    This is a new video. I like to see Anton Kreil again talking to trading legendary persons. It is wonderful to learn from their experience. Obviously, the price of money is going up, which would affect many aspects of finance. Inflation is going to be higher, though it has stayed low for many years. Oil price is unable to stay low, as Iran is under sanction again. Food shortage is going happen, as a result of the climate change. With all the factors compounding together, which we may not have thought before, inflation is going to be higher and the interest rates can't forever stay low. The era of zero interest rate is gone, but this good for the bond market and the welfare of retirement funds. Retirees have suffered for a long time because of very little income from their retirement fund. The unfair things cannot last. Traders and investors cannot ignore the above.

  • @GetYoJonesOn

    @GetYoJonesOn

    Daniel Wong, you read too much Bloomberg. Inflation higher? Better than deflation. Oil higher? Well, we’re not really making Dino oil any more. Maybe biodiesel. Renewables market will improve with time. Retirees broke? Should maybe invest in the market. I feel blessed to be born now versus 100 years ago. I don’t get this doom and gloom your spitting, nor the “I’m helpless” narrative.

    I've always seen the bond and equity markets as competitors for the same customer. To attract customers, an equity has to yield more than a bond due to the risk involved. Bonds are safer, but don't offer much in terms of appreciation. When interest rates rise the yield on stocks has to rise as well...which gets tougher as rates go higher. Once the yield advantage falls in favor of bonds, investors start moving out of stocks and into bonds. 3% on the 10 year US Treasury seems to be the magic number...and we're getting close to that now. I'm interested to know if my thoughts are accurate.

    Ah yes, I traded a lot of ABB bonds in the early 2000's at an IB prop desk in London (and a lot of other rising stars / fallen angels). All cash and you could even play between the different currencies they had issued as there were both EUR and pre-EUR legacy bonds around. I'm guessing I probably know a lot of the same traders as this guy.

    Bear Stearns was so badly run-it was an absolute car crash of poor risk management and one of the main bad actors in the 2008 crisis. They took investors' cash and leveraged it 35-1. I wouldn't be so proud of working there; they were glorified gamblers. Watching this in 2024, though, he was right about being at the end of an interest rate cycle in 2018.
