Great video! I always used to think Rugby station was massive back in these days! Used to change there as lived in Northampton back then! The sound of those engines takes me back!

Thanks Hayden. This was indeed one of the first runs of the Virgin livery trains on the WCML. The variety back then was superb, and many mid afternoon into evening sessions could bring you a haul like this.

Amazing footage Darren.See early example's EWS, Freightliner and Virgin Trains on this one is truly brilliant. And seeing all those 92's in one Video is superb. One of the best again Darren. Many thanks for sharing buddy.

Wonderful selection again - fabulous - great sounds from the 87s - noticed Howard of Effingham and remember Michael Palin referring to that name on Confessions of a Train Spotter

Thank you, I knew you'd really enjoy this one :-) This was a very good visit indeed with the weather and loco variety, but there's still more to come from Rugby yet - and Nuneaton and Crewe........

Excellent video. Another great selection from Rugby from your past collection. Nice to see the 87's and 90's on passenger duties, as well as the 58, 31 and 60. The later two rarely seen on the WCML any more. Interesting to see the Virgin liveried train with Class 90, this year must have been the year that privatisation came in?

Thanks Ian. Some classic locos on offer here, and indeed some of them from Michael Palin's series, all be it in BR blue at the time of course.

Thanks very much. I might join you in that time machine then, although I fancy a trip back a little bit further for the Westerns I missed seeing in action.

Thanks very much. Yes, it wasn't much of a surprise to hear you liked the pair of 86's the most :-)

Thanks very much. I don't think I've got anymore from Birmingham, but I've got a couple of Nuneaton selections with some interesting workings in them - for instance diesels dragging electrics to/from Birmingham and a pair of Class 50's!

Ah, ah, ah! Bloody smashing, I'll bet you can't guess my highlight? Yep, the 86/6s, lovely.

Thanks very much Steve. This was a real transitional period, but sadly I don't have much more footage after Summer 1997 on video. Still, there's plenty more footage still to come each weekend from 1987-1997, and if I can scan some decent images the missing gap in movies from 1997-2009 may appear as photo montage movies instead - could be an Autumn/Winter project.

Totally agree with you there, a real shame they're not coming back as well like the 56's are.

Too many 87's went before their time :-(

Thanks Keith. A bit different these days - and you can get some good spells there - but with hindsight of course the 1990's was the last great era for such loco variety.
