Trackside: Chasing XR553 and XR557 on PN's 9149 North Geelong to Berriwillock empty grain- 24/9/20

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Video of a rather enjoyable chase of Pacific National's 9149 North Geelong to Berriwillock empty grain on the 24th of September 2020, with XR553 and XR557 making their first revenue runs in approximately twelve months at the head of PN's second BG grain rake to enter service after reactivation.
I picked up the chase at Llanelly, catching the train at Inglewood, Kurting, Wedderburn Junction, Korong Vale, Charlton and Teddywaddy before finishing up with a shot of the train passing along Broadway, or the Calder Highway at Wycheproof and its' 700 metres of street running.
Trains seen in order are:
9149- XR553 and XR557

I can proudly state I've spent overnight at Wycheproof and used the local IGA shown. That's How The Locals Like It! Great video!

Thank you. I'd almost think the town would be against the removal of the street running section here if that was ever planned- it's a huge tourist attraction when there's a special train running.

@@Greensleeves94 Good point to keep in mind if further Federal or State funding is ever found to complete standardisation from Gheringhap to Maryborough, and from Dunolly to Sea Lake/Manangatang. I agree as the town has long learnt to live with it: road speed limits are low in the centre of towns, and there's no recent record of an accident - touch wood - that one can recall. 'Whyche' has also put its name on the map with that oddball running race, so it has at least two points of distinctiveness in an area that has been suffering from population loss due among other reasons to graingrower properties being amalgamated and some young people departing for 'the big smoke.'

Thank you, Wycheproof is a fair drive for me but I figured it was one I had to make in the brief time PN were running trains up in the daytime. Just as well I did as they've gone back to being night runners since when they've gone up there.

I grew up in Korong Vale from 1970 to 1980 and yes it is sad that it has more or less become a ghost town. There were two signal boxes and a refreshment rooms on the station as well as a overpass walk bridge and a fuelling point for the locos. Good memories!!

This is Sad Footage of a Major Rail Terminal, of Korongvale that had a Station and Massive Yard, catering to Steam Loco's Maintenance and Replenishment. It had a Large Number of Crews Positioned with Way and Works Teams Servicing the Branch Corridors. I remember when I was in TC, The Last Crews were still located there and a Station Building still existed in 1988 ? near there.
