Trail Ready Suspension for the Wicked Willy's Build - Trucks! S1, E17

Stacey and Mel get to work on the Wicked Willy's front & rear end. Before lifting it 6" they box in the frame to support the extra weight from the Dodge crate motor. They also install new springs and custom axles.

I have hunted, fished, and explored almost every kind of trail here in British Columbia in a variety of build-ups and vehicles for 42 years. I also mud-raced for 10 years in mild street builds to hi-performance mud-racers. One thing I learned early on in my 4whld passions was to reverse the position of the front axle spring hangers on older trucks when the lift got serious. I learned this the hard way when the front springs extended to a full drop and the shackle overcorrected on the rebound which bent the main leaf. It happened in the process of alterations to a '63 Ford 2whld to a 4whld. Once the hangers are reversed there is no issue. Arguments over this necessity, over time concerning speed and road conditions, have never stood up.

I agree, I miss that show. Grew up watching him, I also like how he’d build them, then put them through his test. N like he’d say, if I break it, I’ll fix it! Love Stacey projects!

If I was the judge of a car show I'd award more points to a car that actually gets driven than a trailer queen

THIS! This demonstrates the difference between the new shows and old favorites. It is highly scripted an almost overproduced to the point that people may call it “forced.’ As an example, look at the choreographed & scripted sequence starting about 14:15. BUT. This is such a better quality than ... others.

Why do a lot of people, and a lot that are professional automobile people call the car/company name WILLYS, like Willy’s? John Willys (pronounced WILLIS) was a key member of Willys Overland Co. Please stop calling the vehicles Willys/Willy’s!

These shows dedicate so much time to ignoring details. That frame should of been blasted and primed with a wweldable primer, then painted after.
