Toyota's New 2025 4Runner Just Killed Jeep's Future in America

Toyota's lineup of off-road and truck models is currently at its most exciting, thanks to two busy years of introducing new vehicles. Now, after much anticipation, the 4Runner is getting its update. True to expectations, the 2025 4Runner shares its platform with the latest Tacoma pickup and is equipped with a standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 278 horsepower. Additionally, there's a hybrid variant boasting 326 horsepower, which we'll discuss in a separate review. The iconic roll-down rear window remains a feature, and the new 4Runner retains its rugged, square-jawed exterior design.
Beyond that, the vehicle has received comprehensive updates. Optional tech highlights include a 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, a head-up display, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Plus, there's a broad range of driver-assistance features, with many being standard equipment. But don't mistake the new 4Runner's tech-savviness for a loss of its off-road prowess. It's still packed with gear to handle challenging trails with ease.
The 2025 4Runner is set to arrive in Toyota dealerships by the close of 2024.
