Thanks Roy, tremendous memories for myself being a ‘youth’ 🙂 When a train journey was part of the day trip to Skegness & not a chore that it is now

It’s nice to be reminded of earlier days where level crossings were common on country routes . Great video .

Lovely views of Skegness, especially the old box, was lucky enough to be invited in during summer holidays, drinking tea with the "Bobby".

I remember travelling north from Firsby as a child to Mablethorpe, they destroyed the heart of the county when they closed the ELR from Grimsby through Louth and Alford, though most of the trackbed remains from Firsby to Louth and almost to Mablethorpe

Great stuff. Fantastically filmed with an amazing atmosphere and attention to details. Probably the best British Rail video I have seen yet. Thanks so much for making it available.

These old trains were nice things to look at like the steam trains before them, before my time. They were to ride on as well. As a kid, I would sit at the station with my friends at times and watch them go by.

Brilliant, especially the view inside Wainfleet box, I was invited in one afternoon, I have wound the gates and pulled the signals, I was gutted the next summer when the barriers appeared, no more lever 23,24 and 25, the unit T308 was the unit I first travelled to Skeggy in as well, summer 1992, as 117308 on the 0957 through from Sheffield

Very nicely filmed Roy with a lot of patience and careful planning plus good use of a tripod to keep the camera steady in those windy exposed areas of Lincolnshire.

Very enjoyable Roy, thanks for posting this up. I explored this line myself around the same time photographing the signalling and this brought back happy memories. Good that someone was far-sighted enough to take good quality video.

Anyone spot the Ford Capri in the scrapyard? :) Great video, thankyou so much Roy for sharing. Crazy to think it all died with the Deltics when all this heritage stuff was still happening. Reminds me too of my range rover days heading out from Leicester on the choppers to Skeggy as far as Derby :))

7:46 Hardly worth jumping up on to the step, he could have just walked down to the wagons. 10:40 The driver is giving you the evil-eye there... Great film, though. Thanks for compiling it and posting.
