Trains at Caulfield; Metro Trains & Steam Trains - Melbourne Transport
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video we visit Caulfield, a major interchange station in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs that serves as the junction between the Cranbourne/Pakenham Lines and the Frankston Line. We see some trains at the station mostly recorded on a Sunday morning where we see the usual variety of Metro Trains, including Comeng, Siemens, X'trapolis and HCMT's, plus a V/Line Vlocity on a Gippsland Line service.
However its not a typical Sunday as we see steam locomotives K153 & K190 operating steam shuttles between Flinders Street and Glen Huntly. Even more atypical we see the first shuttle of the day towards Glen Huntly pass through the station on platform 1, which is generally only used for citybound Frankston Line trains.
Caulfield opened on the 7th May 1879 when the line from Flinders Street to Oakleigh was constructed. The station was rebuilt into its current four-platform layout in 1914 when the line from South Yarra to Caulfield was quadruplicated, and apart from some minor alterations the station hasn't changed too much over the years.
The last time I visited Caulfield for a trainspotting video was back in 2017 and there has been some changes since then, including the introduction of the High Capacity Metro Trains' (HCMT's) on the Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines, and more recent works in 2023 to reconfigure the track layout to (controversially) fully separate the Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines from the Frankston Line owing to the introduction of the CBTC signalling system ahead of the Metro Tunnel opening in 2025.

Yes I recently decided to start editing my videos with DaVinci Resolve after building myself a new computer. The majority of videos will be edited with Resolve going forward.
