Thanks for this video. I'm rebuilding my Phazer Skid right now, and want to replace ALL of the bearings in the drive train. That means taking the jack shaft and drivers out to check those bearings too. Cheers

It was easy to get them both out. The open chaincase bearings were VERY gritty. Glad I check them. @@ADDvanced

On a sled that old you might want to replace the driveshaft & jackshaft bearings while you have it apart. The bearings on the chain case side seem to last longer with the lube they get from the gear oil but I've had a few driveshaft bearings fail on the opposite side. The bearing will let go and snap the speedo cable so that is a good indication of a bearing failure. Also, you can make some tunnel protectors by attaching hyfaxes directly above the windows in the track.

Thought about it, but honestly that one is so easy to get to.... seems like it might have been changed relatively recently as well. Good idea with the old hyfax!

If your trails get icy you will be glad you have the studs, stopping\slowing down without them can be a real pain in the front end

Yep, I actually prefer no studs in the corners as you can slide it around a bit more (fun!) but the no stopping thing can get really expensive and painful quick.

I hope you used a bit of medium thread lock on the bottom bolt. I had one come into the shop that worked it's way loose. Love watching you videos.

I.... did not. Didn't see it mentioned, but maybe I'll tip it on the side, reinstall w locktite, and button it back up.

To remove the springs on the exhaust, i use hose pliers. More than one utility less junk in my toolbox

You could put some tunnel protectors in there to prevent that damage before it tears into the gas tank

Ehhhhh might be about the same, as it's heavier but also a lot better traction. Biggest thing for me is I like having brakes, and when the track is basically a belt sander they don't stop very well at all.

Not sure but my phazer had a 116” track so when I put on my 121” track I moved the mounting holes for the skid 2.5 inches back

Phazer 1s had a 116 and phazer 2s had 121

It's after market because the stock pipe is all one piece with a big rectangular muffler made from 2 pieces of metal sandwiched together from front to back

That's a aftermarket exhaust. good for 12-14hp, you want it, verify 148.8 main jets and 110 pilot or you could melt it down. Put tunnel protectors in or take the studs out, or they will tear up the tunnel (more).

@@danieljones7367 Probably but I never reuse jets if I'm rebuilding them, new ones are so cheap. I keep the old ones as spares.

Do you want the original Aaen Pipe and Bender wide kit for your Phazer builds ? I'm in PA.

@@patyagecic3075 I would I just feel like shipping something the size of a pipe from that far away would be insane.... AAEN is in Wisco so if I really need one I can probably find one local. But yeah, pretty much everything I own was a pile of crap when I bought it, I just like to build cool stuff on the cheap.

New track looks bitchin’. I recall turning my stock Phazer track 180 degrees to put the vertical section of the paddle to make it bite more. Waaaaay before aftermarket tracks with higher lugs. It was a bit of a wrestling match with the drive axle…

Little tech tip never use gear luv in chain case , use regular chain case oil for snowmobiles or 30wt oil

I find it easier to remove and install the track/skid with the machine on its side.that pipe is stock.hard to watch but like you said you gotta learn somehow.lol🤪

Yes. I agree. Sled like that keep it as light as possible. Playing in the snow. Track hookes up on something let it spin. Better then unnecessary strain on drive line
