    I bought my 2016 Venza XLE in 2020, and absolutely LOVE it. It was around 23K (Canadian) used and up til last month I had no issues. My moonroof spontaneously exploded and she's currently in the shop now waiting to get fixed. If I had an option to replace the moonroof with normal metal roof I totally would, but hopefully it won't explode again.

    2011 XLE V6. 102,000 miles. Had to replace rear differential at 85,000 miles because the first owner never maintained it (didn't change the gear oil every 30,000 miles). Very expensive fix, but not the vehicle's fault. Thing runs great. I religiously change the oil and fluids. Expecting it to last me another 10 years.

    @@bobsantilli7565 Depending on where a car was serviced it might be listed on the carfax or it might not. Most people know enough to change the engine oil, but most people fail to change their transmission and differential fluids once in a while and manufacturers typically say those fluids are good for the "life of the transmission or differential", the problem is the engineers will tell you the "life" of them is usually only 70k miles so it's on you to request those fluids are replaced every 30k-60k miles. Another fluid people fail to replace once in a while is engine coolant. Toyota uses a coolant that's good for 7 years or 70k miles. Failing to replace the engine coolant means the coolant becomes excessively corrosive and it'll start to eat away at the inside of the aluminum engine and radiator.

    I think you are the only person on here who understand the Venza. I don't understand why it didn't sell well since it has more ground clearance than a RAV4 during this generation (8" vs 6.3"), and just about as roomy. The measurements are very close to the Subaru Outback as you mentioned. Toyota should have done a better job with the description and comparison. I hope to find a good used example (XLE AWD 4 cyl) for my next car. Great job. Thanks for your video.

    I love my Venza . . . Toyota did a poor job of marketing it IMO . . . very comfortable and the 2.7 four is strong enough to handle the AWD weight. Not an SUV, not a car, the crossover term is the only thing that fits at nearly 64 inches tall and with 8 inches of ground clearance. The huge tires make it a surprisingly agile vehicle despite it's size. I too wish they still made them.

    Correct, er, almost. We've gone through several generations of Volvo wagons raising a family but the 2014 Limited bears no resemblance in it's fit or feel. Venzas are oversized and muscular, with power to back it up. Most importantly is the ease of access for those of us with multiple knee replacements. Don't write me off yet. 😀

  • @OldThomMerton
    @OldThomMerton4 жыл бұрын

    Toyota refused to categorize the Venza and that (IMO) was a mistake . . . however, I can see the problem as it is very hard to define. Crossover is the term I use, and I define a crossover as a hybrid vehicle, a cross between a wagon and an SUV, taller than a car/wagon but shorter than an SUV. - I've owned mine for a year now and I love the wagonish looks, the AWD (great for snowy winters and gravel roads), the very comfortable seats, the extra seating height and the massive amount of space for cargo. The entry height, taller than a car but shorter than most SUV's, is also a life-saver; I have a bad back and left leg and I cannot easily toe-up to climb into the tall SUVs, nor climb out of cars or wagons. I've also been very pleasantly surprised at the cornering capability of this vehicle . . . the wide tires and the AWD allows for a little fun on the curves with little body roll (and when you do feel body roll you know to take it back a notch). The Venza feels a lot like a car in most driving situations, which is good for me because I've always had sports cars or muscle cars and I cannot stand the way most SUV's feel on the road. There is very little body lean and the ride plays the middle ground between a smooth-riding car and a rough-riding SUV/sport car . . . and for me that is perfectly fine. One of my few complaints is the steering, which feels is a little dull; Toyota electric steering always dampens the road feel, which is bad for a driver like me who likes to 'feel' the road beneath the vehicle . . . fortunately, the SUVish suspension and the side tires gives some feedback.

    Nah they categorized as a mid size sedan. Many labeled it an SUV or new type or crossover. and back then crossovers were not yet big in the states just yet. Lol it was definitely a Frankenstein design that divided opinions haha.

  • @OldThomMerton

    @OldThomMerton

    @@crazykenbei Incorrect. Toyota never categorized it but they eventually bowed to the automobile industry classifying it as a mid-sized crossover. Many Toyota-centric reviewers tried to classify it as a 'Camry wagon' and disliked it's driving dynamics, but I do not believe that they were looking at it correctly.

    I just noticed one of these for the first time yesterday. It seems like a direct competitor to the Subaru Outback, which accounts for six out of every seven station wagons sold in the United States. Although the Venza styling is a little more bland than than the Outback, I am surprised that it did not sell better than it did, and was discontinued. I have owned Toyotas in the past, and their reliability is first rate.

"In a Toyota showroom chock-full of SUVs and crossovers - RAV4, Highlander, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser, Sequoia - and a close relation at Lexus, the RX, routinely outselling all premium SUV/CUV nameplates, the Venza was tasked with too great a challenge: carve out a niche for a brand which already has all corners covered, but not too small a niche."

    Crossover . . . Car & Driver refused to include the Venza in their Best Car competition, and if C&D says it's not a car, then it also can't be a station wagon . . . Crossover.

    There was back and forth then. Publications wanted to put it in their SUV of the year category. Toyota wanted them to put it in the car category as a mid size sedan with competitors comparisons such as the accord and maxima. Back then crossovers weren't as big in the states just yet. So it was just Frankenstein 😂.

    Garbage 🗑. I was taking care of my Venza excellent, from the beginning. However, it started burning oil after 80000 km and completely dead after 180000 km. No compression due to faulty piston rings. $7500 for engine rebuilt. Factory used low tension piston rings. Very disappointed.

    Sporty, upscale, blah blah blah. Why don't your tell what screws up on them like motor trans timing bets ovs a chain. You don't really know anything more than what everyone else can visually see.

    Wrong! Excellent gas mileage for a 3,800 lb. vehicle. I get 25-26mpg driving around the area I live. Highway gets 29mpg. 2.7 liter 4cyl is an excellent motor 1AR-FE. Considered one of the best 4cyl's ever made. Just because you have something to say doesn't mean you should open your yap, if you're clueless.
