Train Drivers View
This is the drivers view from the cab on a London Underground train. This is not a deep level tube line but the subsurface Circle line. The stations being Kings Cross, Farringdon, Barbican, Moorgate, Liverpool street.

Superb, my five year old is autistic, can't speak but has a fixation with trains and especially tunnels. watch this about 15 times a session and he goes into overdrive, complete euphoria, flapping his hands and jumping up and down. Don't remove this from KZread. Essential viewing!!!
ive bn away from london for some months now, really miss it and videos like this help me keep my memories alive ....thanx mate. LOVE IT...!
that is officially the kewlest train video ever!!!!!! thanks fo posting.
Awesome to see this from the conductor's point of view! Thanks!
That's a lot of people at 7:20 ! A lot of red lights for the driver as well. Great video!
Thanks, it's good to get a different perspective; to see from a different angle.
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Thanks.
This is one of my most favorite youtube video. Thanks for uploading.I always love riding at the front of the training.
This is great, I feel like I am back in London using the Underground. The sounds and signaling are great. Thanks for the tourist feeling.
Great video of clockwise Circle Line tram!
Excellent shot
Deep level trains are much funky, get to go really fast! It's interesting what a driver's view of...well driving is like, very interesting. I'm always intrigued how they manage to stop at the right time so that they don't overshoot the platform. And it looks so frigging dark in those tunnels...mucho scary when there's another train coming the opposite way.
Fascinating video, thanks very much for sharing it.
Excellent vid. Nice to see such a good view of the Widened Lines section where Thameslink runs.
That's cool ... always wondered what it was like up there in the drivers seat!!!
Great video. Thank you for NOT adding music.
Watching this in 2016 and realising how much all that has changed since!

The S Stock replaced all the other Stocks. A,C and D.
Interesting to see no catenary but of course replaced by the 3rd rail.Probably used cut and cover style construction...great posting.
@howardkevinm Its actually the Americans who saw the Brits and decided to drive on the right side of the road.
not much underground on this section..great to see the retaining walls and construction methods of the 1860s!
nice one. i'd often wondered what the driver's view was like.
I found it strangely relaxing. With the gentle hum, warm cab, and smooth movement of the train, isn't keeping focussed - even awake - a problem?
I love the visual beauty of this video. It is so relaxing. Thank you! I wish one could buy stuff like this in DVDs with commercial quality at the store. Not the usual over edited Rail Road DVDs. But long lasting shots from a point of view. Can I? Tell me, please, if anybody knows. (Please excuse my english.)
The first video I watched since I start watching in 2006
im definately saving this to my favorites :)
This is like a window to a very different world which existed only a short time ago...
"is this circle or hammersmith & city?" The video description says Circle. I found it interesting that so many platforms are curved. On the SF BART, all platforms are straight, so that you don't have to "mind the gap" quite as much.
circel line nice vue mate good vidio
That was cool. Cheers
thats an intresting view - good work 5*
LU trains dont use AWS or TPWS, only mainline train does. When we leave the first station (Kings Cross), you can see the abandoned platform of the original Kings Cross station (with emergency lighting equipments on it.)
Nice one! Thanks for sharing this with us. Ignore the silly comments.
@robertgift the electricity powering the trains doesn't come from the lines above the trains what normally happens. But because its 'underground' the electricity is powered through the rails on the tracks instead, hence the reason why you see cables and wires on the side of the tunnels
ah, the wonderful dreaded circle line, slowest and has the longest waits! :p
all the years I've travelled this route, finally I get a cab view! shame about all those red signals, as you should have been able to go faster - especially between KX and Faringdon (OK, not your fault, just how it goes sometimes)
Excellent video...Only 2 signals on red....Am I right in saying that the circle line trains have to lose up to 9 mins due to the circuit taking less and the way in interacts with other lines?
just so you know, the underground was very first opened on the 10 of jan 1863, witch makes it alot more that 103 years old, and it was called the metropolitan railway, and it consisted of 7 stations, just so you know lol
Незабываемое впечатление! Даже если смотришь через монитор.
cool vid im a volentier teacher of the history of the underground it so interesting, my grandfather left me diary of a worker that was apart of the buiding of the underground when it first was built and it turns out that it is my grandfathers diary from a few generations ago did you know that some of the gaps where you see daylight, was originaly because the first trains was steam and they used to store the smoke in the steam engins and they would use some of those gaps to vent the toxic smoke
Kings Cross has some of the deepest platforms yes (although Hamstead holds the title of being the very deepest on the whole system) namely the piccadilly and northern are pretty deep on kings cross but the circle, hammersmith and metropolitan line platform is just below the surface, and not very deep at all.
that is so cool!
You know, I never realised it was so scary when going into the tunnel like that. I just take it for granted.
Good stuff, I can't see what all the fuss is about. You can clearly see the driver is in full control of the train at all times and only uses the video camera when he's stopped at a red light. Maybe London Underground should put cameras on all tube trains and use them as a type of black box?
I see there are quite a few London Underground videos like this, but it is quite hard to find a mainline train driver who has done the same thing. London Underground train drivers must just be cooler!
Love trains too.
Enjoyed the ride!!!

Must be interesting to actualy drive one of those. I wouldn't mind it one bit, my problem would be determining when to slow down so I don't miss the platform due to my lack of depth perception and having only one eye for vision. Also, just curious, is it the camera's lens thats smudgy or is it the windshield? (I'm not knocking anything, just asking).
in this part of london (in the vid) the speed limit is like 30-40mph but some trains can go up to around 70mph (but they cant, cause of speed limits)
Great Video. The only issue is that on the description it says that Kings Cross is the first station. Can you please change this to Kings Cross St. Pancras, because that is the station's more accurate name.
I'm almost living the dream!! :D
brilliant
Pfft, don't listen to them mate I think you guys do an excellent job. I really miss the London underground and when I compare it to Aucklands shambles (especially the western line at 65% on time) I cringe. I can't wait to come home.
Thanks, very interesting! It is really so dark in tunnels that nothing is seen?
Interesting! What rails to we see at 7:22? How do trains get power when switching tracks? Thank you.
i loved going on the underground since i was a little girl
Nice video, i lived in london and have been away for 20 years now. Seeing the scenery brought me back the memory of daily sights i used to have. Thanks for posting.
@MrFaulconbridge The headlights are on, its just the fact that those tunnels are pitch black!
weirdly this is faciniting
@howardkevinm Because there vehicles have steering on the right hand side I guess.
i'd really like to see the tunels filmed in infrared.
It's not for nothing the London Underground is the oldest, biggest and most soulful in the world. Subsurface Circle or Metropolitan line?
Nice to have a cab ride. Is it still possible today?
@testament1uk you can download it using Vdownloader so its safe.
Do u play World of subways 3 or any other train sim
@testament1uk I think that's probably one of the strangely moving comments I've ever read on a KZread video! More power to you and your son :)
I took this route many times
@ 0:40 just as you come out of the tunnel there apperars to be an abonanded staton can u tell me what is was called?
@testament1uk Thanks.Yes please do not remove.
london underground stops are usually really close together, so theres no need to go fast
did u pay transport for london filming fees or did u film without permission ?
Thanks. But which station was the first in this clip?
Gloucaster Road ? South Kensington ? Sloan Square ? Bayswater ? Paddington Station ?
Cool video! ~Ra'akone
You're wrong there actually, the Central and Victoria are also ATO athough there are drivers in the cabs incase of an emergency. Soon the Jubillee will also be ATO and the Northern and Piccadilly lines aswell I think.
@testament1uk Did you know you could by the this on dvd?
I so want to drive either the underground or the overground from dorking to waterloo
The way to Fabric club ! :)
@Kevin Howard 1. Because the driver seat is on the right hand side of the vehicles 2. Cause british government wanted to ever since roads were made
haha lol, love way austrailans talk :)
The London underground isn't anywhere near as vicious as NY's subway system but its usually faster then what this video is portraying
how funny - on the first stop if i went that much past the barrier i would have screwed up and got a not all cars stopped on the platform sign (WoS 3)
AHHH.. ok when did they shut The old one down?
I would get nightmares. o-o
would you be in trouble if your bosses found in in the cab with video recording equipment?
Yeah!
Kings Cross St Pancras Eastbound or clockwise which ever way u look at it. Lines share the same track hmmmm....there is a centre road into a bay platform shut from public there as u enter eastbound
Which line was it?
Ah... yes I remember English mass transit... How many hours late was this particular train?
How?
Why did I watch this?
cool
I thought the Tube Trains were 'driverless' - like the Vancouver "Sky Train"
With the new trains in the NYC transit we won't be able to enjoy the view from the first car. You can look out but the view is somewhat blurred. The motoman's compartment has been enlarged.
Is it my imagination or are you a slower driver than most? Tube trains I've seen appear to come charging into stations at about 40 mph.
WOw! The station are more clean than NYC
Is it difficult?
why dont drivers have there headlights on when in the tunnels? it would be nice to see whats iin front of you even if it is just track and black walls.
I'm going to be on the Underground Tomorrow
I dont know why it seems so slow, the underground is quite fast certainly much faster than in this video
