Trains In The 1990's Clay Cross & Toton June 1994
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Clay Cross is the main featured location, with 20's, 37's, 47's, 56's, 60's, 158's, and HST's seen passing, before a short stop off at Toton where 58's can been seen in action alongside various locos on the TMD - all filmed on Wednesday 8th June 1994.
Later movies from Clay Cross feature even more freight and loco variety!

Absolutely brilliant video, I spent all of my spare time at Clay Cross late 80's early 90's it brought back a lot of memories especially the claging 47's doing a fine kettle impersonation

Thanks very much. I used to love that spot down by the trackside when you could park your car down there - shame the palisade fencing went up followed by a gate.
Great video, really enjoyed watching.
Very nice video, brings back fond memories tons of variety. a bygone age unfortunatley.
Thanks Steve. Yes, some nice bonus moves of locos between Midlands and Yorkshire depots on this visit.
Awsum clag and thrash off the 47 @5:15! Great vid again!
Thanks. Yes, not only many of the locos and workings having gone, but sadly the trackside location too with high pallisade fencing and no direct access as in the 90's either - just the shot off the bridge now.
Thanks Ian. There was certainly plenty of sights and sounds on offer on this visit, and there's even better to come from future(or should that be past)Clay Cross movies. Don't know about the power units in the locos then, but have you noticed how quite a few 66's are starting to develop more clag now, especially with the heavier loads.
Excellent collection Darren. I really enjoy these classic shots. Great footage of the 20s on the weedkiller and christ that 47 on the empty steels was clagging away! Very good variety of traction sadly so rare nowadays. I certainly liked the class 47 convoy, so much better to see than the 66 convoys of today. Some of that track under the bridge looked dodgy though!
I was lucky as they also feature in my earlier Clapham Junction movie - although not spraying there unlike here, where indeed it was a bit close and did smell a bit from what i remember!
Great shots Darren - superb, wonderful footage and beautiful sounds coming off those locomotives and amazing clag-meister displays, makes you wonder if the power units went longer between servicing/overhauls back then to cause so much clag - also a brief shot and distinctive sound of the 08 shunter, I used to watch one of those working the yard by Eastfield signal box shifting impossible loads - great shot of Dr Weedol not seen one of those in ages
Excellent video - very mouthwatering. You could almost rename this video 'Classic Clag Clips'!! Great vintage sounds too :)
Thanks. Yes indeed, more Sulzer clag again following on from my Basingstoke 47 clag fest. I may compile a movie just of 'Classic Clag Clips' after working my way through more footage.
Weed killing is a bit faster these days, well, where they do it !! Spoilt for choice in these days were'nt we.. Another nostalgic video Darren.. Cheers a lot
Thanks. Yes, you never think what you're filming at the time might become part of history sooner than you might realise, so one good reason for filming workings of today as who knows when they might disappear - look at Virgin WCML for instance!
Nice to see some footage of the choppers on the weedkiller train. Hope you didn't inhale too much of that spray!
Thanks. It has been suggested a few times that i do something like that - guess i'm just too generous :-)
Maybe not a new generation, but at least we're getting 56's back from Colas and DCR at the moment, plus 47's and 20's from DRS and more 'Choppers' from Harry Needle - then in about 12 months new diesels from Vossloh for DRS.
Cheers Keith. Give me those 20's on weedkilling duties over an MPV anytime!
Yes I have Darren and some of them smoking very well which deffo gets the NN seal of approval - also some of the 70s have been clagging slightly on movies I have seen on KZread - Hayden got one clagging slightly when pulling a part set HOBC on his recent visit to Crewe
Very nice. You should put these on ebay make a few quid

I've noticed, I love locos, especially diesel electric locos from this period, as in generally built in the 60s/70s. Retired and decommissioned in the 90s/noughties. Etc etc and all that. I'm Irish and I love our limited old fleet. I love British old locos too from that era. But, when it comes to European mainland locos......................fuck me they're ugly!! Why so? BTW, what is that loco @ 15:25?

This was a pretty golden era for locos, now nearly all gone sadly. I can't get into European locos either. at 15:25 that was a Class 58.
