Train day! - DJI Osmo Pocket 3 | Cinematic grading!
I've had the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for a few months now and I've been working with the footage to develop a "look" to help soften it up and produce a nice "high-end" feel. What do you think?
This was shot in Goathland, North Yorkshire on a family trip, taking our little nephew Felix out to see some steam trains!!
All shot in D-Log M - at 50fps, in 4K with Freewell magnetic NDs.
You've got to nail a few things in camera, keep 180 degree shutter, protect your highlights, don't clip them, it's better to slightly underexpose your shadows to preserve the highlights - as clipped highlights tends to give the game away that you're working with a smaller sensor with limited dynamic range. Get it right and you can pull some STUNNING images from this camera.
I'm considering selling this look as a cheap Resolve powergrade and possibly a LUT, let me know if there's any interest.

So I've already started using it to record some of my pieces to camera for my KZread vids - I'm trying to get it looking as close to my LUMIX S5 iiX as I can. I also want to use it for BTS and just as a general - all purpose - take anywhere camera for trips and holidays!

@@EdProsser amazing, yeah I've been eyeing this as a solid compact solution for BTS for KZread videos. not sure if I'll like the gimbal / solo focal length but the ease of being portable seems so nice

@@thomas.kovacik it's definitely not perfect but the form factor does mean you can just plonk it down anywhere, quickly adjust the shot and chat to a camera - you can even set it to follow you...
I’ll buy your LUT if you make them

Yeah I'd make it affordable, it'd most likely be a Resolve power grade + LUT. As it involves a bit of image processing that can't be stored in a LUT

@@EdProsser I just learned about powergrades, and you are right, plus you can modify / disable anything, to make it work for all shots.

Wow! They’ve come along way with these small sensors. Really impressed with the dynamic range, did you use ND on this?

Yes I got a little pack of tiny magnetic clip on NDs, they're an absolute faff to use but they really help you pull a nice image out of this cam!
