Train brake was called "dual brake handle" as it was vacuum and air. When I was doing my driver training I spent the day in front of the class describing how it worked. Loco brake was called the "straight air brake" Power handle was called the "regulator" carried over from the steam days. As for not knowing where to put the regulator it came with practice and road knowledge although every train and loco handles differently even if the train is made up of the same class and coaching stock. Am definetly going to buy this game looks very life like. I finished with BR in 1985 You wouldn't have overloaded the generator going into the yellow, believe me your fine 😉

Great video as always. The route looks so atmospheric in the time of day you selected. Have had one run on it so far on a bright summers day but am hooked already, as this is the railway period I remember the most. The feel of the route is just right and the stock excellent. Cannot wait to see what DLC is released for it.

@@PTGRail To be honest it was kind of sad and Victoria was almost a symbol of what was going on with the Railways as a whole nationally, it had such huge capacity (something Manchester desperately needs today) and it was "improved" in a way that made it a shell of itself. That being said some of my happiest work experiences(and craziest)where while there!!!

@@PTGRail 😢 I will literally take the Southern service from Hastings to Bexhill which literally has no point, why not drive to your house (wherever that is) and play train sim on your PC until I fall asleep on the keyboard. I nearly did that at Blackfriars, so I had to stop at St Pancras. Plus I'd love to try out the DLC you have. Such as the Class 90 and London-Ipswich Line. If you had the 455/8 that would be helpful 😂. It's funny but stupid my dad has a season ticket from Hastings to London any way, so in a few years I've got a free trip 😂, I can literally go from Hastings to Ashford, St Pancras, ANY London Transport, Brighton, I dont think Portsmouth. Waterloo East, then Waterloo? Ahhh I'd love it. Just the fact that it would be completely free for me except food and if i stay overnight!

PTG, please can you post some more videos we really miss you. Also I'm really happy because for £28 I got: Portsmouth Direct Line Waterloo one (I have both, and so I can re-skin it to Southern since I'm aiming at Clapham Junction currently), Isle Of Wight (to get London Underground freeware), North Somerset (To finish off 1066 Line), Class 319 (for scenarios around Clapham), and Class 442 (London-Brighton). I got all these routes for under £30 with this deal, trust me if you want anything in steam then DO NOT MISS IT! If you spend over £30 you'll get a £5 discount, and up to 75% off. I have all routes in London except from Ipswich, Peterborough, and Oxford, although I did consider that one, but I have all the trains for it anyway and wasnt bothered about the route. Also have you ever thought of making timelapses? Because when I want a route I find it easy to watch a timelapse rather than 1 hour each route. And you'd be great at it, since you 99% of the time stay in the cab except from a view at a platform. I think, and hope doing that will up your game in the world of KZread. I dojt understand why no one pays much attention to you. Maybe because they get bored within 10 minutes and they want a quick 10 minute overview of the map, and again I think youd be great showcasing routes, you'd have the perfect description for everything.😁 Good luck in the future and never give up.

Leeds is still a busy station as of 2018 particularly the main route to London Kings Cross via Doncaster. Manchester Victoria is probably the Marylebone of Manchester's two main stations. Piccadilly is the city's busiest and provide regular trains to London Euston. Also to other destinations too like Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Almost forgot about the tramlink. There was an episode of Sooty & Co. during the 1990s I think featuring the late Matthew Corbett.

In the late 70's my friends and I walked the dissused train tunnel and found animal bones and devil worship images on the walls which freaked us out. Later in the 80's I travelled this train route between Leeds and Manchester on a regular basis. I loved the 101 which stopped at every station.

How to you know all speed limits? Do you have the plan of the routes? TSW look great, better than TS 2019 but the sound (it's my opinion) are bad.

Great video .... I have enjoyed playing your video while simultaneously driving the route on Xbox to learn the route. Wonder if you could please help .. couple of evenings I have been driving the DMU, in the service mode Marsden to Leeds. I am especially struggling with departing Dewsbury and Batley. Both lead into a step uphill gradient, and I only can get up to about 20mph in 1st gear when departing from these stations. If I try any of the other gears then I just a lose momentum and eventually get stuck half way up the hill! I have tried stopping just onto the platform at Dewsbury, and then use the longer platform (on straight level) to get a bit of run towards the hill, but this doesn't work at Batley due the shorter platform. I presume this is due to the DMU not being powerful enough to get up the steep hills, but if anyone has a driving tips to get up steep gradients I would be grateful? (PS ive tried the switching RPM to engine 2 button but this doesn't seem to help - but would be interested to know what this functionality should be used for?)

Would you mean a 1C-C1 wheel arrangement perchance? :-) The letters refer to the number of driven axles, so a C0-C0 had 3 driven axles per bogey with no lead / trailing 'dead' axles. In the case of the Class 45 (and 40), they had a dead "pony" axle in front of 3 driving axles. Likewise a class 31 was an A1A-A1A because it had one live axle, 1 dead, then one live on each bogey. My apologies if I'm confirming what you already knew, but I thought it might be good to clarify this subject for others who may not know this.

Hello PTG! I’ve seen in the past that you said you have train simulator (rail works) at max settings, but honestly while watching your train sim videos it seems like there is something else involved like some sort of mod or filter when editing the video. Especially at the beginning of the APT video you made, the train itself and the interior look insanely good! I just wanted to know if this is in fact 100% vanilla graphics with no editing or mods. Thank you!
