I glad your dad got a v6 and not a 4 cyl. He would have hated it. The 5 cylinder barely motivates our 2020 Camry well enough. I’m a diy mechanic & do all my own servicing, over the 18 years, I spent about $1500 on a new clutch a set of ignition coils & I replaced the injectors. I now own a Toyota Rav 4 hybrid, if I get half the service out of it like I did with my prado I will be happy.

I've owned 30+ cars in my life including various Toyotas but my current vehicle is a 2014 Venza 6 cyl. AWD Ltd that I bought used 5 years ago. It is the best car I've ever owned as far as reliability and functionality. Besides regular maintenance all I've spent on it is a passenger side puddle light assembly for $80.00 Cdn. These cars are a hidden gem and I would buy another if Toyota still made it in this configuration. I'm evidently not alone in my opinion, as I see literally dozens of these models in my small town in Ontario, Canada. It is roomy, relatively quiet, powerful, and is relatively fuel efficient. Perfect...no, but not far from it!

I've had a 2013 Venza since 2014 and I love it. Same spec as this one- 4cyl, FWD. Thing is bulletproof and hasn't left me stranded. The only complaint I have is the steering column rattle issue. It's apparently harmless, but it is an annoying sound and from what I understand, expensive to fix. Other than that superficial thing, it's been a fantastic vehicle. I've put 100,000 miles on it and it's sitting at around 140,000. I imagine it'll go to 350,000.

I can tell you that having a 4cyl for many years living in a snow cold weather state wasn't always the best experience. After going from a car into a midsized suv with a v6 and awd I would never ever go back. I handle any and all bad weather conditions with ease, and I drive through tons of bad snow storms this year and feel more comfortable and confident doing it. My honda was great. I loved my Accord, but having more power, more traction, and more capabilities with the suv is a very nice welcoming change.

One of the things I like about this Scotty Kilmer channel is how it shows how some people have had apparently less success with their lawn as I have had! My BIG problem with my lawn in Woodbridge (VA) is the lespedesa that comes up every year. This year for the first time, I put down Dimension pre-emergence weed control in early March, but it seems like some of these weeds are sprouting up. If it only reduces the amount of this weed, I will try this again next year with an earlier application.

These are hard to find. Not like trying to find either a Honda CRX or Toyota Supra in original factory condition but these just aren't out there in big numbers. The good thing is that you can usually get them a little cheaper than something like a 4Runner or Highlander.

This model of Venza was massively successful in Canada. People freaked when they stop making them and it even jacked up the price. But, unfortunately Canadian sales weren't enough to keep the model relative enough for Toyota to sell them. I think they are great.

I have a 2011 V6 Venza with 104,000 miles on it. It had 17 miles when I drove it off the dealer's lot. It is an outstanding vehicle. The only thing I've ever had to do to it was replace the alternator at around 100,000. It is quiet and powerful. It's starting to show some wear on the driver's seat leather, but people who have never ridden in it think it's brand new. We also have a 2009 Camry V6 with also around 104,000 on it. Same engine and the alternator on it went out at around 95k. My wife has driven it since brand new and it's showing its age b/c she kept it parked outside in the hot sun until she retired. I drive a company vehicle every day and the Venza has mostly lived in the garage and is used for long range cruising which Scotty and other mechanics say is better. The Venza is awesome!

Took a road trip up to Toyama yesterday via Nagano and the Japanese alps. 800 + change kilometers, 7-8% road grades, narrow mountain roads with sharp blind curves. The farther I got from the Kanto plains and closer to farms and snow, the less SUVs I saw. Maybe 1 Land Cruiser, 1 Surf, quite a few Subaru’s. No Mercedes G-class, no Land Rovers, no Jeeps, no Tacomas, no idiots with giant lift kits and AT tires. No lines of people in spandex riding expensive road bikes down the road and very few 50cc scooters. Down to earth people using cars and trucks that help get work done and that function in the local elements. On the return leg, the reverse occurred. By the time I was cruising down the beach road near Kamakura it was SUV, SUV, SUV.

The V6 is the 2GR-FE that they put in everything during those years and they all will develop the dreaded front timing cover leak. $20 in gaskets and $3500 in labor to REMOVE the engine in order to do the repair. It’s an ‘engine-out’ job on the Sienna, RX, Venza, etc. The v6 is silky smooth but the 4-cyl might be the safer bet. It would be great if Scotty gave his thoughts on this.

The 0-60 is dreadful, but you don't get a hatchback/midsize SUV for the acceleration. The only thing I'm disappointed about is, how low it is compared to a midsize SUV, and it can be difficult putting kids in the seats.

Scotty is the best. The one thing I don't like about Toyota is they seem to have the worst paint jobs. I have never owned one and I don't have any statistical facts but it seems like so many times I see a newer looking car where the paint job has failed it is a Toyota. Maybe it's because they last forever and are actually old cars that are still on the road.
