My FJ had that same shake when I got it, it was a tire balance issue and warped rotors. The FJ is super picky about tire balance, it has to be done right.

I just got my 08 @ 153k w/ stock size tires and offroad I get some kick-back at times. Is this an early indication for the same repair?

I’m Not A certified mechanic but I can tell you from experience that the kick-back that’s your feeling is more than likely from the bushing on the steering rack being worn out. I’ll be doing a video soon on replacing mine soon.

So I have a 2005 Toyota Avalon that drove like shit with Goodyear Maxlifes, wouldnt balance, mechanically sound. Through on some Michelin Defender 2 and it drives like new!
