@@wrennugent3266 there's a better game that just came out called railroads online. It's multiplayer up to 64 people, you build your own track and it all runs off supply and demand. It's like If you took a little bit of Minecraft and mixed it in with a transport tycoon and train simulator.

@@Mike25654 Pretty much. The extravagant prices of their DLCs (and the fact that I can't play train sims for shit (I'm that terrible at them)) is what has kept me from buying Train Simulator (and Train Sim World), and I don't think that'll change anytime soon.

I mean the DLCs have been the same price for like 3 years 🤔 I'm not going to determine whether they're outrageous or fair I'm just saying they haven't really changed much when you considering the amount of people they actually have to pay to make these things and it's more of a hobby than it's a video game really you don't have to buy every DLC you buy the select one you want

@@e575fho ATS really has more revamped companies than the actual thing, possibly how they manage.

As a locomotive engineer, at slower speed like at the start of the game, instead of using a minimum brake reduction, I would use dynamic brake.

Legit got the achvements for driving the AC4400 and SD40 for driving 5 miles in them when I don't have the dlc by driving both of them in the CSX mission logs

As someone who's grew up around trains, my grandfather, uncle, and father all being railroaders, to see how little detail is actually being put into something as simple as the sound of a horn kinda stings, like trains are some of the coolest things in the world to me and when they only add an SD-40(-2), an AC4400CW, and GP-38 for freight is also something that is annoying, although the F-7 units get an exception. America has such a big history when it comes to railroading and even in the modern day we still have units from the 70's and 80's running so why does Dovetail only decide to put three of the same locomotives just with different railroad liveries on them, again the F-7 gets a exception.

I've had the experience driving an AC4400, and while I can't say much for the realism of the outside, they did an amazing job with the interior and exterior of the locomotive itself. The derail timing was amazing... lol Great video Jeff.

This pacific locomotive is so hard to use than both the other smaller locomotives are but this one has so many controls compared to the other ones I have to find a tutorial on how to use this thing because today I couldn't even get it to move

You can find the tutorial in the sand patch grade map. Same exact locomotive.

I always wait for these type of DLC’s to go on sale. 30 dollars can buy you a whole different video game

5:51 Afternoon, Jeff! Hope all is going well. Just would like to point out when you want to get moving, on your independent brake handle, you can pull it to the right to "bail off". This releases pressure throughout the train and will ultimately allow the train to start moving sooner than letting it slowly release throughout the train. Hope this helps!

Kinda wish Microsoft would come out with a train sim with the same tech that Flight Sim 2020 is using.

Hey Jeff, try using the dynamic brake instead of the train brake to reduce speed while moving 😀.

I’ve spent a lot of my time in Moab (if you can’t tell by my name) and the scenery is ok at best. The cliff faces are right, the general geography is alright, but the assets they used could (and SHOULD) be so much better. I’m a broke kid who struggles making money, so $30 is a lot to me, if I spend $30 on something, I’d want good quality. Something like Jon Rudas W900 for ATS is what I expect, not something that looks like they used the free assets in the unreal engine store.

Wow, with the all the visual bugs on road, train control problems, European truck trailers In America, traffic noises and lack of scenery I'd say the dlc not worth more than $5. Completely unacceptable for them to release this, an release it for $30. Just my 2 cents

6:30 it was taking a while because you needed to put tension within each cart to evenly pull the weight along into motion. :)

Dovetail has long since passed into irrelevancy for me. They're the definition of non-consumer friendly practices, whether it's pricing or quality. Derail Valley's big "Simulator" update at the end of this year is going to be the only train sim that's worth spending ANY time on.

You know, you run a fair argument. I only use TSW2 because I’m hungry for American train simulators. They completely abuse the American market, and half ass all of the American simulators. They do not go full realistic despite claims, and they throw too much money into PR versus actual development. The sounds are unclean, and realism is not as it should be. We need another good American Simulator.

@@jfavignano I was just playing TSW2 yesterday and pulled out my MSTS discs and thought about installing them. I’m anxious to see if anything comes of SimRail 2021 supposed to be Q3 this year.

The speed points are awarded in intervals of every I believe 1/4 mile. If any point in that interval you go over the speed it deducts the points at the next interval and doesn't reflect the speed at the time the message is displayed.

The SCS software doing the best job among simulation games

I think DTG knows they're at the end of the line and are trying to squeeze every last dollar out of the community before they fold. Eventually, one day, someone will come around to making a decent train simulator.........but it won't be DTG.

Oh yeah the only reason that they dare overprice their products so much is because they have the monopoly, since they own train simulator and Train Sim world. Like that's ridiculous, they just keep milking train simulator and I haven't seen much difference between older versions. So yeah when a decent sim comes out they will need to catch up and actually properly price their products.

@@Rosne134 Well Simrail 2021 is coming out later this year. The company that is making it actually makes train simulators for Rail compaines for drivers to do training so hopefully that can challenge dtg in the pc market at least. On console this game has zero competition

you should be able to move the throttle forward to the dynamic braking setting and it will save you from using the brakes so much. that way it uses the resistance from the traction motors to keep control of your speed.

The blank textured sign is a collectable item, ie it has a hidden texture

Two settings of playing and had only two journey scenarios have the load checkpoint bug so far myself and agree its little steep on price. Great vid keep up all the great content always enjoy.

One tip I highly recommend you use in terms of freight trains is to use the dynamic brakes when going downhill. On the AC4400CW the dynamic brake is triggered by pushing the throttle forward. Also at 18:26 that is a collectible. You have to walk up to it and it adds a poster on the sign. They are all spread out through the route

One of the main bugs that happened with me is my rear wheels didn't move a bit. It pissed me off because of them releasing so early with all these bugs. Keep up the good work man!

LOL the engineer that came back was a different guy from the one you started with. I got this too, and I couldn't finish this stupid one because it said I derailed the second I sat in the other engines once you get there. And I did this pain-staking thing 3 times all for the same result. Not happy at all with this DLC. Oh and you can use the independent brake and you can hold your speed a lot easier

12:43 with train air brakes, it always a fun game of trying to find the sweet spot between the amount of brake pressure you're giving and the speed/power you have. And yes raildriver is a little finicky nowadays but is still a great product.

As far as the over under limit points I think it's a problem with their "checkpoint" system of monitoring track speed. If you were over at any point in that section then you get dinged. I run into that a lot even in the base game.

I agree. For $30 there should be at least a couple of new locos, not just re-skins of the default TSW2 locos (along with better QA-testing).

Thanks Jeff, very useful. I didn't get it because all the videos I'd seen were of trains creeping along at heritage railway speeds, you're the first person I've seen point out the bugs as well. I am not regretting my decision !

Oh boy! Am I glad I saw this video Jeff, you just saved me 30$. Just like you pointed out, they once again have created a map, thrown a bunce of European stuff into it and called it American, just like they did with the Canadian map Oakville subdivision for TSW. Wonder what they are doing with the Rush hour DLCs planned for this summer? There are only a little month left of summer, gues they would properly just go for a fall release.

I downloaded the mod. It does work got rid of that awful traffic and even has minor work on skin and different horn. Hope that helps and definitely like watching all ur video. Keep up the good work.

7:11 I was. And as an Almirola fan I very much enjoyed the race.

You can move the train in Notch 1 to start. After you release the breaks it takes a minute or two for the entire train to release its breaks especially if your 40 plus cars.

In this game does it have the EOT device where you can see the pressure at the end of your train ?

This game has so much potential. And for a route with maybe 6 unique locomotives, higher quality / polish and lots to do , I'd be happy to pay a higher price. It's really unfortunate. I've been playing Open Rails, it's free and miles better, other than old school graphics. It's to bad there isnt another studio with ACTUAL QUALITY and railway knowledge / listens to community and fixes issues quickly

I got the base game a few days ago for around 30% off and I've noticed a bunch of small things that incredibly take away from the immersion of the game. To add to this, the tutorials in this game are useless. They don't teach anything about the different types of brakes and when to use them, what cutting in and out means, how to get DPUs working (I just did Fully Fueled on the CSX line and driving 10mph up a grade for two hours was painful). Not to mention the first several missions are so tedious - constant shunting cars to the point where you get sick, and they only have three types of wagons to top it off. Buggy couplers, bell turns on with the horn. Thank you for this video Jeff, definitely not getting this pointless DLC.

Question Jeff, would you ever consider Run 8 train sim? I’ve heard very good things about it. It’s a pricey investment $50.00 to get it and it increases from there depending on what you want. But if you are looking for realistic that would be the product to look at to my knowledge.

That noise it sounds like jet aircraft not traffic. And having that runway along the route, leads me to believe it is. You don't hear traffic when you're looking at the cars go by, but just an occasional roar overhead? Thoughts? Oh happy belated birthday Jeff my birthday is also July 11th!

Hey Jeff, if you get off the train and walk up to those blank signs it adds texture to them. It’s just a fun little train sim world feature. For example one of them shows a route map and a picture of a loco, Hope this helps.

Those are shipping containers on three wheel chassis. There are a couple of these parked in the yard of the Logistics company I work for.

This game is going to be free on Epic Games next Thursday.

I downloaded this route last night and the AC4400CW is super buggy. I put some cars in a siding, and coupled back up to my train and my brakes wouldn't release at all. Turned out they went back to cut-out and took me a good 15 minutes struggling back and forth, when the entire train wouldn't budge at all.

The derail reminded me of a Colonel Failure video 😂

Steve O’donnell said that the flag stand had called in it was misting so the tower called the pace car and by the time they did it was pouring in turn 1 and they were about to call the yellow when kyle wrecked. They called the race early because partly the tower has tinted glass which made their visibility worse than it was for the drivers and they also stated it would have been sooner if there was a bunch of cautions

if you want to make it easier when you depart release the Auto and keep the IND Brake at full then go to Notch 3 or 4 and slowly release the IND brake

My personal take on any of the TSW/TSW2 modules is to wait for a sale. Dovetail (in my opinion) has proven many times across many games that cash in is their primary goal with games/DLC not quality or function. I ended up refunding TSW2 because aside form a few new routes/trains it was the same as the first TSW. Either way, thanks for the video, Jeff! Good and informative as usual!

If I'm gonna be honest, objectively, the best routes are European. GWE and the Bakerloo Line are brilliant routes, and they don't reuse assets much if they don't need to. But with American routes, they basically just remake Sand Patch Grade. Hell, they're adding a new British locomotive every few weeks, but for American freight, they're reusing the same 3 locomotives. They can't even be bothered to make a GP50 or a GP30 for a change!

I bought it the day it came out expecting it to be great! Unfortunately, I didnt have an all so satisfying experience either. I was dissapointed that they didnt change the horn because it is the same as the CSX Sand Patch Grade route also in TSW2. I was also disappointed that for the first 15 to 20 miles or so between Thompson and Moab, there really isnt all that much to see! I get that its the desert and all, but still dont you think they should have at least some little towns?

@@jfavignano Indeed. At this point i feel like TS 2021 or any other Trainsim that Dovetail has made thats not Train Sim World is better. There are wayy more route and locomotive options, and they overall seem better than the DLCs in TSW.

It may not be much, but, that's how the Denver and Rio Grande Western built the branch.

Nothing like watching this my youngest who is obsessed with trains.

I was having the same problem. What i did after about the third try was instead of going straight to the DPU's, I went back to the original locomotive, sat back in the engineers seat, released the brakes and let the train roll forward to make sure the cars separated. After that I stop the train, shut down that locomotive, then went to the Dpu's and was able to complete the scenario. I hope this helps.

The Cane Creek Sub adds new cargo for the sim. Potash. While UP operates this former Rio Grande branch line once a week commonly known as the Potash Local, this adds the ability to transport potash on other routes such as Sand Patch since potash is often a commodity on mixed (manifest, junk, the list goes on on names) trains. Also, the road power is always a toss-up. You might get a GP40M-2, SD40-2, or whatever. If you like traveling in Utah on a branch line with one major commodity, I'd recommend it.

I'd also recommend going out and chasing the local if you have time. It's not exactly a fast operation like a hot Z train of domestic and foreign shipping containers, but, it is something unique.

Also, next time use your dynamic brake, you push the throttle back, uses the trains' generator to slow the train down

I think so, I completed all the routes and timetables in it. Wasnt much but was fun.

18:24 that’s apart of some minigame where you replace maps and other stuff.

Had 4 engines going up a 1.7% grade and full throttle could only do 15mph. Also had to get a run up to the climb at full throttle.

The main game was full of bugs. Had to restart the levels so many times. I'm not buying any DLCs in future if that's how they are treating us. Also the floating rocks reminded me of Rey scene (from Star Wars).

I like a lot of simulators never once considered a train simulator you can only go one way lol but it’s on game pass so I’ll try
