Can you do a video on reconditioning battery's..Can I just buy/use acid that goes into back up basement battery's (that come dry so there fresh when you first pour the acid in)?Because I found that at ace or a better question dose distilled watter and epsome salt REALLY work to recondition a battery.Or will cranking amps just never be the same?

$14,000 is affordable comparatively, not specifically to you. The lower your budget, the more work you'll need to learn to do yourself. You can still find great cars for dirt cheap, but you'll need to learn to do work yourself.

For a daily beater I bought a 97 Camry @330k miles for only $1300 and the previous owner lady took very good care and had every receipt 🧾 so I knew what it needed and will need for preventative. It’s runs so smooth and quiet and made a safe trip from SF to Vegas ❤😂 . To me that’s dirt cheap

That's not dirt cheap. The car is about 27 years old, according to depreciation value it's worth nothing. She could have charged, whatever she wanted but $1,300 was too much. More like $300 would have been acceptable.

I just got myself a 2008 Corolla with 98k miles on it. I love on it everyday . May have over paid for it at $6900 but it is mint and shiny. Runs and stops perfect. Came with maintenance records including trans services.

I brought one 12 years ago used with 23K for 10K and the car came with original sales slip for 17K and still using it daily. I only do oil change Trans fulid change and I did change spark plug and suspension. Still running fine and I don't have 30K to buy a new one!

Oh how I wish I could've just been there with scotty and his father in that old Texaco gas station back in the 70s.

The V6 Venza is mechanically identical to the Lexus RX350. They share the same everything- even the interior. It’s an excellent vehicle if you find a good one.

The Venza v6 has slightly less hp and a different transmission than the rx350, I believe it's a 5 speed vs Lexus 6 speed but not sure. The Lexus is more refined, quieter and smoother. The interior is definitely lower quality than the Rx, my 2010 Rx still looks luxurious inside almost 15 years later. It's incredible. That being said, the Venza has a lower ride height and that's an issue with the Rx, it drives too tall and the suspension could be better tuned(probably due to Camry-based design). And the better mpg makes the Venza a better daily in my opinion, Rx for when you go to the movies 🍿😁

Starts off with Toyota Venza 0:03 , then onto Prius 11:00, then on to, Corolla at 23:00

I bought a 2013 toyota venza 2.7 FWD. XLE model with 122.000 last Father's day. It spent its first 3yrs in Texas. Then 6yrs in southern Illinois, now in Chicago, this is the very first Japanese car I've ever bought, i was always a GM man, Chevy's and then Buick's, But Boy o Boy, Im in love with this great looking , great Running Comfortable Venza, funny, i never knew what the heck a Venza even was, i was lucky to find this one, the color is Bronze /gold with tan leather interior, the ride is unbelievable, smooth, quite, like scotty says, if you csn find one of these, Buy it, you wont regret it, Mine was alittle pricey, i paid $16,000 for it, but its super clean and well maintained, plus once i seen it, nothing else caught my eye like this one, hopefully this will last me at least 10 more years, or till i reach 80 yrs old ,lol

While playing blackjack, the dealer told me she came out of retirement because her car broke down. I told her to not fix it and buy a Toyota instead.

My boss has a Venza. To this day it is the only one of these cars I've ever seen (I guess that makes them rare). I had never heard of one until I saw his in the parking lot.

I have a 2005 Toyota Prius and it has 229,000k miles and it drives perfectly! And still gets great gas mileage!

Uncle Scotty is the mechanic.

I have a 6 cylinder 2010 venza with 197K miles no issues the only things I have replaced was the alternator, spark plugs and coils. the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned

Thank you Scotty your channel. Has made me a better mechanic. I was ready to scrap my 08 Subaru. Now it's running like it should. Just replacing a bad transmission control module. Something I would have never thought of. Because I'm not a professional mechanic.

I baught 2003 Corolla s auto 1 month ago the car has 222,000 miles the paint is shot but everything else is there best 400 dollars I've ever spent parts arent expensive like Scotty said Ive gotten a ton of oem parts at junkyards for the car now it looks great now I get people asking me if I sell the car but I love the car even though it does have a check engine light for the converter p0420 doesn't bother me I'll live with it

A hub cap serves a purpose of covering the hub but and helps prevent the lug nuts from rusting on so hard. The cheaper models that have hub caps many times will use the cheap lug nuts with it, and therefore the hub cap serves its practical purpose. But the flashy models have no hub caps but designer rims, but since they no hub caps it is required to use the more expensive lug nuts that have a cap on each and every lug. In other words if you want to have the practicality the hub cap provided for the car without the hub cap, then you need to find lug nuts with caps that fit the car hub and rim.

I have a 2014 Camry hybrid and i love that thing...125K miles and still looks brand new ...just regular oil changes and one brake job.....just broken in....Toyotas last forever if you take care of them

my 2000 4runner also still its original exhaust. Toyota does wonders with their metal work. If I bought a Venza, i would definitely go for the non-hybrid.

I'm looking at a 2018 buick right now and it's being serviced, they said the exhaust is being replaced. I'm wondering why it would need it's exhaust replaced cuz my 2008 never did. Is there a reason that should that be concerning? If you might happen to know, I'm not very car savvy.

@@krystalshepherd4582 with a 2018 you should be fine. Some older vehicles the exhaust could rust out, or the fasteners that hold it could break. Not garenteed to happen, just a chance.

Actually, the 2.7 L was the four-cylinder that they put in the second generation Tacoma’s. They also put it in the early 2000 sienna’s very reliable engines. I have abused, mine, missed oil changes, put the wrong oil in it, raced it delivered in it, then left her to sit for two years, and now it’s driven rarely but starts every time

Yep. Nice that Scotty's onboard with plugin hybrids with ~50mile range. I think that's the sweet spot for cards now. Could be really cool and let you install varying amounts of battery. You go home, you charge up, you drive on electric. Getting a giant battery for the 3 times a year you take a long trip is just a waste. And the electric engine has a nice synergy with an ICE engine, reducing the ICE's needed operating range. It can all last forever. I've got a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid. Wish I could expand the battery pack - cheaply.

A good, reliable used car, that you pay cash for is, better than any car loan!

Do people know that trains are like hybrid except it doesn't have a humongous battery that powers the electric drive motor . But it does have an engine that powers a generator that power's the drive moter.

There are conversion kits available for turning a hybrid into a plug-in hybrid. Plus there are (or were several years ago) shops that will convert a hybrid for you.

I myself prefer a standard transmission in what I drive. I'd also have to say that the plug in hybrid does make the most sense when it comes to electrification. 50 to 80 miles worth the battery range so you can plug it in and do most of your normal commuting and the gasoline engine for when you need it. I really think that makes the most sense.

There are quite a few in Canada. I got a 2014 last year for about US $20,000. Only had about 30,000 miles on it. It came with V6. I’m really pleased with it. I just really wanted. a Toyota again. I also need the all wheel drive

My 1996 Lincoln Town Car has the original exhaust, and I'm in Minnesota. It was $4,000. and had 110,000 miles when I bought it.

The toyota hybrids have a maintenance mode to keep the gas engine running for diagnostics.

my kid still has a 2007 prius. it needs some exhaust pipe work, so it it sitting this last year. but up until then, it was working fine! Including the battery pack. simply amazing

A salesman will always avoid a question to you that you could possibly answer "no." They will ask as many as they can where the obvious and pretty much only answer is "yes." They let you talk yourself into "yes!--the car for me!" Friend of mine went to school for a week learning how to sell GM cars. He also said he learned how to tell who was running the show and deciding if and which car was being bought by observing the couple for about 5 minutes. He said 80% of the time it's the boss....yeah, wife. Nothing is by accident on that lot.

You should know what you want before you walk in. No point in talking about the vehicle in question. What's the best cost should be all that asked. And even walk away if they say this. Walking away may get you an even better cost.

Damn, I'm old enough to remember when you would say "you don't need a big V8 unless........" but now we got scotty saying the same thing about the V6. 🤔

Toyota's 4-cylinder engines from 2010 and after make up to 170 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque, and they are cheaper to maintain than the V6 models.

F1 cars used to have V12s, V10s, and then V8s, now they have V6 turbo hybrids and set faster lap times than ever. Engines and power trains continue to get more efficient and in turn, smaller

Standard is fun when you're either young or have open road lol. When you get arthritis it's not fun and if you drive in a city traffic and rush hours it's horribly annoying. I learned driving on a stick and I also didn't have power steering, but at 66, heck give me automatic 😂

Or when you live in a hilly city with stop signs just before the top of each hill. You learn quick to work 3 pedals with 2 feet. Like you said, when you are young learning new skills is fun, when you are old it's a pain.

I was a life long Mercedes Benz and BMW lover. After riding in a Avalon and the fact that i like luxurious style interiors, not too fancy but Lexus quality. It's a no brainer for me. I also compared the yearly maintenance and certain replacement parts cost of BMW, Mercedes and Lexus. It's rediculous how expensive the German brands are compared to Lexus. Plus i like a more subtle ride as opposed to the harsh sportier ride of the German brands. And saving the best for last, the reliability of the Japanese brands namely Lexus.

$1000 for TPM's? WTF....over? I just did the TPM's in my C5 Corvette last time I put tires on her ($600 for Kumho Solus at Tire Rack 😂). Bought 4 NEW TPM's at RockAuto for $96!!!!! The local tire shop here in Knoxville was so cool, they let me come into the garage and install the new TPM's after they ripped the tires off the 5 spoke wheels. When I got her home, ran a magnet around the car and performed the "TPM learn procedure". Piece o' cake!

I do not understand why they don't give those alumin(i)um engine parts some varnish, for instance a clear poly-urethane, coating. Those parts as far as I can tell would not get so hot that that coating wouldn't be able to cope with the temperatures, and such a coating would be a cheap and effective way to keep those parts from degrading even if only surfacially and visually.

Bought a one owner 09 Venza with 60,000 miles yesterday coincidentally the same day you posted this video. Got the 4cyl by choice. Paid $14,000 out the door. I know a few years ago it would have sold for under $10k but the way I look at it, it will last another 250kiles. Most new cars today that are $25k will start to fall apart after 100k miles.

The Venza is sexy & actually sits 1-2” higher than a Camry which is very nice! I was gonna buy one but got a Honda Crosstour just cuz I found a great deal & I love it for all these same reasons!

Had a 2011. My alarm would randomly go off. Found out that it was a common problem that so many people replaced hood latch sensor, new battery and it still happens. Had to get rid of it, which sucks because I really liked the vehicle.

These are kind of hard to find. Toyota didn't sell them in big numbers so there aren't a lot of them out there to begin with. The good thing is that you can usually get these for substantially less money than a 4Runner or any other Toyota SUV with similar mileage.

With nice rims, bigger tires, amp & subwoofer, tint the windows, black exterior you got a pretty nice car.

Oh yes absolutely put it in power mode when your going out into traffic quickly and when passing someone..it makes a world of difference! I used one of the 2 Prius my parents have. And for the 1st 3 days I was like dam this thing is slow and really dragging out that gear! (Not knowing CVT was belt driven) But it sounded like I was dragging out 3rd hear at 45-50 MPH! Then discovered the modes. And I kept it on power mode and still got 45mpg really getting on it too.normal mode it got 55MPG. So 10mpg less isn’t such a big deal for power

I almost bought a used (new style) venza hybrid for 38, but got a brand new Subaru outback wilderness turbo for 41 right off the truck. 0 regrets

"Most people think they need more than they actually do." amen. Applies almost everywhere, especially with technology. On cars, I laughed out hard for over a minute straight when I saw the mini-van (2013 VW Sharan) my parents got as an upgrade for our ageing but mechanically good MPV (2007 VW Touran). It's huge (to European standards), has poor fuel efficiency and takes some getting used to to shift properly, but wow did they get a fancy trim level. I like it for it's different driving experience, nice contrast with our second car (2019 VW Up!, very basic trim) which I get to drive more. Maintenance is their problem, I'll watch how these German built new computerised VWs hold up and use that experience in my consideration of what to get for myself down the line.

I just got my 03 protege back from shop. Got a used 45k motor put in. The first motor went 220k tranny about 180k. Simple little 4 banger easy to work on great gas mileage parts are super cheap it's my second favorite. My 89 VW fox was probably my best car I ever owned. 305k when it finally went. Couldn't find a motor for it so sold it. Kills me to this day lol

I agree with Scotty in that one doesn't always need bling. I wish I could have found a Venza like that one when I needed a car. Yes a FWD Venza is vanilla but I'm at the point where comfort, reliability and not killing me at the pump is what I need in a daily driver. The one thing I don't agree with him on is snow tires on the front only with FWD. I live in a place that gets winter and you need the the traction at the back so the rear end doesn't swing out under braking. I can also say that FWD with proper winters has gotten me everywhere I need to go in the worst weather.

I have a 2005 corolla with a manual transmission. I've owned it for 15 years and it has 178,000 miles. No issues.

I have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. It is a sister Toyota Matrix. I have the 2.4 Toyota engine. I change the oil every 3000 miles. The oil consumption is minimal. I change the transmission fluid every 12000 miles. The car has 122,000 miles now no problems.

I don't drive anymore, but I enjoy Your Videos.

Ive Ubered in several Priuses with over 250,000 miles and one with a smidge over 300,000, all ran great and had the original battery.

Man, scotty you really rip on the CVTs. I have a 2014 cadillac ELR with a CVT. I do not miss traditional transmissions. It's super smooth.

My 2004 5 spd. Corolla was super fun to drive. I learned how to drive on a Ford 9-N tractor. And I use a clutch like a trucker. My clutch will last forever, anyways, that Corolla transmission went out at 180,000 miles. I always changed the fluids. It was clean. IDK, that main carrier bearing went out on the tranny. Absolutely true I only used the clutch for 1st and reverse. I put 300k and donated it to a senior living home and they are still driving it only needed to have struts and shocks replacement

I had a venza. My wife wrecked it. the thing burnt a quart of oil every thousand miles. Sometimes I would check the oil and it would be bone dry... Thing still ran like a champ with basically no oil in it. Miss that car

If I were to buy a Camry, I would buy a V6, although I wouldn't need it, but I like their TRD you featured on your channel!

Had a 2010 Venza limited V6. Bought new in 2009 and kept it for 11 years then passed it on to my daughter who is still using it today. Was one of the best cars I've owned. Never regretted buying it for a second. Never let me down.

I've owned several hybirds. When you change the tires, het the same tires, or your mileage will tank. My 2019 gets as high as 60 mpg on the open road.

I regret not buying a venza could have got one only a year old with like 30k miles for 12 grand back before car prices jumped up sky high

I'M A 71 YEAR OLD MANUAL TRANSMISSION MAN that my FIRST CAR was a 1959 VW BUG in 1971, I was SOLD on manual transmissions I didn't get a automatic transmission vehicle until 2006 when my mother gave me it. The BEST thing about manual transmission is that you have to pay more ATTENTION to your driving which I think is a GOOD THING. 😯😁😉👍

Lotus cars is still very much alive and kicking Scotty, not in America but they will still probably export some new cars to America.

Wonder how many Lotus Cortinas MK1 or 2 are left in the States? & Even rarer in the States must be the Chrysler Lotus Sunbeam!

I had a 2003 4Runner with 256,000 on it. Ran like a top and everything worked perfect. Unfortunately, the frame rotted out. Apparently it was a known issue for that generation

Same thing with this generation Honda Pilot. I checked out a 2008. Fully loaded and I was almost sold until I looked at the rear frame area. Too many holes and thin spots

15:30 I forgot his name and his channel name, but there's a mechanic in the Buffalo area who did a YT video on a car's tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). He said that the replacement sensors are about $6 or so for all four tires. I don't remember if he said what the labor should cost.
