That festival is native to the Central Asian Steppes. There were 2 kinds of Huns. In India we called them Hunas. Both showed up around the same time. The Huns who lived near Mongolia invaded Europe and the Roman Empire. The Hepthalites on the other hand invaded Afghanistan and parts of the Northwest India until they were defeated by a Warrior named Yasodharman. They converted to Hinduism and Buddhism.

@@PK-se2jh The Indian Culture extended all the way to the Tarim Basin aka Xingjiang. Central Asians followed both Hinduism and Buddhism. So did the Afghans. Turks and Mughals who converted to Islam tried their best to ruin Indian Culture but they were beaten back, especially by the Rajputs, and the Marathas. They were also defeated in the South by the Vijayanagara Empire. They also lost to the Ahoms in the Northeast. Sikhs ended up defeating the Afghan invaders.

@@PK-se2jh Tocharians aka Tusharas followed Indian Culture. The paintings on the walls of the Kizil Caves depicts Indian Culture and Beliefs. Buddhism reached that area during Emperor Ashokas time. Even the Kushans who showed up from there followed Indian Culture. A percentage of People in the North got mixed with them. Their Culture got destroyed by the converted Turks. They won enough battles against the Turks but they were overwhelmed and they didn’t have the support of other Rulers. Even China didn’t help them. The Turks who destroyed their Culture invaded Afghanistan which had 3 Religions before 1000 A.D. Buddhism, Hinduism and Zoroastrianism. The Turkic Islamic invasion of India started through Afghanistan and our Hindu Kings fought them for Centuries. That’s how We retained our Native Culture, Languages, Beliefs and Traditions.

The Hungarian tribal association consisted of 10 tribes, they spoke three languages. What held them together was religion. The number of Hungarians reached half a million in 800. A third were Avar refugees, who were chased out of the Carpathian basin by the Franks and accepted by the Hungarians as a brother people. When the Hungarians were chased away by the Muslims, the Avars invited them to join them. The remaining Avar tribes and the Hungarian tribes thus became a people of one million. The Avar language became the majority. Our modern language therefore comes from the Avars. The language of the Avars is from the Pannons. The Pannones were the sister people of the Huns.

Abhinandan Banerjee, Ancient descriptions of the Huns are uniform in stressing their strange appearance from a Roman perspective. These descriptions typically caricature the Huns as monsters.Jordanes stressed that the Huns were short of stature, had tanned skin and round and shapeless heads Various writers mention that the Huns had small eyes and flat noses. They were related to the Mongols. They lived near Mongolia. The Hepthalites, Alcon Huns, and the Kidarites on the other hand were mixed breeds. Both the Huns and the Hepthalites practiced Artificial Cranial Deformation. The Nezak Huns who converted to Buddhism ruled over Eastern Afghanistan.

Apparently, there is very little Hun DNA in the Hungarian population. Apparently they did conquer and rule over it for a short period but were too few to leave much of a genetic trace , nor is the language from them (Hungarian is among the small group of Uralic languages, such as Finnish). Perhaps the main heritage they left behind them is these games, martial arts and horsemanship.
