Trackside: Triple Pacific National XR Classes on 9145 North Geelong to Charlton grain- 9/4/21

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Video from the 9th of April 2021 and a chase of Pacific National's 9145 empty grain to Charlton Grainflow with XR's 557, 555 and 552 in charge.
Having ran up from North Geelong, the train is first seen rolling through the former junction town of Inglewood before being caught again climbing away from Glenalbyn and then arriving into Charlton. After that, we see some of the shunt moves where due to the set-up of the Grainflow siding, the XR's ran around the train and propelled it into the siding to load.
Trains seen in order are:
9145- XR557, XR555 and XR552

Goods Shed all fenced off, looks like someone using it for something. Volkswagen seen better days. Great clip, thanks Brad.

Excellent footage, thanks Brad! Nice to see the new timber sleepers and the maintenance which has reached that far south. Going to be a lot smoother and faster riding for the freight operators. Plenty of steam train action coming up in the month or so too so hopefully they get it completed by then 🙌

Yes Callum was looking at the sleepers laid out along the track and thinking you had mentioned this a number of times, on here and RP, hope your right with the faster and smoother riding. cheers.

It's nice to see the resleepering work but an absolute disgrace that they're still using timber. Surely they could have gone for low profile concrete or steel given they have publicly said these lines aren't being gauge converted.

@@Greensleeves94 Apparently Sea Lake to Berrillwolock is all concrete. You would have thought timber is more expense these days? Yes I agree, massive oversight as usual! I hope they actually add some fresh ballast too as it looks quite thin and sparse up at Sea Lake. There was a PN grainy there today too.

One wonders if someone high up in Vline has shares or a connection to the timber sleeper companies. No-where else is still using them. As for the location of the concretes, they'd have got far better use out of them if they were used on the section between Dunolly and Korong Vale. Hell, even just between Inglewood and Korong Vale for starters.

@@Greensleeves94 Well, we know how corrupt Vline was at the top! You would have thought that the part with the heaviest traffic would be prioritised! Not sure if the Manangatang line is receiving any maintenance after the Sea Lake?
