Tramsim | The Tram Simulator | Start Of Shift

Ойындар

Hello and welcome to another Tramsim episode!
Today we'll be paying another visit to Tramsim Vienna! As the Munich addon has been announced by Aerosoft for the 4th November, we'll get back into the Tramsim spirits by playing the "Start Of Shift" scenario.
This will involve us preparing a tram in the depot, driving empty stock down to Stefan-Fadinger Platz, and then driving up to Prater Hauptallee in service. It's all going well until I fall out the bottom of the map! Typical.
Fancy treating yourself to Tramsim? Why not save some money and buy it from this link:

I enjoyed the sarcastic part about the pride crossing. :) I just wanted to give you some informations on what you are seeing when you play this game. You start in "Favoriten" (#10) a worker´s district that mainly developped in the 19th century. When you are in the tunnel above your head there is a huge road which got built after the outer city walls got torn down in the 19th century. You leave the tunnel in the district "Wieden" (#4) which is a former suburb or "Vorstadt" (translates to Fore city I guess). It is a much more middle-class status area. The building fabric is also much older than in Favoriten, as these former villages got burnt down before the 2nd Turkish besieged in 1683 some buildings will date back to the 18th century or so. After the station "Resselgasse" you enter the Area of the "Glacis" which had to be kept free of any building so any enemy would not be able to approach the city walls easily. In the 1860ies Emperor Franz Josef decided to tear down the City Walls as it appeared to be anachronistic to have City walls in the 19th century. A huge Cityplanning Contest took place and the Boulevard "Ring" (translates to Ring as it is surrounding the Inner City) got built. And along with it tons of palaces, important buildings etc. So the building fabric you drive through in that area dates back to the 2nd half of the 19th century mostly. Some buildings got destroyed in WW2 and are of later origin. On your right hand going along the Ringstraße (Ringstreet) in the direction you did there is the Inner City which evolved since the Antique times. You can still find the Outlay of the Roman Roads in today´s Inner City. At Schottenring you start driving next to the Donaukanal, a branch of the Danube. After the Urania you enter "Landstraße", the third district of similar history and structure as the 4th. At some point you cross the Donaukanal and are now in the 2nd district "Leopoldstadt", named after Emperor Leopold. He expelled the Jews from the City Center onto that island in the Danube which often suffered heavy floodings. The "Prater" is a former Hunting Ground but got opened to the Public in the 18th century by Emperor Joseph. SInce then the Prater has become a place for the Viennese to hang out and relax, go to Picnics and there is also a part full of rides, theatres and so on. It is I think one of Europe´s oldes amusement parks with his 250 years. About the wording of some stations: The Ringstraße, as it is so long, bears different names in order to make them easier to identify. There is the Opernring next to the Opernhaus, the Burgring next to the Hofburg, the Universitätsring next to the University and so on. "Schotten" means Scots. In the medieval Austria´s rulers the Babenberger, who actually captured the King of England Richard Lionheart after he mocked the red-white-red banner of the Babenbergers after a Siege on the crusade, called Irish monks to the city of Vienna as they wanted to make the city prosper. They founded a monastery. Somehow the Viennese thought that the monks are from Scotland and so the monastery got referred to as the Schottenstift (scotsmonastery). The City gate (Tor = gate) next to the monastery also got the name. Therefore the station: Schottentor. Because of the gate next to the Schottenstift. The gate is now gone of course, but the name and station remains. The Station Salztorbrücke is also interesting. Salz = Salt Tor = Gate Brücke = Bridge So there was another gate, the Saltztor (saltgate) which was reasonably close to the Donaukanal as the salt from which the gate got its name got delivered to Vienna on boats coming from the Western part of Austria (Hallstatt is one famous example, translating to Salt Place) via the rivers. The salt got dropped next to the gate and then brought into the city. Next to this gate a bridge was erected to cross over into Leopoldstadt and therefore the name: Salztotbrücke. I hope this was somewhat interesting for you and this awakens your interest in the City... so you don´t feel you go through historyless, voud places. ;) Cheers mate!

Joe doesn't want to wait 2 minutes Joe "advance time 2 mins" Game "You must now wait 7 minutes" Have to say I'm loving this game, very simple in it's idea yet very enjoyable to watch and we should never mention the switch rod again lol Hope you have a great time in Austria Joe, I expect a full rendition of Eidelweiss at some point ;) haha. Safe travels and stay safe as the world is a different place nowadays. And be careful of that big void where you fall through the centre of the world!!

Good video. Trams aren't like cars or buses, like a road train in a way.
