How to drive for best fuel efficiency in city driving :
Engage ECO mode
Don't use ventilation if not needed
Prefer seat warmer if possible
Only use AC if needed
Don't put air blow too strong
Don't put air temperature too high or too low
Go quickly to the required road speed limit by going to the end of the ECO bar
Try to stay between the CHARGE line and first half of the ECO bar to engage EV mode.
Try not go over the ECO bar (PWR mode).
Try not to deplete the battery by voluntarily using the manual EV mode for too long.
Try to anticipate road traffic (ex : slightly press the brake pedal in order to regen instead of pressing too hard, engaging the brakes)
Prefer coasting or gliding (by staying in first half of ECO) than big accelerations and brutal braking.
Avoid turning the engine on and off too often.
Make the required car services on time.
Don't use big rims.
Use fuel efficiency friendly tires.
Always check tires are well inflated.
Don't keep unneeded heavy or non aerodynamic stuff in or on the car.

    Yeah nice video. You pretty much explained all and how to drive it, so a big thumbs up for you 👍. There's not many videos showing how it really feels like driving a hybrid. I also have a Auris TS and I've seen it charging the battery completely when going downhill for a long time... But yeah that happens not that often ;-) . Also if you do more city driving I'm sure that fuel consumption will be less. Take care !

    @@funcarreviews kompresor ? It has a turbo ? Here where I live Toyota doesn't sell cars with turbos.... Except for the Land Cruiser or some industrial vehicles. Here they only sell hybrids, except for the Yaris 1.0 petrol engine and the Aygo. Not to mention the bigger beasts. Corolla, Yaris, ch-r, RAV4... All hybrids. And not not any of them.

    You're right about the turning radius. I believe that the 15" alloy wheels have a much lower turning radius than the 16" ones. Curiously , I don't think I've ever seen heated seats on this version of the Yaris in the UK.

  • @funcarreviews

    @funcarreviews

    4 жыл бұрын

    Glad you enjoyed it 😀. Well full EV is not much. Lets say around 2-3KM. But there are some restrictions as described. You can’t force full EV manually after 30 or 40 KM/h. But it can automatically engage EV mode at least up to 60Km/h. So you do save gasoline. I don’t remember the consumption for highways. It will be more like a normal car as EV might help but will never work alone with those speeds. City consumption is around 4 to 5 L/Km in summer. Keep in mind as it is a standard hybrid car, you cannot really Fully charge it.

    Wait is this the average consumption on simple gasoline of 95 octane? 5.5? Toyota advertises like 3.5-4 but I guess that was a lie! So is it worth it to get this while the standard gasoline model (no hybrid) has a consumption of about 6.5? I'm thinking of buying this car so as to save money from fuel consumption because the price of a liter is at about 1.4 in my country right now. But 5.5 is not a big difference to 6.5..... Thanks! Nice video!

  • @funcarreviews

    @funcarreviews

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes we are on a 95. The fuel consumption is higher in cold temperature (which was the case here). I usually have 5 l/100KM when looking at the statistics of the car (since last refuel). I m around 550 KM of range with a fuel tank of 36 L. A lot of time when driving in the city only, i'm around 3.5 to 4.5. It really depends on your road conditions too and driving style.

  • @funcarreviews

    @funcarreviews

    By the way, the values are often non realistic at all. Although with the new standard, they are more close to real values than with the old standard, it will never be close to the reality. They make the tests in extremely good conditions, that a real user might never have.

  • @aldariel744

    @@funcarreviews yeah I guessed so. I move into the city mostly with a lot of starts and stops so that's why i'm looking for a car like this but I can't figure it out if it's worth it or not the extra 2.000 that it's sold in my country. It's at about 16.000 euros right now whereas the "active" gasoline model is at about 14.000. I won't be paying extra "road taxes" for it but the insurance is a bit more expensive here for a hybrid. I have to calculate everything and see if it will be worth it in 10 years that I will have to buy new batteries for a couple of thousand euros.

  • @funcarreviews

    @funcarreviews

    4 жыл бұрын

    This is a hard calculation that's for sure. Having a hybrid is also more of state of mind. Polluting less (locally), making some fuel economies. Funny it's more expensive (maybe because more powerful that the normal one ?). Batteries should have a warranty longer than the car, but battery degradation is a real thing. I wouldn't be of a real help here as this is very personal. If you are interested, i have done a full review of this car (the good and the bad) :kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYSjzamDm7DIYNY.html and also one on hybrid thought sharing : kzread.info/dash/bejne/f52gmq2hdrPAqbg.html

  • @funcarreviews

    @funcarreviews

    4 жыл бұрын

    Great :). Actually when possible you should always stay below the end of the eco bar when accelerating to reach your speed. Then You should glide in EV by staying between the charge line and first half of the Eco zone. Going uphill will always have a big toll on consumption in any cars. In my Audi A3 e-tron, uphilling is a battery / range killer. Same for my fuel consumption. Also to improve, I do not use ventilation and use ECO mode. 4.5 is great. But keep in mind that in winter, cold temperatures will higher your consumption a bit, not only because you ll use heat, but because it s not that good for the battery and the engine must stay a bit warm, so it has to engage sometimes.
