TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Ål - Bergen with summer vibe, sunset & side views
Beautiful day in June with good summer vibes. This video include speed information and lots of side views. All of this in 4K UltraHD!
With the sun still up at arrival in Bergen at 10:19pm, one can say that the summer in Norway is the best time of the year!
This is more or less a continuation of "Train to Bergen diverted over the Gjøvik line" ( • TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: T... ), but done some weeks later. Those two videos completes the journey from Oslo to bergen.
Enjoy!

Recently I got an 85 inch Sony 4K tv and these videos have become so addictingly pleasurable to watch on a big TV screen. I play these videos and do stuff around my home and doing dishes has never been so meditatively calm.
Love the side views !!
This is honestly the best train ride video I ever seen in my life !

This episode is the best of all. Your country explodes in green in summer!!!! Very beautiful. Thank you
I love all your videos, I especially love the ones like this where you have a view out the side it gives such a better understanding of the surrounding country. This is by far my favorite!
I agree with Serena's comment: this is truly your best video yet, and the effort you've put into editing has really paid off. How do you drive through such incredible scenery and not get distracted by it?
Your videos are great specially for those who can't afford to come to Norway. They can easily view the beauty of the Norway. Thank you for showing us this beautiful scene Thank you
i love it when you have the second camera out to the side it shows so much more of your beautiful country.

Very beautiful ride. I have watched some winter cabrides now and I was looking for a summer ride Ål-Bergen. I found this one. Nice sideview: seeing the EL18 locomotive in the sides of the carriages of the other train. There are plenty of nice and beautiful sideviews during this trip. I mention here: Finse and surroundings; the setting sun in the mountains and when arriving in Bergen. Before that, there are beautiful shots of Sørfjorden between Stanghelle and Trengereid. Also: nice downward view at 1h20m30s: the Flåmsbana. These are just a few of the wonderful ride. Now, I have to find a summer or autumn ride in the opposite direction. You are privileged, to ride in such a beautiful part of your country. But there can also be "nightmare conditions'. I look forward to watch more videos of your working area. 🙂🙂😉 stay safe and sound, RCG!!
From about 20:50 on (clock time, not video time), the late light bouncing off the mountains and flooding across the land is simply exquisite. And so cool to have the setting sun shining through the high Bergen station window as you arrived. Kind of "Stonehenge-y". :D
Been a few times to Hamar and Gjovik it is really a beautiful place on earth, Norway has so much more to offer then Sweden and the Norwegian people are always so kind. So fun to sit and watch your channel you had me spell bound for 12hrs in a row lol :)
The info you provided, plus excellent side views, and Great Editing makes this episode one of HGC's Best! Thank you so much!

Beautiful scenery, but very hostile-looking. Nice side views too. I think this is the first time I've seen the trip 'over the top' past Finse in the summertime.
Wow - I just realized what I was seeing at 52:30 on the side view. The ice had not completely melted yet in those waters. And by the time you got to Finse...well, still winter. :D Then right back to summer on the other side of the mountain. Microclimates are so fascinating.

I'll be on the Oslo to Finse train on the 11th at 6:30am and then continuing to Bergen on the next train. It would be sooo cool to be on your train!
Just came back from a holiday trip where I stayed near Geilo with a view of this exact line (just before Geilo). Nice to see this. Edit: 16:00 is where you exactly pass the house that is straight across from where I stayed!

Why is it whenever I watch your vlogs Monty Pythons dead parrot sketch irresistibly come to mind ? Love the side views on this vlog by the way it’s like being a passenger on your train.

As always an absolutely superb video! I do very much like the beautiful side views. However, at Hol (10 55 into the video) I wish you had changed to the head-on view when the train from Bergen approached. Very kind regards
Did you know, from the angle of the sun making your silhouette looks like batman? :)
At 30:16 a short piece of rails can be noticed at the left side of the line. This is all that remains from a memorial held there at the place where "East" and "West" met 100 years ago when the line was originally connected.

Nice summer sunny afternoon trip! There are some eastbound trains to meet us @: 10:50 Hol (El18 with yellow passenger train in the small window); 40:12 Haugastol (passing Et57 Unit nonstop); 51:50 Tunga (freight with El ??); 2:02:00 Voss (freight with El14) 2157; 2:59:40 Arna (Et57 Unit). p. s.: Good Video, but for me the sideviews were a little too many & some of them little too long.
The EL18 seem like absolute rock solid machines. For a 20 year old loco that must get worked absolutely to death it still seems extremely quiet and reliable. especially in the harsh winter conditions you have there. Do you have many faults these days or do they just keep going and going.
There was a snow storm at Finse a couple of days ago. I would guess that is rare for July.

@@RailCowGirl Indeed! Well, now I do remember that we did have some warm days in June, but we are not really used to saying "goodbye winter" until later in June/July. And snow still in July is not that exceptional. (I have been at Ustaoset regularly since 1945, am due back again in August, and I have experienced all sorts of weather.) I really do love your videos !
I can see the diamond shaped signs that indicate where you are supposed to sound the horn. What I haven't figured out is why, at any point, why the horn needs to be sounded. There doesn't seem to be any consistent reason like approaching a road crossing, station, bridge or tunnel.
1:20:30 There should be a train on Flåmsbana, then it would be more perfect.
1:20:30 short but nice view of the Flam Line

Det er mange år siden det ble slutt på det. Det ble trangt med togsett etter brannen på Hallingskeid, og togsettene var ikke bygget for vinterene på høyfjellet.
At 58.02, in Finse, especially - that's a lot of snow cover! Yet here it is June. Does this area ever melt off, maybe by August?

According to: [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergen_Line], "...passenger trains were since the late 1980s rerouted via Drammen instead of via Roa." Are the KM markers west of Hønefoss measured to Oslo via Drammen or Roa?

Any idea What the yellow triangles with numbers in them some times 5 up to 10 so far have seen? Can't make any sense of them.
@RailCowGirl
2 жыл бұрын
They’re speed signs. Pointing up = increased line speed Pointing down = warning of reduced line speed ahead (this is followed with a small triangle pointing down, indicating where the speed limit must be enforced) Numbers: 9 = 90km/h 10 = 100 13 = 130 16 = 160

Yes. the signal here is the warning about reduced line speed ahead. You can see the limit marking signal on the left side just before the curve to the right. It usually is placed on the back side of the increased line speed signal for the opposite direction. :9
