This week at Speedy's Garage we hit the quarter mile drag strip to test out our new Mickey Thompson ET Street R tires. Things definitely did not go as planned with our Dodge Challenger Hellcat Go Man Go.

    Thanks for sharing the bad as well as the good, Speedy. That’s a tough one even if you are ready for the trials of racing.

    10.0's and 10.50's are my sweet spot for modern cars. No cage needed and they live longer. I love that we can do all of this with a/c and full weight cars. That seemed impossible when I started racing.

    I was Waiting for the results from Them Awesome Mickey Thompson ET street R’s. The 60ft was Extremely Consistent! Now the way the video ended is not what we as Speedy Fans wanted to hear! The word Catastrophic has me speculating but I’ll wait to see your video in the future. Man I hope it’s not bad! I didn’t see any oil on the ground so that eased my mind a little!

    When you're practicing and running a faster car, especially a purpose built drag car, the challenge is to beat them on the tree. Send them to their pit thinking "if that had been eliminations, that guy would have put me on the trailer", get into their head and gain yourself a reputation as being real good on the tree. You never know when that will make a guy red light against you because he's heard your reputation. Always practice trying to win the reaction time.

    11 degrees of timing seems like too much timing on a 93 tune with a 2.72" pulley. OST tuned my Hellcat as well, I have the 2.85" pulley and my car is only at 8 degrees and I add a couple gallons of C16 in my tank when running the 93 tune.

  • @SpeedysGarage

    @SpeedysGarage

    5 жыл бұрын

    I wouldn't say 11 degrees is very much at all. Logs showed zero knock retard the previous weekend running the same setup on 93. I also ran the car on the street for several months as well with a lot of WOT pulls and checking logs no STKR. This was something different.

    Cat fails (of the atastrophic variety, not hell) are no bueno, sorry to see that. Hope it isn't too painful on your end. You were a fart away from 9's, so here's to hoping you're back out soon with a PR. Glad to see the MTs were a step in the right direction in addition to less squish. Driving both now would you have gone MT in OK or are they still no bueno for us rowers?

    Love the MT ET Street R for an A8 Hellcat. For an M6, I'd probably still look at the Hoosier for the side wall flex to absorb some of that shock load at launch.

    Dyno tunes are good but they don't take the inertia of the vehicle into consideration so the car is loaded much differently. Hopefully it isn't a major issue.
