As the old saying goes: if you want to go off road buy a Land Rover. If you want to go off road and GET HOME buy a Landcruiser/Hilux. Not a hope ANY Land Rover can compete with Toyota's legendary reliability and dependability! The choice is clear!

My friend bought a brand new Landrover Velar. He actually took it back after two months and got his money back after it spent weeks in the shop while they tried to make it go. It simply would not drive properly.

I have had two Ranger Wildtracks...and there was nothing wrong with them they were great..the latest 2.2 BiTurbo is a fantastic engine better than the previous 3.2 ..I purchased my Invincible X 1st March 2021 IN RED ADDED LOADS OF XTRAS CAME IN AT 41K A LOT FOR A PICK UP...But it is superb the new engine is sweet no Adblue nonsense self cleans , ride is great not as good or smooth as the ranger but the build quality sets it apart..miles better than the Ranger in every dept... although the uprated engine is 2.8 i dont think it as good as the Ranger 2.2 BI Turbo until you put the Hilux iinto power mode then it is crazy fast and meets the Rangers performance..this is my 3rd Hilux and it is definitely the best.

1st and only Toyota I ever owned was an unstoppable 1983 Toyota 4X4 single cab hi-lux, which in the U.S. wasn't called hi-lux, it was just called "truck". Underpowered, rode rougher than a lumber wagon, but it was the best vehicle I ever owned to date. Tougher than a 5 cent steak. I kept it for 22 years, and sold it in 2005 with 123,000 miles on it. I miss it. With the "chicken tax" in america, we won't see the hilux here until that tax is gone. So, I've never bought another Toyota since my 1983 truck. Still waitin'. I don't want the tacoma or the tundra. Nothing will ever match the grit of the hilux. Wake up, america.

L200 can carry more, tow more and is stronger. Pretty plush and finished with better interiors. Cheaper also. Hilux does have the down hill assist where L200 doesn’t but otherwise pound for pound it’s probably the better vehicle. But the Hilux has a Toyota engine. Not saying the L200 isn’t reliable and well built but just saying… it’s a Toyota. That holds a lot of weight.

Personally I find I get much more out of a review with the presenter in the car and talking through their findings.. or a normal shoot, as perhaps you might call it. Still some useful information, although I have to admit moist of my experience in a Hilux has been on visits to poor countries where I've been amazed at how well they keep going no matter how poorly they are treated. I wonder how these new more hi tech ones will survive when they turn up in such places in a few year's time.

As a Hilux fan this is a major let down .... No ubs sockets in rear no air vents in rear. Mind your head in the rear with the handles that don't fold. There lot's moan about seat bolster giving way see hilux groups on fb. Sat nav very very slow This basic model has been out in Aus and South Africa for a few years it's had plastic bits stuck on the outside and called it a new model, untill you look closer and you see it's years old in the back same in the front with cheap looking speakers stuck in the corners ..... have a look at Nissan due out 2021
