I played part 2 earlier and I did not know about that red I was going track speed past the yellow and applied emergency as soon as I saw it was red in 200 yards had no chance.

Yeah they need better Tutorials. The whole time you spend switching cars at the Yard could be the perfect spot. You get 2 machines in tandem all the time, so how about we show you how to make them work together. 3 or 4, in single unit or multimodal configuration. If it wasn't for your vids I'd bee so angry at this game right now.

definitely my second favorite mission on Sand Patch Grade

I didn't know that surprised signal was there. I failed the mission for passing the signal at danger. Man, was I mad.

Your videos have been a great help. Can you please retry this scenario because many players are suspecting there is a bug after recent updates that causes derailment while using dynamic brakes. I'm getting the same problem even with your setup. It'd be nice to have a veteran's opinion on this whether it is a bug or not lol.

Watch out for the those hills they'll take your train every chance they get. 🙃

Ok. Today I got it. I Play on PS5 and they changed the behaviour of the brakes. Last year you had to Drive How it is shown in this Video. Using the Dynamic brake. Now you have to use the automatic brake but very careful. When at 100 use the Independent brake very careful. When also at 100, then use the Dynamic brake but only to Maximum 2. Drive slowly and try Not to use the Dynamic brake. It Took me 30 Minutes longer but I came Home safely

That slope can be very demanding if you don't set your locos correctly. Keep trying.

Love the vids, great tutorials for having fun - yet with this one I'm having roll back issues after the sneaky yellow light immediate red light combo. Sad thing is I'll have to restart and hope it'll work out better next time :( edit: I literally CAN NOT set my train up perfectly, I redid it according to your vid for like the 6th time and it still struggles and wheelspins etc. even when I just want to start the train...

I had the same problem. I slowed down to about 15 mph around the area where I would derail. Made it thru and slowly picked up speed coming down the grade

Sitting in chair you may use left and arrows keys to observer display and so on. Also, sitting, you can "teleport" by Crtr+"-" or Ctrl+"+"

To properly teleport to end of train, before teleporting activate external view, PC key "3" and again activate external view (press 3 again). You'll move camera to end of train. Then press "1" and return to front cab. Then press Ctrl-"-". Voila! you are sitting in the rear locomotive.

Can u teleport on the Xbox version?

You didnt turn on banking comm on the rear and only on the front loco. Should only one have it on?

before you can use your dynamic braking the throttle has to be in Idle for 10 seconds/

Question, do you really need Banking Com ? I though the Distributed power fuse was there so the trailing loco at the rear would power itself

You need banking COMM for the rear locomotive to work unless you want to pull dead weight with whatever weight those coal hoppers already have xD

How do know when to use long hood or in two trains and when you use four trains

You made sense out of this game

i was able to stop juuust in time in fornt of that "nasty suprise" in fact, it was 9 metres.

I watched your video while playing the Scenario myself actually. Gave your train / ingame time a five minute headstart. Might be considered cheating but hey it worked :D

Hey I love the videos you give like the best tips to me...I don't have this game yet because I need to see how these operate a bit more before I buy. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy them :D To answer your question. I select the view based on my viewer's feedback. I understand that some may prefer me to stick only to cab view as it is most realistic one, but some viewers would also like to see the gameplay from other perspective and that's what I'd like to achieve. Some videos will include mixed perspective, some will be focused only on cab view and some will be recorded from external view. Later on in this series you will find more videos recorded from the cab.

Just a suggestion..Ride in the cab. You might miss less crossing W signals. Viewing your video from external camera flying through the trees was tedious to watch. Thanks you posting this video.

And watch out if u do the CN missions the auto racks in Kingston I think it was I failed many a time going too fast

Hi, Fluffy, first of all, thank you for your video. I am trying to do the same mission powering America Part 2, however since it is a long journey, I decided to auto save the progress in the middle, however the problem I am having is that the next day when I try to continue the checkpoint I've saved, I cannot engage the locomotive to move forward, the controls dont work and no power is assigned to the train and it just go to a full stop. Any Idea if this is a bug of the game? I have heard that it was in the past. While using the auto save during a journey, both the front and rear locomotives are started, running instead of just the first one we are driving. Appreciated your help in advance. Thank you

In all honesty, I’ve never used the save/load function. But maybe you should just check if all brakes are released and eventually use bankingComm once more just to make sure everything works.

@@edenlincoln check the three switches. I found that the Gen Field switch had moved to the "OFF" posn.

It's not working, the independent brake icon still come up, I did what you do, Full application, and then released, but it's still not working, I really frustrated

Try and pull the independent brake lever lower than UI indicator tells you and hold it in that position for about a second and then release left mouse button, it may trigger then.

@@FluffyAdmiral Finally, I success finish Powering America part 1, I fixed it by changing the Display setting to low, The issue is with the FPS, as I can't get the objective to complete if my FPS is below 30. When FPS increases to above 40-45 FPS the game registers the brake as being released and the scenario can progress.

Make sure the brakes in the front loco are set to “Cut in”

@@huskal You may try and move the independent brake lever to Bail-out position and hold it there for a second or two. Also front loco brakes should be set to Cut in and Lead while trailing loco needs to be set to Cut out and Trail. Hope that will help.

@@FluffyAdmiral I'm still in the section where I have to load coal. Even after the bailout position on independent brakes, the train starts to move but the symbol from the independent brake does not go. As per your video from 8:18 to 8:28.

How do you control the blue bar, mine is at full throttle going slow?

Blue bar will increase as you add throttle, but if you add too much too soon you will cause a wheelspin and your train won't be able to move quickly.

@@stash8293 I'm not sure what could be the problem then, perhaps you're not getting any power from the rear locomotive that is supposed to help you by pushing the whole train. You may also try and use some sand while moving off to prevent wheels from slipping and get the train moving.

Just a fyi you set up them wrong the distributed power is supposed to be on on all locomotives and so is the radio for them to work properly otherwise u don’t get as much power in return

Hi, I've recently downloaded by steam and I am having a strange problem on Powering America Part 2 , right after passing sand patch tunnel while proceeding downhill, even I reduce the speed 15mph train derails and mission automatically re-starting. I've tried to re-start the game but still same, any ideas ???

I never had that issue to be honest, and as long as you follow the signals, everything should work fine. Remember that speed limit increase applies only after entire train passes the sign post. Decrease applies as soon as your loco reaches the sign post.

@@FluffyAdmiral there is no problem about speed limits, the speed indicator is neither yellow nor red, problem is loco derails (crashes) completely, I had the same problem on next missions last part today (coal freight Yoder to Cumberland), with other locos there was no problem going downhill by dynamic and auto brakes, looks like those AC4400 locos have a matter with me :)

You're not alone. All the posts I've found about it say that you have to use the loco brake and be really gentle on the dynamic. If I go above b4 then I derail as well. Also, the loco brake is still on at the very rear loco. You can see the bc goes to 64 when he changes it to lead. You can get it to 0 by pulling the lever into bail off after changing it to lead, or cut in and lead (I can't remember exactly what combo). The train starts rolling without any power at all when the brakes are completely off. I think that's why Fluffy can get away with less dynamic for a while compared to me. I only got the game a few days ago, and it seems that a recent patch introduced the derail issue. Also, just touching the train brake derails it on the down slope after the tunnel.

@@coldsummersgzzdageneral5508 I think I know what you mean... Before connecting to them, go out, make sure couplers are released both on your last wagon/loco and wagons you want to couple to. I think I had the same issue in some of the Sand Patch Grade missions. just check out my train Sim world playlist for those :P

Ok sports fans, I've got a good one for you. Sand Patch Grade Powering America. I board the train and follow all of the instructions. After establishing slow mode and setting the slow speed to 2 MPH as requested, I get to where it asks me to release the independent brake and apply power. I do this. The request remains, unlike the KZread videos I've watched. I receive no acknowledgement tone and the message area does not clear. I get the train to 1.8 MPH, and the coal is loading it's face off. I get to the end of the loading. The request to release the independent brake and apply power message remains. I am not told to stop the train, or anything else that I've seen in any of the KZread videos. I admit to being confused by all of this. Any practical suggestions would be most appreciated. I found an instance where someone else had a similar experience. I checked my advanced settings and found that the MAX FPS was in fact set to 62, far beyond their reported setting of being below 30. So much for that. I will once again consult the STEAM focus groups for more insight into resolving this puzzle.

Unfortunately, I fear there is a larger issue as I tried 5 times to apply and then release the independent brake, holding it in the released position for a nice 5 or 6, 1000s count. I will try to get a more definitive response from our good friends in the STEAM user forum. Thanks again.
