» THE FOOD
1. DAL BAATI
Dal baati is a traditional food of the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan, comprising dal (lentils) and baati (hard wheat rolls).
🇮🇳MAKE DAL BAATI: To make the dal, begin by soaking 5 different types of lentils in ghee and water. In a separate pot, mix ghee, salt, turmeric, onion, red chilli powder, green chillies, dry mango powder, garlic, coriander powder, ginger and coriander leaves, adding lemon at the end. Add the boiled dal and cook.
To make the baati, combine wheat flour, salt and water and knead into tennis ball-sized dough balls. Bake the dough over burned cow dung (or a well-heated traditional oven, if burned cow dung isn’t readily available). Once the baati becomes golden brown in color, grease it with ghee and serve with dal.

🥒ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. People either enjoyed my undeniable charm or enjoyed watching me eat things like coconut worms, and thus Best Ever Food Review Show came to be.
I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer. If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.
Don’t forget to subscribe to Best Ever Food Review Show, so we can connect through food and travel and become Bestys!
P.S. I hate cucumber.

@@forrealforreal8723 I'm guessing that you mean the kajal- the eye make-up thing (I haven't watched the entire vid yet). Commonly it's believed to keep bad/evil vibes away from people, especially children- sort of like a protection charm. I'm not from Rajasthan, so I can't say for sure what it means for them specifically. You'll find small or big black dots drawn from kajal on forehead/temple of babies by their mothers in India. Some people put kajal on their child's eyes because they believe that kajal makes the eyes more beautiful and expressive when they grow up (my mum once told me that). Like I said, that's only my interpretation. It may hold different meaning for different places here in India. Hope this helped! 😊

The vishnoi community is probably the world's first environmentalist community. They believe that any form of life even trees and plants should not be harmed if there is an alternative. That's the reason instead of using fire wood they use cow dung for fuel. They keep sheep but only for their milk and wool. I have heard that they used to hug trees and ask the wood cutters to kill them first before letting them to cut the trees. Environmentalists are all over the world but probably no environmentalist gives up their life for their cause.

@@clifforddang5947 lol. Those people are out there though. A " joke went over my head ". It wasn't even a joke. Just a comment that most took as a joke. I had to delete my comment cause i had broken people calling me stupid, a moron, etc. I laughed at them at first but it got the point where I'm just disappointed. Were so lost as a people. The internet and social media is stripping us of our humanity. I watched two wish death upon each other over the spelling of the word color. And they both were right! Its color or colour depending on where you're from. I don't entertain that nonsense. I usually tell the mean people that " love you have a nice day " and they just think I'm sarcastic and get even more mad. Poor people who have to take our their anger and frustrations on others. I pray for them, because that's a sad life. Thanks for making me laugh. You got me too because at first I thought. " here we go again ".

FYI (to everyone who watches that video): 1) Almost 90% of Indians don't cook with cowdung. 2) people who do cook with cowdung, clean it as shown. 3) There are also other methods of cooking these 'Dough Balls', so please do try it whenever possible, as this may scare/ scar many people. This is a delicious dish. 4) Cheers to Sonny for not disrespecting this method... And for people who still can't digest the cowdung fact, remember there are people who drink/consume civet coffee (coffee beans passed through a particular species of cat). Peace.
