    It's amazing the difference between Toyota and VW in their approach to making a performance car. Toyota seems to take the simplest path that works properly, VW, in typical European style, add sensors to everything. I guess that's why I love Japanese cars, they're only as complicated as they need to be, engineered to last, and end up being worth more after 10 or so years, based on the fact that you don't have to take out a 2nd mortgage to keep them on the road.

    Lol my 'costly' VW has been abused to hell and back for 390K (340K of which was done by me) and has been through ONE driveshaft. The amount of 'proper/mens performance' cars it has roasted is hillarious so $1.5K in parts hardly seems expensive compared to my last Japanese performance car which ate CV's for brekfast every other week and was definitely slower..annnd less enjoyable to drive 😏🤣

Prolly unnecessary but I always get paranoid about cavitation when the air hits the pump and the uncertainty of my fill level

I then cranked with no spark plugs until the oil pressure light went out The last bit of air would be purged out as the car approaches 70°c as it closes gradually, and has about a 10°c window I believe. I noticed no drop in pressure on the first drive, and I have dials that monitor the pressure, it has a preset alarm that beeps if I drop in pressure 🙂

    At roughly 20:23 the advice offered should be very carefully looked into. If the vehicle is under warranty don't do it. The oiling system in vehicles is very specific. Oil pumps and oil passages are sized in a specific manner. They are not designed to pump and flow heavier/thicker viscosity oils.

    Doesn't really hurt them tbh. I've a car that was designed for 5w/20, and I've been running 10w/60 for over 10 years with no issues whatsoever. Oil pumps are metal and ran by a metal impellor from the cambelt/timing chain, they wouldn't struggle at all.

    Your last statement about just meeting up with some mates to wash your cars. It's so simple and a lot of non-car people just don't get it, but it gives me so much joy in life. Hanging out, talking cars, modding/fixing cars, cleaning cars, then going for a drive somewhere. It's just pure happiness. It really is an antidote for anything crap that's going on in our world. P.s. I'd love to see you guys do a video on super detailing one of your cars!

  • @liamcollister

    The best exhaust for a turbocharged car is no exhaust. SO increasing diameter will help. The main improvement would be to get a hi flow downpipe, but MCM never seem to touch it likely due to emissions. You can get high flow catted downpipes though so that's an option.

  • @chillybrit2334

    @chillybrit2334

    @@liamcollister Maybe because high flow downpipes are ridiculously expensive in $$/bhp-gained terms. There are usually many mods with much better returns to be done before that gets to the top of the list. Unless one has infinite budget then do it all at once xD

    @@chillybrit2334 downpipe is actually one of the better modifications for a turbo car. Massive flow improvement and helps reduce EGTs. A 200 cell catted downpipe isn't too expensive, not when you run a very well funded KZread channel!

    @@liamcollister Sadly I'm not a KZreadr just a peon, the budget is nil. Just thinking back to my days of modding (late 90s early 2K), we did 3" CAT back pipes with CAT delete if we could get away with it (domestic vs import) - the forum wisdom at the time was headers were somewhere further up the path. I should just shut up trying to apply "knowledge" from 2 decades ago to more recent vehicles. My bad.

    Kinda cool the GR comes with a back door intercooler piping set up. I love the brand HKS, but have to admit was HIGHLY disappointed with my very first HKS purchase, 22 years ago @ 17 thought I was SO dang cool cause I ordered an HKS Super Mega Honeycomb "cold air intake" for my 1986 FC RX7 13B n/a. I was blown away that for $260ish, I got a foam air filter & a MAF adapter, & being a special order was non-returnable, I was young & a little dumber so I assumed it would have come with the piping etc but joke was on me. Sure did sound amazing under WOT though... at least until the Apex Seals failed at 86xxx miles.

    Coffee Nerd here: "espresso coffee" is a fine grind of coffee, as opposed to french press grind which is large, and drip coffee is in the middle. espresso is also usually dark roasted. as you roast coffee, it changes flavor, dark roast has kind of chocolate notes, medium roast is more of a toast note, and light roast tends to be fruity and nutty. where you get coffee from can change the flavor too. i prefer ethipoian for its fruits and nuts and bright flavor profile, but coffee from new guinea can have earthy tones etc. some people blend these coffees to get more types of flavors in the cup. if you mix the aforementioned Ethiopian with new guinea and maybe some indian monsoon, you get almost a peanut better and jelly caffeine treat. none of this is going to matter to you. chances are your just gonna buy some k-cups (which is what happens to coffee after an oppressive regime invades its homeland) then brew it, taste it and go "oh this is shit" and dump the rest out. the type of person with a pallet for the nuances of roast depths and origins is the type of person that also sips a glass of wine or scotch whiskey, with a plate of charcuterie, which, lets be honest, is someone different than you.
