    Having moved from a bow with the incorrect draw length to thus bow was night and day. Great quality bow. Recommend for all archers of varying skill levels.

    Do you mean bow with incorrect draw length?. Not the arrow length in accordance with your personal draw?

    cool to see a fellow trad archer giving them compound archers a real run for their money. I made $100 off a trick shot with the good old longbow haha. It would be cool to see you post a new bow making video. apparently you can split down a small tree trunk and make one. great stuff Dave.

    Adjusting brace height will change your nock height relative to the arrow shelf. Always do brace height first.

  • @patricksmith6776

    @patricksmith6776

    5 жыл бұрын

    Okay, the guy at the pro-shop told me adjusting the brace height doesn't effect your nock position because it's applying equal tension to both limbs as you add or remove twists to your string. My bow has no tiller so maybe that's why I was told this? I did adjust the brace height on my bow and confirm my nock point position both before and after so I know it to be accurate to my set up.

  • @ubermenschbilly9001

    @ubermenschbilly9001

    5 жыл бұрын

    Patrick Smith Imagine your nock is positioned at the top end of the string. As you adding twists, your string gets shorter which will bring your nock lower. If you reposition the nock closer to the center of the string, the amount of change in nock height will decrease proportionally. But, unless the nock is positioned right at the center of the string, it will get lower however small that amount maybe. However, since proper nock position is very close to the center of the string, for majority of the case, that change in nock height is negligible.

    @@ubermenschbilly9001 That's how I had imagined it prior to speaking to the tech at the shop. The way he explained it is as the string shortens the limbs are changing position which changes your brace height, however if tension is equal to both limbs the center of your string stays static on the vertical plane as you hold the bow. I'm new to tuning these things and just going on what I can pick up through videos, discussions with techs and forums. So definitely not trying to argue I'm just wondering because the measurements I took confirmed what I was told by the tech but I didn't know if bow tiller may change that.

    @@patricksmith6776 It makes sense that the nock height would not change if the string was twisted equally top and bottom. Even so common sense tells me brace height can change your desired nock height

    Getting the perfect Nock point is the hardest thing about tuning any bow. on some bows, it's never perfect. you can watch the arrow flight and tell.

    Like you said the measurement you gave depends on the nock size and arrow shaft diameter, so why is everybody giving some distance like that. I want to know simply how far up should an arrow be! 7/16 seems very little to me, maybe you have thin nocks and arrows.

    nah i can feel it easy on 15 yards. i had one cheap knocking point on a cheap bow that i could move with some pressure with my hands. Sometimes i shot it and it felt like the arrow was getting a touch at the shelf just slightly. i moved the nock maybe 1mm further down and it was perfect

    Wouldn't the first thing you would do before you set the knock height is to make sure the brace height is set correctly? Lets say your brace height is 6 inch and you waited till after you set your knock height to check your brace height like you show in the video , wouldn't the knock height be in a different place once you twisted the string to move it to 7 inches ? I would tell people to first set the brace height first thing and then set the knock your video is showing the opposite and I think its going to cause a lot of people to have there knock height in the wrong place once the brace height is changed .
