Toyota Yaris CV Axle Replacement How-To

This video will show you how to replace the drivers side cv axle on the Toyota Yaris. This was done on a 2007 but this procedure and cv axle part number will cover the 2007-2016 Toyota Yaris. Cv axle was purchased from Amazon and I have provided a link below.

Great video, thanks for uploading.. I'm doing my DS next week.. this was great info.... I'm just coming up to 300000 km on my 09 Yaris LE, fwiw... that trans fluid looks awful... I use a vacuum syphon to pull 2 liters out of the transmission (through the fill tube) every 50-60000 km (starting at 120k) that way you end up with a full fluid change over 200000 km. I only use Toyota ATF for replacement. Still runs strong and gets about 55 MPG on the highway. Cheers from. W Ontario Canada.

23 mm turned into 33mm somehow. But good straightforward explanation. Would also like to note that you almost never need to pry. You can often push it in and twist a bit to release the snap-ring...as I've done with every CV Axle I've ever changed. First time doing a Toyota will be today. 2008 Yaris. Hence why I looked at this video. Hopefully I wont need the pry bar.

Have you ever had a problem getting the axel out of the transmission? I got that far and am stuck. Feels like the pry bar is going to break before the axe comes loose. I removed the boot and hub end of the axel from the part stick in the transmission and am going t try to get it with my slide hammer and/or puller 🤞🤞

It will take quite a bit of force have you tried hitting the pry bar with a hammer to try and break it free? If not check with your local auto parts store they may have a rental tool like this www.amazon.com/dp/B09B1XPQQJ/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_WMS0RWD4YXH1ESKVSF7A?linkCode=ml2&tag=bluecollargar-20 or this tool which would connect to your slide hammer amzn.to/3VhTZyA

@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE yep thanks I didI try that. toiled with the pry bar/ hammer combo for literally hours. Eventually got it off using a slide hammer with a steel cable looped around the axel between axel and the transmission. Spent all day doing the drivers side. After the steep learning curve I was able to get the passenger side done in a little less than an hour. Only to discover that my bearings are the culprit. The boots were torn so probably good that I replaced them despite it not fixing my issue.

It is located in a somewhat difficult spot to get to but as you can see in the video I was still able to get it out with a basic pry bar without damaging anything. There is a little slot on the cv axle where you can put the pry against that helps. Or there’s a couple tools that will help amzn.to/3Qx7pVm Or this one amzn.to/3QalTuw but I would just try with a pry bar first it does take quite a bit of force to pop it out.

No, there’s really no shake on the steering wheel. You just hear the rotating rumbling going on. Sounds like where the axle slides into the transmission. I jacked the front off the car up (both wheels off the ground) pulled ebrake, put it in drive, passenger tire was rising, driver side wasn’t, gave it a little gas and as soon as the driver side tire started turning the noise started happening and the tire was wobbling.

The wobbling is in the tire, if you drive real slow you can feel the wobble. Almost like when you have a bent rim on a bicycle
