    I had to do this once in the military. It was back at the end of the 1970s, and un fortunately it was a friend. I was on duty at a base in the states, when a friend came running up to me and said he wanted to see my rifle, and grabbed for it at the same time. I was never shown this move, or trained in it, but my hand instinctively went up and grabbed his trachea, while I turned and my other hand secured my weapon. When I backed him against the wall he let go of my rifle, and I released him.

    I can vouch for the effectiveness of this move. Unfortunately I had to use this manoeuvre after being nearly knocked out cold from a king hit. After nearly being knocked unconscious, this was my only available option, and I am surprised to this day about how easy and effective it was.

    @rshadoe give this a try and you'll discover that the combination of having one arm wrapped and your grasp firmly on their trachea, you will have their undivided attention and complete cooperation. It's a highly vulnerable and painful hold. Be careful, very careful, in practicing this. Perhaps have someone else put you in the hold and feel for yourself why you will not be attempting anything with the off hand.

  • @nickv8728

    This is always gonna be a kill without cooperation, squirming means your applied pressure receives motion... A good warning sign that your In the sweet spot is the squeel, it's involuntary and not the same as a verbal pain response and it tells you not to add more pressure. Not uncommon for them to void their bowels or urinate, often they will drift in and out

    A trained combatant! If you have one arm locking his right arm....and one arm utilizing your hand to grab his throat, then the odds are that if he is trained as you are...your trachia is in a hold also. He wont stop to worry about his throat immediately...he will worry about his throat only as you battle the wills and both start really applying pressure. You will have one of two endings...either one of you will pass out first, or one of you will die. . Sadly...If it ever came to me having to grab a man by the trachia....I would preferably grab and rip his larynx out first to minimize him reacting back on me. These kind of moves as a nightclub bouncer is serious shit. Very easy to make a mistake.

    Would a short woman be able to use that lifting arm skill? Usually men are taller than women. If not, what would be an alternative move for that one. I like the idea of the trachia hold, but the arm move concerns me.

  • @attatae

    @attatae

    9 жыл бұрын

    Lynda Huebel No, because you need to have it up to the guys armpit, or else he can wriggle free. Not sure a girl's hands (untrained) will be strong enough either to crush or control trachea. Esp with long, possibly unreal nails. Alternatives depend. I'm guessing you're not a bouncer? Maybe a claw to eyes, then swift groin kick.

  • @MaxLohMusic

    @MaxLohMusic

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Lynda Huebel You have a good eye/intuition to notice that indeed this move is less effective against tall people. But this technique isn't even suitable for "self-defense" anyway -- it's a bouncer's technique to control someone who's not committed to fight back. Just try holding onto your traechea like this while lowering your chin all the way down and backing up; it's impossible

  • @mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm9378

    @mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm9378

    4 жыл бұрын

    Lynda Huebel the lifting of the arm is unnecessary as long as you squeeze the trachea firmly, but not TOO hard, it’s very easy to accidentally kill someone with too much pressure. Hard firm static pressure is good.

    I would forget confronting the man unless cornered, sis. Then this would be last resort. Car key to eyes, nails across eyes, knee to groin, heel hard down on top of foot....and plenty leg room to run to nearest lit area. If you live in america.... carry! These moves are for big men with a purpose.

  • @lucasthompson1650

    @rshadoe The other arm is almost useless as soon as you lift, no leverage at all, and it is difficult to get a big breath of air for a strong strike. Evaluating a situation to decide how to handle it is as important as the learning the techniques themselves. "what if.."'s aren't really a good way to judge any one particular move. That said, "what if" scenarios are a good thing to ask of teachers and trainers in order to get that knowledge and better insights into how to evaluate an opponent.

  • @mrblaque215

    Definitely a great self defense grappling technique and very versatile. The move is even more painful if you use the underhooking arm to grab the choking hand's wrist, as it incorporates an armbar in with the choke.

    When this is applied correctly the persons center is up and one arm is restrained. Their attention is on their airway and the pain. Further- if they attempt to use their free arm (which is highly doubtful) you just squeeze a little harder and they will forget that idea- really. 😎

    there are more then one way to brake that hold so I would surjest that you cover that as well but the easiest way is to just drop go limp and as LATORR said look down will going limp and you are free then just side step and kick the side of the knee and he goes down then as I have done a lot while living in Highland park CA just leave.

  • @mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm9378

    Charles Myrick I’ve used a trachea hold before, people always try to break it so now I immediately yank them towards me and strike the floating ribs (around the liver) your body is in enough physical shock and instinctive drive to not think clearly. Remember when your throat is being attacked you respond with instincts or whatever training you have so unless you’ve trained to counter this hold, the attacker has ALL the control.
