Trains at Crewe - 23/01/2024
Filmed on 23/01/2024. So, this was supposed to the the second out of three stations. But, due to a fatality between Macclesfield and Stoke-On-Trent, the line was closed throughout the day. Would like to say all thoughts and prayers are for those involved. This is Crewe (Season 11 Episode 2)
This did lead to seeing Avanti West Coast and Cross Country Trains all on divert which they didn't serve Macclesfield & Stoke-On-Trent. Instead, They would run non stop to Stafford to await time from there. Fortunately, the storm passed and cleared up. East Midlands Railway had major issues as despite them wanting to run via Stoke-On-Trent, the trains were heavily delayed and even some had to terminate at earlier stations where rail replacement buses are in operation.
Its the old and the new variety at Crewe as the endless testing for Transport For Wales and London North Western Railway as they tested their class 197's which are in place of the withdrawn class 175's and the all new class 730's which are due to replace the class 350/2's. Where will the future take them? Well, that remains to be seen.

Crewe is such a good station, one of the more underrated stations around for doing two hours at because of the diverse traction that you get, and the views as well for the long shots with the camera as well

Totally agree with you Ian. Yeah, no more than a few hours needed really but for the variety of the old and the new in such short space of time. Also, not forgetting the diverted Cross Country and Avanti traffic :-)
0:01 that 170 is what I came on haha! I saw the Royal Mail train in the platform and also departing

Ah nice one. Yeah, the Royal Mail class 325's were on a very late crew trainer run :-)

Ah the 350/2, fair enough. Well, they've had their first class removed and all standard class now. To be fair, they are good for commuter and stopper services runs now :-)
