I'm really interested how you drive artics /road trains in your part of the World. My late husband was an artic driver (from Czech Republic, driving around Europe). When I had free time I often travelled with him and even drove a few times around car parks 😉. Your videos are really interesting. Safe travels, Gail Czech Republic ❤️.

Johnno, great video mate!!! Great to see you aren't slamming the PM into ringfeders etc, checking heights... twisting the locks on the airlines....no tug test on hooking up the lead?? Finally, why dont you wear gloves mate??? (Also, I keep calling up your mates here in Perth and asking is that you Johnno....but it hasn't been) finally, we just had a safety bulletin where the locking pin has come adrift on the landing legs swivel and the retaing pins have nearly worked their way out, which could have caused a major drama if the swivel foot had come off while driving.....might be worth a mention. Cheers mate, good on ya!!

I did the tug test after turning off the camera. Tube was getting away and so was the amount of footage I was taking. I don't like wearing gloves unless I have to. If I'm doing tarps then I do it I get blisters. One day you'll see me around Perth. I rarely have the radio on when I'm driving around town though but hopefully you'll be able to signal me somehow.

Johnno - quick question, just like in this video we quite often see trailers left ‘wherever’ obviously awaiting pickup by a driver….how common is trailer theft? What’s to stop someone just rocking up in their prime mover hooking up to a random trailer and driving off?? 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@RoadTrainAdventures

I guess most trucks could snatch up someone else's trailer but this is very rare. It's rarer than someone stealing your car.

As a UK truck driver I have noticed there is no pin to secure the fifth wheel to the trailer and no tug test to make sure the wheel is locked and the landing legs are not all the way up! To get your MC licence in Australia there's a whole bunch of things you have to remember and demonstrate in your test, though there's generally not a specific sequence as long as you do all the steps. Johnno doesn't do many of them because, like most truckies, once you know what your doing a lot of them are just a waste of time and really designed to make sure new drivers don't make mistakes. Things like visually checking the jaws, clearance checks, winding the legs up just clear of the ground before the tug test and then all the way after are examples.

AUS trailers do have not requirement to have a trailer brake button on outside of trailers like UK so its rare to find an actual trailer brake button on the outside of the trailer that I see you UK guys doing when disconnecting as step 1. Disconnecting airlines will automatically put on trailer brakes. Also we don't have pin/dog clips on the pin that i notice on uk videos.

Thanks! Hey Jonno just wanted to say how valuable your videos have been! You've taught me a few things i could be doing to better my hooking up. I am going for my MC license in a few months. It's crazy how little they teach you. My mates who have recently completed theirs have said all you do is a straight reverse. Drive a B double and the instructors never even talked about a dolly. The fact that theirs more combinations out there that use dollies than there is that do not use them ( pretty much anything besides a b double or B triple) is frightening. The company i work for runs PBS A doubles (yes i know not a road train) which i could start to learn on when i get my upgrade. You're saving lives Jonno by teaching inexperienced drivers what our insructors did not teach us! Much appreciate the VLOGS and keep em rolling mate!

I guess most trucks could snatch up someone else's trailer but this is very rare. It's rarer than someone stealing your car.
Yeah nice one John. Youre working videos are always good. Interesting what you said about that bolt on the locki g mechanism. The yanks are always going on about climbing under their trucks to check the jaws.
