TOZEUR & The TUNISIAN SAHARA 🇹🇳

Tozeur توزر ‎ - A small city in southwest Tunisia - the gateway to the Tunisian Sahara and the mountain oases.
In this video I'll travel from Sfax to Tozeur by local transport and take a quick look around Tozeur before heading out with a 4x4 to explore the area around.
We'll visit the mountain oases by the Algerian border which bread life into this desert land (Tamaqzah, Midès, Chebika), before heading down to the edge of the Sahara to see the stark desert, mirages and even film sets!
We'll finish of in the set of Mos Espa - The space port on the planet of Tatooine in Star Wars Episode 1.
It's and incredible way to spend a day in Tunisia, and I was blown away! Come along and you'll see why.

I always enjoy your videos but the Tunisian Sahara experience was outstanding. I immediately had to watch it a second time as there was so much to take in. The waterfalls and so much greenery was unreal and had to be seen to be believed. Thank you so much for taking me to such outstanding scenic views.

Brought back great memories! One little hint is that the “fort/ castle” you found in the desert is scenery from the movie “Bab Aziz” which was filmed in southern Tunisia. I am 99% certain. The Tunisian director was not allowed to shoot in Iran where, I think, the story of the low budget movie is set. The movie is on KZread and is one of my favourites. It is a mystical Sufi tale but if that is not your thing just watch the opening scene (I know you will like it). I will never think of sand in the same way again and I was in a sandstorm coming out of the Chott al Jared..

Great Video! Tozeur and the south are the busiest during Winter break in December. That's when the desert is not so hot, you can attend Douz International Festival and you can buy fresh dates from the season harvest. I'm guessing you visited during the off season when it's not busy.
