This Hudson, is a J-3a Dreyfuss Super Hudson that pulled the famous 20th Century Limited. The 20th Century Limited was the most exquisite and luxurious passenger service, giving you the literal red carpet.

What about the T1 vs Mallard. They're building a T1 from scratch and it was said it could beat the Mallard in speed. It was a 4-4-4-4 and was estimated it could reach a speed of 140 mph.

  • @TheTexasTrainMaster

The New York Central Hudson was one of the best steam locomotes ever built for the American railroad not only was it fast but it was sleek and looked pretty futuristic almost as impressive as the Milwaukee roads Hiawatha what you got there it's one of the best examples of American ingenuity in the 20th century it's a shame they were all scrappedthat particular locomo design was built by Henry Dreyfuss it was called the Dreyfus Hudson they had two special variants made of the 200 one pulled the 20th century limited like that when you have there and the other one pulled the empire State Express the way that a steam will come over for streamlined in America at least on the New York Central is they took an existing New York Central Hudson and made a streamlined shroud to go around it to make it look more elegant and classy and it worked it really was amazing

Actually when you were talking about American engines speeds versus british engines, supposedly there were cases where locomotive engineers clocked the T1 at speeds over mallard’s record (130 mph) although it was never official so we may never know. There is a trust in the US that is working to build a T1 from scratch, similar to how tornado was built over in the UK. I’ve been following their progress on their Facebook page.
