Tragic Details About Charlie Chaplin

Ойын-сауық

Charlie Chaplin is one of the most influential filmmakers to have ever lived, with a 75-year-career and more than 80 movies to his name. Those movies include what are widely recognized as some of the greatest films ever made, including "The Great Dictator," "Modern Times," and "City Lights."
While many people today know Chaplin's work, his face, or at least his mustache, they may not be as familiar with the real life of the man himself. Despite his success and penchant for slapstick, his life was no laughing matter -- especially after he got blacklisted from Hollywood and exiled from the United States.
If you only know him for his comedy, you may have never heard these tragic details about Charlie Chaplin.

Regardless of his faults, which we all have I admire him for making it through an awful childhood which was terribly sad. He really worked hard to make it, and I don't know anyone who doesn't love The Little Tramp. He was an absolute genius. He was actually very handsome as a young man.

KZread channels like this are sometimes the worst places to learn about a public figure. If you are interested in learning about Charlie Chaplin I highly recommend what is considered to be the best book on him, Charlie Chaplin: His Life and Art by David Robinson. Why is a book potentially better? Consider this. David Robinson took the time to fact check Chaplin's autobiography (another excellent book) and discovered that Chaplin had a remarkable memory. He found his recollections were remarkably accurate.

@@giuliabelvisi6938 In today’s standards… Yes… Charlie Chaplin was a pedophile. Back then, sexual misconduct similar to what Chaplin did was simply more clandestine and kept under wraps. However, under California state law he would’ve faced statutory rape charges for having sexual relations with a 15 year old girl. (According to court documents by Lita Grey) Chaplin had two choices. The first choice was that he MUST legally agree to marry the girl under the demands of the 15 year old girl’s family. Or face prison time, simple as that. Although the relationship he had with Lita when she was 15 was MAYBE “consensual” the act is still highly illegal because a 15 year old no matter what can not legally consent to a sexual relationship in most jurisdictions in the US. Although she was a teenager, she was still legally considered a child. There was also some hearsay in some articles that suggested that Chaplin was checking Lita out when she was as young as 12-13 years old on one of his movie sets. Which according to an article I read on Wikipedia about pedophilia, makes him a pedophile. And that's not a few small mistakes. That makes him a pervert.

@@jeanbaumgartner4052 - wow! Very interesting 😉. I used to draw tornadoes hitting a house when I was a pre teen in the earlier 80s up until I graduated high school in 1990. When my husband and I were first dating in college 1992, I told him that one day I was going to die in a tornado. At the time we lived on the Illinois - Wisconsin border. We moved in 1999 when he got a job with a TN fire dept. Fast forward to April 7, 2006…. I was hiding in our basement with my 6 & 3 year old sons when our house took a direct hit from a F4 tornado. I laid on top of my boys shielding them from flying debris. All that was left of our home was a partial basement wall, SUV, and a pile of bricks. When neighbors found us, bc my 3 yr old popped us thru a pile of bricks…. Neighbors started to dig him out and found me dead still laying on top of my 6yr old who was unconscious. Paramedics got me breathing again but at local hospital and then Vanderbilt I coded another 7x. Drs never gave up on me. I was left paralyzed from the waist down and can not walk but I am here today (even danced with my son at his wedding June 2023.) I have been able to watch my boys grow up.

Robert Downey Jr's problems were small potatos compared to Charlie Chaplin. I always admired him and I did not know he did those things to young girls and actually supported Nazi ideas. I thought he was one of those people who were accused but had nothing to do with it. Sometimes the government would go after anyone that was Germany or from a communist country when they had nothing to do with it amd escaping themselves. Like Lucy Ball and her husband for example.

And didn't mention he was not English but came from Romania. But for that times, him being also gipsy, they made the story he was born in UK. Actually Geraldine Chaplin did an interview about it and told reporters the first place she ever learned it existed, was Romania, and also Chaplin wrote in his autobiography about this. My question is....after we all know the real story and his writings and his daughter words and so on, why we still see he was born in UK? As a funfact...his birth certificate couldn't been found.

Wow, I love you for airing this unique individual but have to ask why you felt the need for the angle you chose? No mention of Russia being Americas Ally at the period or his purchasing of United Artists, a studio that revolutionised the movie industry and gave the lowly workforce a hand up and his Oscar ceremony apology from a Hollywood who shamefully deserted him allowing the AAC, Reds under the Beds Mccarthy era to occur, or his remaining family who never say a bad word of him and so on. Oh well. Best wishes 🙏
