I also learned the hard way to not use the loader bucket while using a rear implement, especially while working right next to things you care about. Fence, foundation, siding... I'm a slow learner 🤪

Why my equipment is wide. Just need to see where I'm going. Almost drove in a hole 1 time. Though, here recently my 12ft disc still took out 2 T-posts and shredded the barb wire fence i just spent 3 days repairing after snagging a dirt mound and a tree stump pushing it sideways in a 13ft wide area. 🙄 top it all off, it was supposed to be 1 post. The drag behind prevented me from backing up the wire from lifting the thing up. Figured 2 posts is better then messing up the tractor or getting more tangled. I now leave the bucket off and if i do have anything on, its the pallet forks... especially mowing the ditch infront of my house leaning about 30-40 degrees

I've owned a Harley Rake (brand) for about 12 years. Once you learn how to set it up for different projects, you can even do delicate tasks like large areas of ground for grass seed. Setup the top link so the implement in vertical instead of being tilted slightly forward, lower the gauge wheels to raise the unit, and then lower the three-point until the tips of the toothed roller are just touching the ground. When you have it setup correctly, it will leave slight dimples in the soil. The dimpled pattern aids in leaving additional soil so that the seed is covered better when the area is rolled. I've done that for several houses and the percentage of seed that germinates is improved. There should also be end plates for the power rake that will turn it into a power box blade which is useful for spreading topsoil to level areas. They're expensive, but you can do things that take several implements instead of one. They make it easy to fill and level areas faster, break up hard, compacted soil, prepare seed beds, windrow debris for collection, etc.

A question, if your using a Harley rake and you come up on a massive rock, i.e. something that goes so deep it will not move, does it damage the teeth, and if so is it expensive to replace them?

Spent a fair amount of time with a vibe roller. Best piece of advice is to disengage the vibe as you slow to a stop and engage after your moving almost clutch like. Actually quite similar to a drum floor sander for hardwood. Nice looking floor. Diy is always a tossup with time, material, and tools. You don’t always have what you want, or what you need. But by gosh with the right motivation and creativity, you’ll get it done! Love watching you guys tackle this stuff. Gives me ideas my wife won’t like haha

Man, that really smoothed it out a lot quicker than using other tools. If using a box blade you might have filled in the voids but after rolling it there might be more material you have to put in it. Nice job and don't worry about the little cut, it happens.

I had several holes in my small ShelterLogic structure. When new, my structure came with scrap pieces that I used for this repair. I used 3M Hi-Strength Spray Adhesive 90 to glue the patch to the cover. It has stayed in place for 3 years now. When gluing the patch I had someone on the other side of the cover hold a piece of plywood against the hole so I could apply the patch and roll it flat. While your covering will be a lot thicker, it should syill work. The glue is very strong and sets fast.

Tim I'll tell you secret. Wet that down in there turn the vibrated on bring all the water back up to the top and then turn the vibration off and just roll out smooth and it will turn to like concrete when it dries. It's hard to even drive a nail in it. When you roll with the vibrated bring it to a slurry then roll it out without the vib on.

Nice video, thanks for sharing. It's nice that the tractor power rake can be adjusted hydraulically without getting off. Being able to only go forward means you can't get in corners as well. Be nice if they could put a reversing lever on it but that would add some to the cost.

I understand your pain about the rip in the shelter. I had the folks on my 3033R when I put crease on the barn siding. I had to use the kicking machine. I have an extra kicking machine if you would like to use it. The hand compactor can be guided by pushing the handle down or lifting up to make it go forward or backward. Using a vibratory roller was a smart move, the secret is to wet the stone down to a certain moisture content and then hit it with the roller right afterwards to get optimum compaction. Then let it set and and the berm can set up like concrete

The Shelter Logic tent is really looking good and the floor has a nice finish to it. For my pool cover I use the same fabric as to cover and a vinyl glue and it makes a pretty permeant fix. If you do any turning on the gravel your sure to push up ruts in the gravel. I do like the power rake on Johnny.

Maybe repair it like repairing a sailboat sail? Sew a square patch to the material and then stitch the edges of the tear to the patch material to prevent it from tearing more. For such a large area you would do a lot of walking from the inside to the outside if you were doing it by yourself but with two people it could go pretty fast. Once it is sewn it might be a good idea to seal the threads with a rubberized sealing compound.

  • @davidmcgee4525

With the attachment on the front it moves with the steering wheel. With attachment in rear - 3 point hitch - it moves with the steering wheel in the op posit direction and it is a more exaggerated motion. I learned this with a bottom plow that was secured to the frame of the tractor. that was a monster swing not to hit trees or break something.

Just keep in mind to have the work to justify the purchase. Those implements can upwards of 8k or higher depending on make.

I would think they make a patch for that. Can’t be the first time that’s happened. I’m guilty also Tim of not removing at least the bucket when doing tasks like that in close quarters.

They do make tape to repair the canvas. Don't ask how I know! Shelter Logic should have it in different colors or you can go on the interweb and find the tape. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from MA! 🎄🎄

I struggle with the same issue, trying to keep track of what is going on behind and in front of the tractor at the same time. I have some mirrors that I'm going to install on my 3032E to see if maybe that will help. I'll let you know how that works out!

Tim.........either get yourself some Gorilla tape or even Flex-Tape!! Both are amazing, strong holding, very sticky tapes that do an amazing job!!! Better then any vinyl patching!!!

Tim, I surely feel your pain. I built a nice new metal building on a ridge with a large drop off that I covered in RipRap. I left about 5.5 ft of flat green space between the building and RipRap. I keep that maintained with the mower and liquid weed eater. Well, one day I was putting down some liquid weed eater along the edge of the RipRap,,,, and like you,,, I left the bucket on the FEL and that sharp edge grabbed a ridge on that metal and I ripped the heck out of it. Again like you, lesson learned, it takes about one minute to drop that bucket off the FEL and it would have saved me grief and 💵. We live, we learn. I expect that fabric can be easily repaired. Do you have a Dr Vinyl in your area? If so, I bet they can fix it and maintain the structural integrity. Just be glad you didn’t catch one of the vertical supports....!

Use some baseball stitching to pull the rip together then use some white rubber spray sealer on both sides to seal it up.

On the larger tractors I used to own I could put the lifting arms on "float", that takes out the ups and downs.

I saw that kickin asphalt sticker and i was blown away. Then I saw the James river sticker too. 😂 I have never known Kickin Asphalt to let a machine go and leave their name on it. They absolutely could have traded it in because the company has grown QUICKLY over the past few years. They started out very small and now do state contracts on big jobs. So they might have traded or sold it. Sorta odd they left their sticker on it tho. 🤔 Hope it’s not stolen

Time to get the "Old Needle & Thread" out Tim. If all else fails, Gorilla Tape. [White Flex Tape too]. I would think the power rake on front would leave track marks with it on the front. But what do I know, I don't own a tractor. . . .

The call sign for my fire department radio is KQC 833, we would use it to sign on and off when we were in EMS mode, hardly ever while in FIRE mode, and now almost no one at the station knows the call sign...that was 25 years ago. Since going 800 MHz digital the radios do all the communication work for us.

I know it's cold there. The rock looks like 610 base stone. Down south we wet the stone as we put it in and once compacted it's like concrete.
