In 1975, Sikkim was annexed by India. Bhutan, as a neighboring country, is not stupid. The Bhutan are a country established by Tibetans after migration. Bhutan and Tibet have the same culture and ethnicity. Bhutan is very different from India, both in culture and ethnicity. Bhutan's diplomacy and military are controlled by India. The British Empire left Bhutan, but Bhutan have to meet the Indians who have no bottom line. The key is that the per capita GDP of Tibet is five more times that of India. As a result, Indians covet the land of Tibet every day and say that they want to liberate Tibet. In the eyes of other countries, it is similar to North Korea saying that it wants to rescue Americans out of poverty.

China had sovereignty over Tibet for longer than USA has been a country, its set in stone, in black and white. There a legal documents to prove it. They allowed Tibet the authority to govern themselves, but make no mistake, sovereignty was still Chinas. Thats the difference between sovereignty and "control". And once the last Chinese Dynasty came to an end, there was an imperial edict (what we call treaty nowadays) that stated that sovereignty over Tibet was to be handed over to the next "China". Ie it was continuous. Everything was enshrined in law. That is why Tibet wanting to be their own little country was illegal. China rightfully took back control when they violated the law first.

We cannot talk about Bhutan without talking about Sikkim. Like Bhutan, Sikkim was an independent Himalayan Buddhist kingdom many hundreds of years old and a neighbor of China. Sikkim was briefly overrun by the Nepalese Gorkhas during the 18th century. The Sikkim king fled to China and asked for help. The then Qianlong emperor dispatched an expedition force to Sikkim and expelled the Gorkhas and restored Sikkim's sovereignty and independence. Sikkim was left unmolested for the rest of its history until it was gobbled up by the artificial country India in 1975. Chinese of older generations were taught that Sikkim was one of China's neighbors. Even student in Taiwan (Republic of China) were taught Sikkim was one of China's neighbors until a couple of decades ago. Bhutan is very similar to Sikkim in terms of ethnicity, language, religion and culture and history, only that it is bigger. Bhutan is in a precarious situation right now because it is the next low hanging fruit in India's expansionism and is currently militarily occupied by India. The reason I wrote this here is to educate the people in the world what is going on in that part of the world and stop indulging India, a country that is up to no good.

I really do not see any issues with these settlements. As far as India supporting the Russian land grab in Ukraine, and rejecting the land in punjab for sheiks , I would not have any issue with this minor village in this small corner of the world. It’s really not a big deal. India is complaining for no reason. This has no impact on the India people . The Indian should worry more about protecting women and not parading naked teens on the streets. They should also take back their people who have immigrated out, and give them the punjab if this little corner of a tiny country matters.

@@thinkie12 Your example doesn't represent the reality and has nothing to do with the current state of Israel. A representative example is this: Can an Iranian decide to go to India and occupy some piece of land because it used to be a part of Persian Empire? and the answer is no. India belongs to Indians. The Iranian can apply as an immigrant to go and live in his/her supposedly ancestoral land in India but if the application is successful, he/she will be a citizen of Indian. India won't be turned into Persia unless it's occupied by a large number of Iranians through the use of force and genocide! Just because your ancestors used to live somewhere centuries ago (or worse, because your "God" told you so) some foreign land won't belong to you.

After 5000 years of history, China still has not learnt all. Look at the Roman, how great was it to have one man ruled all?
