Train Sim World 2 - Route Learning: Southeastern High Speed // Faversham to St Pancras (4K/60fps)

Ойындар

Welcome to the next episode of the route learning series! This episode is a direct remake of one of my earlier videos recorded in TS, and hopefully of a vastly improved quality!
In this episode, we take a Southeastern Class 395 between Faversham and London St. Pancras International, calling at Sittingbourne, Rainham, Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester, Strood, Gravesend, Ebbsfleet International, Stratford International, and London St. Pancras International.
This is also my first ever episode recorded in 4K @ 60fps. I hope it helps to improve overall video quality!

    Notes for this video: 1. There is a slight error with the video rendering process when I announce the stations near the start of the video - after 3 attempts to fix it (followed by a 4.5 hour render each time), this is the best I can do for now. The rest of the video seems to be unaffected. 2. The distance between Strood and Gravesend is 7 miles and 16 chains - I forgot to caption this in, and it wasn't written in my notes for the commentary! 3. I gave the incorrect headcode for the service I drove in this video. I was correct in saying this is the 07:30 service, but the headcode is 1F15, not 1F17 as I said in the video.

    You make comments about lag in Train Simulator. Please put in the new -fastload flag before doing further Train Simulator videos. I took this for a spin on Cajon Pass, one of the original and also one of the least optimized routes I came across early in my play. Sadly, a major delay spike entering San Bernadrino still exists, but I can tell you that the quality of the gameplay was otherwise virtually flawless. I found very little to complain about. Now if they will just fix those lag spots...

    Good luck getting hold of the 3080! I would have gone for the 3080, but the 3070 is considerably easier to get hold of. Your old PC is very similar to mine - from September 2015 until this episode, all my videos were recorded on an i7 4790k with a GTX 980. And your new PC will be similar to mine - including the same processor. 32gb RAM might be beneficial for the future, but for TS and TSW, along with most other games, 16 is more than enough. :) TSW shows a huge improvement in the frame rate, and of course you can play in much higher resolutions. TS on the other hand? Not so much. The fps improvements in TS are very modest indeed.

    Just want to point out, the beeping that you heard when you've put the reverser to neutral during set-up was in fact not the DSD, given the beeping, it is the KVB, the French classic signalling system only available in some areas (including St Pancras Intl.) Videos on other simulations would be really nice, Zusi especially since it would be even more of a challenge for you to get to near perfection, and being much closer to realism than TS/TSW, which in itself is promising to watch. TramSim, I own it, I was desperate for a tram simulation, and yes, it's really good, no regrets. Might want to watch for SimRail coming somewhen this year, tho brush up on your Polish. :D

    Great video! I love this route in Train Simulator 2020. I was wondering, would you be willing to do a video telling us how it is that you learn these routes? Are you using materials from the train company, certain maps, websites, etc or do you just use trial and error in making these?

  • @PTGRail

    @PTGRail

    3 жыл бұрын

    In terms of learning these routes - I firstly drive the journey with the HUD turned on. I drive along the route, looking out for landmarks and their distances to speed changes or stops. I make notes of these so I know what to look out for. I then drive the journey a second time, this time following the notes with the HUD switched off - this allows me to make sure the notes are accurate and I can actually follow them, and edit them where necessary. It's also on this second run where I record external shots of the train departing from stations or the train passing at speed. Finally, I do the third run where I record the journey. The information in the captions comes from a UK railway track atlas I got so I could add more detail to the videos. :)

    I love the grafics in TSW 2. 4k might not be required in order to produce a youtube video. What I do not like in TSW 2 is the LOD distance. Mayve you can scale these up now that you are a happy RTX 3070 owner. Tweak the engine.ini in the save game folder (saved/config/windowsnoEditor) Add these lines at the bottom [SystemSettings] r.ViewDistanceScale=5 r.Color.Mid=0.4 foliage.LODDistanceScale=3 Or even higher numbers for your RTX 3070! The color makes it a bit darker. So not required. BTW the 1F17 time table route is only a 6 car unit on my computer ... I found the 7:30 service is 1F15 and has 12 cars.

    @@PTGRail theres loads but they only make the train sim so accurate so the way the brakes work is just a bit off. For example we generally don’t use more than 40 percent braking - 70 percent is a fairly strong application usually used on a downhill gradient with a heavy load.

    @@PTGRail also I haven’t watched it all but a 12 car formation would struggle to reach 90 mph even downhill between Faversham and Sittingbourne. The current limits are severe on the 3rd rail for a 12 car 395 which make them very sluggish.

    @Solomon Clarke a 12 car 395 is a lot worse than a single unit 6 car 395. The 6 car 395 is okay up to 50 mph.

    The most unrealistic thing about this simulation is the fact that there are no fatties to be seen on any of the platforms... this is the UK right?...:P

    Frustrating game! I just dl the south eastern hi speed...I've done everything the tutorial says but nothing is happening. Feels like a bug, throttle is on, closed the doors(not part of tutorial) now it's green up ahead but nothing is happening. Can't move power lever/get up etc...can press some buttons in the cab though. Edit: closed the doors manually BEFORE moving throttle and trian moves...nowhere in the tute does it say to press door button. Watching PC tutorial as soon as you sit in the driver's seat doors sound to close.
