At 12:14 putting the traffic lights in has removed your 2 left turns so now the centre lane is a straight on instead.

Make sure you set up your pedestrian area to "deliver everything" and add a road access to the castles so their garbage can be picked up!

And change the road to ped road at first castle near the cable car and funicular so garbage and supplies get moved. Also make sure the second castle is in the same pedestrian zone for access as well, I don't think you put it in the zone unless you did it off cam.

12:08. When you added a traffic light to the off ramp, it automatically creates 3 separate lanes for traffic. So now, you have a lot of traffic still going straight which is what you were trying to avoid. You'll need to update the center lane to a left turn again after adding traffic lights. That is a default mechanism.

before that the two turning lanes where trying to merge mid turn, so they needed to be set to stay in lane

I love how whenever Biffa says he's going to make something look more realistic and then... well, makes a massive plateau and carpark. Superb! Most entertaining! New Tealand looks gorgeous in that twilight though!

When you fixed the roundabout at the beginning of the episode, you disconnected the bike lanes. Also, if you connect paths to the little pond on the top of the mountain, sims will walk across that bridge.

13:26 that middle line on the slip road goes across and not turning lift anymore

Biffa The castle areas look stunning but if you don’t add a tiny road access to both the areas it’s not gonna work and sadly nobody will pay a visit. Apart from that amazing decoration job as usual 🎉 that rock trick really caught my eye! Congrats!

You could upgrade the road up top to pedestrian and circle that around to the castle, then place a helicopter port there for the sims to get there!

the first castle you put down, change the road by the cable car lift to a ped road, so the services will actually count it in the area.

13:50 the middle lane is straight on. So traffic is coming off the motors way and forced back on .

Love the castle thingy on the mountain at the end, looks absolutely stunning 😍 With your traffic jam interchange earlier on, the overpass part was set to 1 lane left-only, so only trucks u-turning back down the highway could use it, so everything queued for a single lane!

My back aches just thinking of the medieval peasants hauling all the building materials up the sides of the mountains for the castles. Adding the Old Market street to one of the two castles (or both) might be a cool addition. Or, you could put one at the bottom and use a pedestrian path to be like the old road leading up to the castle.

2:47 check this traffic route view again for the same section of road, since introducing the timed traffic lights, traffic is coming off the highway, ignoring lights and going straight back onto the highway. Maybe the lights removed the land selectors?

Cities skylines 2 is going to be a blast. It's going to be for pc and consoles so everyone will enjoy this great series.

I spent the past few weeks marathon through the whole history of New Tealand and I finally caught up today. It’s certainly one of the most entertaining Cities Skylines series I’ve watched. Thank you Biffa!

If you are continuing with New Tealand, I would rerun all power and cable car stands in the cinematic run through you see a number of towers that are way too high and make you go up and down far too much.

Man that last pov sequence was gorgeous! I think you forgot the parking down the mountain.

At 4:30, given that the highway is already raised up on an embankment, it would make more sense to put the cross road underneath it rather than over the top! At 8:00, you could just have allowed both lanes on the off-ramp to turn left rather than making it 3 lanes, virtually no traffic is turning right so it's fine to have them sharing a lane. But when the junction across the bridge only allows one lane for straight on, that forces traffic into one lane back on the off-ramp. At 21:00, why are you putting in parking for a building that is inaccessible by road? 🤔 And rather than having roads all the way round it, it would look great if on one side the cliff went right up to the wall of the castle 🏰

that gondola ride would be a great weekend activity to do.

oh, have to cut this one, and transfer to my tv, need to see this on big screen

New Tealand is absolutely beautiful. You really outdid yourself, Biffa. It's my favourite and I'll be sad when it comes to an end, its my comfort city and to think the mods will stop being updated once CS2 comes out...i cry.

8:21 they're not using both left turn lanes because there's only 1 straight thru lane on the overpass. The other turns left.

14:30 I really feel like the minimum cycle time for timed lights really only exists to serve to hold a cycle phase if an upstream light is about to dump a bunch of traffic into the cycle that you're looking at. So they're not *quite* tied together but fall into sync by virtue of traffic flowing through several. But there's not a need to up the minimum just because you're upping the maximum, and instead one should be focusing a lot on those trigger conditions that initiate a phase/step change.

That view from the cable car was fantastic!! If anything said 'Come to New Tealand' then that did!!

The mountain top hotel looks great, but you put a wall around the park blocking the view of that beautiful city from all the pedestrians enjoying the grounds.

8:09 you need to have 2 lanes going across for the bridge to match your turn off. Forcing people back the way they came otherwise

Should make the whole mountain range a Nature Reserve, adding a hiking path along the ridge, with some camping spots and an extra stop or 2 along the way. Maybe with some Firewatch Towers too! Should've also made that path between the Heritage Hotel and the Funicular/Cable car stops a proper pedestrian path, to allow for services, etc to get in/out

Really great episode and love the look of the hotels on the PG Tips. I was just wondering if anyone can actually use them or are they just they should but cannot.

Lord chirpwick is a copy of an actual german/Bavarian castle called "neuschwanstein" ( New swan castle).

Accessing a hotel via a funicular railway actually occurs in real life. When we stayed in Lucerne we went on a funicular railway and there was a hotel at the top of the mountain

I think upgrading the road by the cable car terminus to a pedestrian street should fix the rubbish issue

The hotel is all the way on the mountain top, only accessible by cable car and funiculars. Biffa: I think it needs a bit more parking

Epic stuff. Maybe a viewing deck or two at the edge?

I love the ski lifts but I wish the cars would hang level to earth instead of hanging parallel to the cables. Looks really silly when the cables are getting higher or lower and the cars are hanging at an angle. LOL And YES....CS 2 is going to make CS og seem absolutely primitive.

The cinematics at the end are some of your best ones ever, Biffa! The rocks and bushes/trees around the mountaintops are also the best I have seen you do. So glad you gave up on using only the vanilla rocks. I think the castle and hotel are the best parts of all of New Tealand. There should be some sort of horse path or gravel road to the top of the mountain, however. Otherwise, how would they have ever built the darn things?

Puts a smile on my face to see the other series back and hopefully reach their finals. But I think it's safe to say that new tealand is reaching perfection

I'm hoping that for each city Biffa uses the Realtime mod, set for absolute maximum traffic generation and then with despawning turned off, lets the city run for a while before fixing the traffic.

`6:46 if the pedestrian path crosses over the roundabout junction, there'll be no need to have a pedestrian crossing there cross and slow up all of those fishing trucks.

You can have road access to both mountain top hotels. You just have to tunnel from the reservoir/park area, and do terraforming as needed.

Have you considered adding a helipad the the hotels to give them a touch of class and another transport system to them

I'd be curious if they have some sort of city importing feature from CS1 to CS2... I am sure it wouldn't be very good but it would be fun to see how the new engine handles the older cities.

14:20 three lanes at top of exit, the centre one goes straight through, instead of left turn? Means cars are taking the off ramp as detour around the freeway.

Biffa still does not get the hang of ropeways. The incline is irrelevant. They can be as steep as you want. Some ropeways run nearly perpendicular at some point in their journey. More important is that they run as straight as possible, as bends are not easy. In fact, if you need a bend in a ropeway, architects often add a station, where the cabins are taken off the rope, run the corner on giant wheels and are then coupled to a new rope in another direction. This is different from funiculars, which are running on rails and thus can go around corners (see the Wuppertal Schwebebahn), but are limited to about 50 degrees incline.

Those castles on the Peaks look Amazing 🤩 Since this is supposed to be in an area like New Zealand tho, I am a bit worried they might succumb catastrophically to an Earthquake in the future... But other than that, awesome. Also Biffa if you dont mind checking something... You are using "Transfer Manager CE v2.3.30" right? can you check that trucks carrying "Planed Timber" and "Paper" are working correctly delivering stuff to your warehouse? Since about 2 weeks ago, mine queue up at warehouses and mess up my traffic flow. Disable mod and everything works, put it back and it starts again. In any case, thanks for the video ! 🙂

The castle of Lord Chirpwich looks lovely, but the big hotel is too much for my taste. Fantastic job with the rocks.
