I hate watching dudes on the blackjack table play like absolute buffoons. And 11 against a dealer 2 has a 63% chance of winning the hand and a 5% chance of pushing. Those are some of the best odds you’ll have on blackjack. To not double down is just dumb and you’re lowering your odds of walking out a winner.

That's not a tragedy, I once bet $200 and got two Aces, I put down another $200 and split them, then I got two more Aces and had to put down another $200 for each, everything I had brought and won at that table that night. I was dealt 9, 8, 9, and 7. The dealer was showing a 4, flipped to reveal an 8 making 12, drew a 3 making 15, drew another ace making 16, and drew a 5 making 21 and just like that $800 gone. THAT is a tragedy.

Dude, that really sucks. Sorry to hear that. Painful! I’ve been playing blackjack in casinos for many years, and I’ve seen stuff like that. Makes you wanna rip the dealer’s throat out! If I’d been in your situation, I’d have been too scared to split those extra aces, especially at $200 each. Wow! Sucks you only get one more card on split aces. For that reason I may have just taken a regular hit on those next two aces, especially with the dealer’s ‘four’ showing. That way I could maybe hit a third, or even a fourth time on one of those last two aces. Anything can happen when the dealer shows a small card. Again, really sorry that happened to you.

@@mariocalvo7719 the thing about Blackjack is there are hands you're dealt where you absolutely have to hit, stand, double, or split. No ifs ands or buts, it's standard practice otherwise the whole table will eat you alive. Splitting Aces is one of them, you have to do this and you're just along for the ride. For me 17s are my least favorite, because there's nothing you can do, if the dealer has 18-20 you've already lost.

I was thinking the same thing. But every casino has different rules. Blackjack is fixed. Casinos cheat so hard. You can see how they grip the shoe. They can take top card or next card and you’ll never know

He should give that money back. It wasn’t his. Even if in the moment his friend “gifted” it to him, he should still give it back. Technically he should also give his the winnings off of it, so he should give him $50. His friend took all the risk and should reap the rewards. A friend would spot a friend on a hand like that, however a good friend would also give it back and say thank you.

I worked at this casino. I really dont remember them allowing players record at the table unless they really changed the rules while i was gone

I’ve been to several casinos where they do not let people put in for you

Never let someone else double down on your game. They will want the win for that chip but you only get one card

Splitting 3's against a 2 is correct basic strategy, if you are allowed to double after a split (which is obviously the case). Do yourself a favor, and don't play any more blackjack until you have learned correct basic strategy for the game you are playing

​​ @russlehman2070 I'll double down on your comment. Absolutely correct to split 3s against 2. For the OP, the second guy had 10, not 11. But you are still correct on that, double 10 or 11 against 2. Edit to add: Why would you move to another table? The strategy used by another player does not affect your odds. Incorrect plays can help you as often as they hurt you. You, being a Karen, only remember when it hurts you. You forget when it helps. I was once at a table with a couple of college kids playing horrible strategy, hitting 13 against dealer 6, standing on 14 against dealer 10 and so on. The funny thing was, everybody at the table won a lot of money for the hour they were there.

Never do stupid things against a 2

It makes absolutely no sense to split threes when the dealer has a 2 showing.
