I had the same problem with my Rav4. It took me quite a while to figure out it was the spare tire that was under inflated. Thanks for posting this, I hope it helps others avoid the confusion that this can cause.

Wow! Awesome information. I went to a dealership and they tried to sell me replacement tire sensors for $300 each. They never mentioned replacing batteries. They checked tire pressure on 4 tires, not the spare. I will check all 5 tires now and see what happens. It's so good to know there are good honest people who care about customers. GOD bless you. Thank you.

Well, I’ll be dipped! Three days ago the blasted TPMS light on out 2007 Lexus ES 350 came on! No blinking, just a steady light. A couple of the tires were slightly low so I aired them up. Light still on! I stumbled onto this video by accident! Never would have dreamed to spare had a sensor! It’s the original spare, never been on the ground and more than likely, never been checked! Guess what I’m going to do tomorrow morning! Great video! 1

Great video. My father has 6cyl 2007 rav4 sport. Incredible vehicle, easily best he ever owned. This one here is in incredible shape, that lady cares about her vehicle and it shows. The one thing that consistently bothers my dad is that the tires lose pressure alot. Oddly enough it's the driver side rear that gives him the most trouble. I say oddly because he's switched it with the spare, same deal, bought a new rim, same deal. We've changed tires, valve stems, made sure they beaded it properly, changed tire shops. Nothing works. So I think it's just this model's rims. But more of an inconvenience than anything else. I'm a Ford guy myself, but my dad's 2007 Toyota rav4 sport is better than any vehicle I've ever owned. Least problems of any vehicle I've known. Thanks for the info I will inflate his spare just for piece of mind of knowing that one is inflated and not setting off the light. 👍

This is exactly what happened to our 2008 RAV4. We drove to Canada from NJ that same light came on while we were in Canada. I checked all 4 tire pressures and they were all fine. I thought there was a malfunction and then I remembered it has a full size spare on the back. So I checked the pressure there and sure enough it was low. So I filled it up and the light went away. So now when ever I check the tire pressures before a long trip I also check the spare tire pressure with all of our vehicles.

My TPMS warning light is steady on. Turns out two were not transmitting. Sit too long during the Rona house arrest. Found out you can wake them up by releasing pressure for xx seconds and then reinflating. However the numbers change from seconds and PSI. Went to tire store and attached auto pressure pump to deflate to 20 and reinflate to 35 and it woke up one of them. Procedure may be different like many makes and models but also Pacific may have different programming between TPMS. I say that only because I did it manually and it did not work on one. There is no reset TPMS on this year vehicle. And no trigger programming like on American makes, done a lot of times after rotation.

New to me, 2012 Rav4 V6 tire story. 50 ish miles into it we could hear a sound like a whistling electric cooling fan but almost under the driver's seat underneath. Went thru all the horror stories and was scared. But continued thru correcting all the screw-ups from the previous owners mechanic. In doing so, discovered the drivers' side rear tire was 3 lbs lower than the rest. Noise is now gone.
