A problematic start to my day as I was detrained at East Midlands Parkway station after 43296 failed on the front of the 10:34 STP-NOT. The power car actually failed at London, resulting in a nearly 30 minute late departure and leaving 43251 on the back, to do all the work! Pushing the set with 296 dead on the front as far as East Midlands where it was cancelled. The set then ran empty to Derby Etches Park depot to be taken care of.
So a video of two halves. The first few shots taken at East Midlands Parkway and the second half at Derby. The failed HST set can be seen leaving EMD and seen again at Derby shunting into Etches Park.
As included are EMR Meridians, HST, 158 & 156 & Cross Country Voyager & Turbostar.
The last shot was filmed a few days later at Leicester station of the only VP-185 powered set out that day.

9:32 that is such a shame. I hope they'll keep that last remaining around for a bit longer. 😢 On the upside however; i hope they (emr) have already donated two of their powercars to the 125Group, as they will be converted back to Valenta HSTs. 🥰

@@whatdoyoumeanbro4964 Well no. Not in service, ofcourse. But as was (and hopefully still is) planned; EMR would donate two power cars to the 125Group, as soon as the vp185 HSTs would retire. These two power cars would in time be reinstated with their original Valenta engines, just as the 125Group did with the prototype 41 001, before it was returned to the national railway museum, under the projectname of "Project Miller". The two 43 power cars however will become 125Group's property, instead of a loan as was with the 41 001! And since the days of the retiring VP185s are here now, I'm very anxious and excited if this actually will become reality. As is, the 41 001 is the only train left with a fully functioning Valenta engine. 😊

Do you know why they are take the vp185 hsts out of service they sound amazing when they fire up and scream

Because the VP185 is an older engine and is not as clean as the MTU. Besides it would have made no sense if EMR would have only got the MK3 coaches and left the powercars behind.

@@oliverthegreatwesternengin8029 If I'm honest, I've a strong feeling that the maintenance team at Nevile Hill depot in Leeds will be pleased to be maintaining more MTU's - VP185's have basically caused problems in the depot if you get my drift. I can't recall ever using the words 'strong feeling'.
