail to mention) a (usually key) fact, so that you can make your false point more believable. In this case they have omitted the key fact that the event was a boxing match, and thus quite a separate scenario from one where the man would be imprisoned.

I don't remember all of it but somewhile back I heard the dumb argument that transwomen (called something other there) would be stronger etc but this is quite some bullshit I think. To be honest, once most trans people start hormones and bind, or don’t, depending, it’s hard to see what gender they were assigned at birth. For instance, a trans man looks like a man and trans woman looks like a woman. Going into a bathroom, nobody would look twice. The only problems come from cisgender people who see these adverts and are terrified, then act upon this fear. It’s more horrifying for a trans person just using the toilet, even if they are the most feminine woman ever or the manliest man ever, it’s still really scary. In terms of protecting women from sexual assault, bathrooms do nothing. If a man wants to sexually assault a woman, a sign won’t keep him out. It’s one of the reasons women are told to use the bathroom and take another female with them, to prevent sexual assault and to make sure that there’s someone else there. The bathroom bill will be very hard to monitor because you can’t ask for ID to pee, can you?

  • @timecrayon

I agree. My friend identifies as non-binary or genderfluid and when she binds and wears a t-shirt from the man's section, sometimes strangers adress her as "young man" and you would not question it twice if she were to go into the men's bathroom. But I think this gets more difficult the older you get and I also think it's easier for most trans-men to pass than for trans-women (not saying at all that it's easy).

Like I said, I'm excited to start the subject of trandgender people next year but I'm also super nervous as I'll know more than the other kids in my class and.. well I'm guessing you can see where this is going.. Also, predators aren't gonna care about bathroom signs??? If you really wanna help kids then why don't they make it so that stalls have no holes to peek through? Or, even better, just make individual bathrooms! I mean a 60-year-old man can use the bathroom with a 3-year-old yet a transboy can't just take a whizz? Come on!

People are born trans, nobody who suffers from gender dysphoria chooses it. People can't just choose whatever gender they want, that's not what this is about. Because trans is more than just a feeling. I agree that gender norms and sex isn't the same thing, though gender itself and sex does go slightly hand in hand. Which is why trans people go as far typically as to change our bodies or appearance to match the gender our brain tells us we are.

I'm going to be honest. And I'm afraid of writing this comment because of how judgmental and invalidating people can be about this. But I'm going to say it anyways. I'm Non Binary. I identify as non binary. The first time I realized I had dysphoria, I knew it wasn't something you could just get over and joke about forever. I never asked to feel this way. I never agreed to feel uncomfortable every time I looked at myself. No one wakes up and willingly goes "I hate my body." No one chose to become depressed or emotionally unstable because they got dysphoric and they're not allowed to change. Or they cant afford it. Or they're afraid of being judged. Every day. If people don't feel good, and want to change themselves to be like how they feel, what they truly are...Why do others act like they're about to commit murder? Trans people, no matter what they identify as, aren't hurting anyone. If anything, they're healing themselves, because they can be who they are. No one is dying. There should be no more pain. Everyone is so fearful of what simply isn't true.

They are so worried about men claiming to be trans women using the bathroom to abuse someone, but then the same could be said if they force trans men to women bathrooms, then a cis man could just say "oh I'm a trans man with a packer" as an excuse Mischievous people will always find a way to do mischievous stuff no matter the situation

Honestly why aren't all bathrooms just gender neutral though? Or at least everywhere should have a gender neutral bathroom, because I get if some people might be uncomfortable being completely mixed, but it seems so much better to me

Alistair Lyon my college put two unisex bathrooms on the ground floor and the rest are men and women bathrooms. The ground floor ones are the main ones, so if, let’s say a trans woman used a unisex bathroom, she wouldn’t be outed because those toilets are in the prime location to take a pee 😂

There should also be more than single person unisex bathrooms, because (at least at my school) people that don't need them take all of them weather to vape or not I don't know. It sucks when breaks are 5 mins long and you can't wait for one to open.

In my school there’s separate toilets for the sixth form pupils, no ones allowed to use them apart from the sixth form (there’s 3 and they’re all like little separate rooms). However, recently my school decided to let trans pupils of all years use them because legally they can’t let them go into the the ‘incorrect bathrooms’. My trans friend told me that he feels much better about this whole bathroom thing because he’s now not forced to use the girls bathroom. He also is allowed to change in there for pe but unfortunately is still made to join the girls pe lessons🙁

I’m not trans myself, but these things made me so angry. I don’t understand why people have such a problem with grasping that transgender people are just PEOPLE not monsters. Aghhhhhhhhh

You know what really bugs me about all of this is how it ends up affecting those of us who are trans. For example, I as a transman assumed for some time that I would never have any issues in a men's bathroom. After all, that was a transgirl issue. But I had someone call my college campus' security on me for being a "woman" in the men's room. I know another transguy who's had this happen to him at his highschool. And yet my friends who are transgirls are scared to use the women's restroom because of bullshit like this when honestly? As long as they get in and get out they're fine. This kind of fearmongering just ends up causing way too many complications for trans people in the end. Just let us pee

are they just forgetting that if a man wanted to they could go into a female's bathroom anyway? It is not a valid argument for refusing women access to a bathroom...
